InhibitWUU
Enchantment (U)
Flash
When Inhibit enters the battlefield, exile target spell until Inhibit leaves the battlefield.
Spells your opponents cast with the same name as the exiled spell cost 2 more to cast. "Once they catch you once, it's that much harder the next time."
so i think this might work differently than similar enchantments that exile stuff from other zones such as the battlefield.
i think when the enchantment goes away and the spell is returned to the stack its owner will have to pay the cost to cast it again or it'll either frizzle n go to graveyard or stay in exile not sure which. unless the rules are changed to make a special exception i don't think the spell can go back onto the stack for free. in any case, if it's determined to be one way or the other, some reminder text to clarify might be a good idea since if there's any uncertainty then we can be certain players will argue about it.
Oops. I accidentally copied the wrong version out of my card file. This was my brainstorming version from before I bothered to look up how Spell Queller was worded. I posted the thread hastily last night because I was itching to get back to the Iconic Master's draft I was in the middle of. My bad.

I went 2-1. I got overpowered the last match. The deck was fun though. I got to drop Elesh Norn a few times. I really, really enjoyed the format, and played a great deal of it. There were so many cool, viable archetypes - mill, defenders, Dragons, aggro spellslinger, lifegain, +1/+1 counters, x spells, etc.
Edit: Wing Shards is amazing in the format. Especially with so much rebound in the set. The card is a total blowout. Not so good against defenders though.

Target spell gains Rebound. Exile it. Don't do today what you could easily do tomorrow.
Swear to god I was gonna post this card tonight.....
Put OffU
Instant (U)
Exile target spell. At the beginning of the next upkeep, the exiled card's owner may cast that card without paying its mana cost. "Why do today, that which can wait until tomorrow?"
I really like the rebound idea. I wish I thought of it.

I haven't drafted the new un-set yet (and probably won't), but anyone that has been posting in the DCC this month knows how much I loved Iconic Masters draft format. I find it hard to believe an un-set could compare. On a similar topic, Ixalan draft looks even worse to me now that I have spent the last few weeks drafting IMA. I'm still mourning over its loss.

I love this! It has a Permeating Mass feel to it. I think I can change the wording a little bit though. What do y’all think about Moon’s card in general and also, does my wording accomplish the same thing?

I enjoy cards that produce unpredictable boards and this certainly does that. The mana cost is hard for me to assess but I want to say it should cost at least 1 more but I’ll need more opinions on it. Imagine dropping this and attacking into a board of tokens. Could be lethal.
Thank you for your kind words. I based the wording on Gatherer text for cards like Wanderlust and One Thousand Lashes. Your text is cleaner, has fewer words and is easier to understand, so I like it a lot more.
It's really situational so I decided to give it the same cost as Lure with the added effect from the one black, which might never happen. Plus, it can come back to hurt you, as your creatures can also get it if the opponent plays around it.
Ok... So how does this thing work? Can anyone join, or must we wait until the beginning of a month? (I've mostly been on the Hearthpwn side of things; and they have very different rules for WCDCs)
Welcome! As the OP of this thread (and every DCC thread) says:
How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Every day that you want to enter, you just post a card and vote for cards from two other people in the poll. You can play in as many or as few days as you want in any month. (The image above isn't some kind of restriction on what cards you can enter on any given day of the week. You can post any card, any day.)

Welcome to the DCC Nixsayshi. Happy to have you! I take it by your post in today's thread, you've figured it. Good luck!
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I've noticed recently that all of the old links in these threads don't work anymore. None of the links in Moss's MCC Hall of Fame work either (maybe the recent ones do, I'm not sure). I'm not sure how exactly that happened. Perhaps one of the mods could shed some light? void_nothing? Anyway, I'll try to fix the one in the DCC tonight when I post the thread. Thanks for letting me know.

Bitter Old Man2B
Creature — Human Wizard (U)
Bitter Old Man can't be blocked except by artifact creatures and/or black creatures.
At the end of each phase, each player loses life equal to the amount mana in his or her mana pool. "Back in my day, fool-hardy, young mages that expended more power than necessary would be punished for their wastefulness!"
2/2
it probably works? the way i've been wording this is like, "as unused mana empties from a player's mana pool, that player loses that much life." partly using Kruphix, God of Horizons as a template guide.
i have this ability on a creature called Sly Devil, referencing Sligh decks. it's paired with another ability that pings each player on their end step for each untapped land under their control. that way the mana burn part will be much more relevant and it punishes players who can't use all their mana sources each turn.
Ahhh, I forgot about Kruphix's ability. That's definitely precedence for what I'm trying to do. I know how it should be worded now. I'm pretty sure the way I worded before didn't work since mana draining from your mana pool doesn't use the stack, which would cause the mana to drain from your mana pool before the Old Man triggered (at least I think that's right). Also, even if my wording did work, it wouldn't catch things like Pristine Talisman, since it could be tapped in response to the Old Man's trigger. I'd love to fit a fully written out regeneration ability on this creature, but it would be way too wordy unless I dropped "fear" for "regenerate". Fear is a much cleaner ability though.
Edit: Actually, maybe my previous wording would catch Pristine Talisman? I suppose it doesn't matter since their is a better way to word it.

a reworked Vivid. Still going for stronger and weaker versions of the same idea, but this one doesn't create developmental nightmares. Do y'all like it?
Cute Bear Cub1G
Creature - Bear (C)
Vivify (At the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap a forest or green permanent you control and reveal Cute Bear Cub from your hand. If you do, transform it.)
2/2
////// Not So Cute Bear Cub2GG
Creature - Bear (C)
4/4
I don't understand how it works. Do I reveal the card from my hand and put it onto the battlefield transformed, for the tiny cost of tapping something? Probably not?
Otherwise the reminder should read something like this: At the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap a forest or a green permanent you control and reveal a card that shares a name with this card from your hand. If you do, transform this card.
Am I grasping it? Wait, why does the transformed side have a mana cost? Do I transform the card in my hand? I'm confused now.
Thanks for taking the time to write! It means a lot It's sort of a blend of Forecast and cards like Boom/Bust. You either play the 2 drop, or you can do something small (tap a green permanent) to transform it while it is still in your hand into a beefier 4-drop. That's why it has a mana cost. You have to cast either version to put it onto the battlefield.
You have to do *something* to transform it because in Magic you can't willy nilly decide which side of a double-faced card you want to play with. I had come up with a whole host of various methods of transforming them, including:
a) they transform when they become revealed from your hand or library.
b) they transform when a certain condition is met from your hand (same condition for all vivid cards).
c) they transform when a certain condition is met from your hand (card-specific conditions for each card).
d) Vivify is a blink transformation ability keyword: "Vivify (When ~ enters the battlefield, you may return it to your hand. If you do, transform it.)"
e) they transform when you pay a kicker cost (e.g. Vivify 2G. If you paid the vivify cost, it enters the battlefield transformed).
f) the one depicted on the submitted card.
I thought this would be a fun mechanic that helps alleviate the effects of mana screw and flood in Limited. I think Limited formats are better when these worst aspects of Magic can be ameliorated.
I didn't really get how vivify worked at first glance either, but after re-reading it, it makes sense to me. Would you have instant and sorcery vivify spells? Or better yet, spells that are an instant/sorcery on one side, and a creature/other permanent on the other? 'Cause I think that is where the real room for exploration lies. I would add a clause that says that, once you vivify a card, it remains transformed for the rest of the game, regardless of what zone it's in. That would clean up a lot of rules issues if you wanted to start mixing in non-permanent cards. It could be something as simple as, "This can't be transformed" on the back side.

Possibly, and possibly with a different keyword (Impress/Impression). I might wait for the second set to do that, not sure at this point. I think it helps keeps the flavor and immersion consistent if "vivid/vivify" is exclusively used to enable a player to cast two alternate versions of the same creature. If I do choice d, the front-half turns into a pseudo-spell as you're conceiving it. Consider:
Chilling Air1U
Creature - Elemental (U)
Defender, Flying
When Chilling Air enters the battlefield, tap target creature. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
Vivify (When this creature enters the battlefield, you may return it transformed to its owner's hand.)

////// Freezing Air2UUU
Enchantment Creature - Elemental (U)
Flying
Whenever a creature attacks you, tap it. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.

The submitted version is cleaner and less-constricting, I think, but this is akin to what option d would look like.

Edit: Actually, maybe my previous wording would catch Pristine Talisman? I suppose it doesn't matter since their is a better way to word it.
Consider:
Chilling Air 1U
Creature - Elemental (U)
Defender, Flying
When Chilling Air enters the battlefield, tap target creature. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
Vivify (When this creature enters the battlefield, you may return it transformed to its owner's hand.)

Freezing Air 2UUU
Enchantment Creature - Elemental (U)
Flying
Whenever a creature attacks you, tap it. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.

The submitted version is cleaner and less-constricting, I think, but this is akin to what option d would look like.
