Since it looks like I have sort of de facto inherited the DCC chairmanship, does anybody have any feedback they'd like to give me?
I know that some people were a little put out by the move of the thread posting to earlier in the day, but IMO, it had been coming out so late that people in Europe would already be in bed by the time that day's thread went up (and I believe we have at least one regular European poster in the DCC). So, I wanted to get it back into that original 7:00 AM - 10:30 AM Pacific window.
So yeah, any feedback you want to offer is welcome. Also, if somebody wants to take a turn keeping the thread up, I'm more than happy to turn it over to him / her on a temporary or permanent basis. Just let me know. But for now, at least, I can keep things running.
As one of the people that's expressed "put-outedness" about the thread timing, its still a good thing IMO that the threads start earlier. People (myself included) will just have to catch up a few hours or not procrastinate as long if they really want to participate consistently. I'll think about any other feedback for a bit.

My only feedback is...Thank you to the people that have been posting the DCC in MDenham's absence! Personally, I'm just happy somebody is willing to keep it going, regardless of what time they can get around to putting it up.
With that said, I'd be willing to volunteer to put the thread up next month, but due to RL, I would need to post it everyday between 10 and 12 PM EST. I know this would be a major change, but I can say with little doubt that I could get the thread up consistently between those times (except maybe Fri., which would probably be up a little later. Say 2 AM EST). Anyway, I figured I'd float that out there to see what people think.

I was a bit disappointed myself. I was ahead almost the whole month! Oh well, I've been super busy at work lately, and I started to get some writer's block towards the end there. It's hard to come up with something interesting everyday for months at a time. I'll be back in April though. Hopefully my work will slow down a bit and I'll get over my writer's block. Also, I hope you'll join in next month too Rudyard. You give good card!
Edit: BTW...Nobody ever responded to my offer to put the thread up next month. I suppose that means nobody's interested in the thread moving to 11 pm ESTish? Even if it was consistent? I would actually prefer not to do it, but my love for the DCC beckons me.
Edit2: If that month went well, I'd even consider taking it over on a more permanent basis if needed....maybe.

I'm perfectly happy if you take over, Flatline. I guess I would just say, if the thread isn't posted until 11 PM EST, maybe you post the next days's thread at that time? It would just be weird to me if April 1st's thread didn't go up until it was almost April 2nd.
Or maybe I'm the only person that cares about this. In any case, I would say it's all yours next month, and I'll be glad to work with whatever setup you choose.
And while we're at it, I could use somebody to cover this Wednesday (tomorrow) and Thursday for me. Otherwise, I won't be able to post the thread until mid-afternoon, at the earliest.

As I stated before, I don't necessarily want to be responsible for the thread, but I would be willing to do it as a way to contribute to the CCC community. With that said, if you want to keep doing it, feel free. I think you've been doing a bang up job with it.
As far as the transition day goes (if it happens), I was thinking I would put the April 1st thread up @ about 11 PM EST on March 31st. This would make the last day of the month shorter than normal, which I could see pissing off the people that are in the race for the month, that don't get their last card up in time. If it should be decided that I will put the thread up in Apr., I will do my best to remind everyone that the 31st will be a short day.
Anyway....Keep up the good work Guesswork! You have done us all a service!

So the dark reign of Flatline has officially begun! Hopefully everyone enjoys my time as steward of the DCC. Please don't hesitate to give me any feedback on the thread, either via PM or in the discussion thread. Just so everyone knows though, I'm am only around at night on weekdays, so please don't be frustrated if I am not immediately responsive. I would assume you could PM a mod and they could help you if the matter is urgent. With that out of the way....Good luck to everyone in April! Let's show 'em what's up!
Edit: BTW....Hopefully everybody is ok with the time change. To put a positive spin on it, the DCC day now basically mirrors the actual day. At least if you live in the eastern time zone.

Also, I'd like everyone to be aware that, just because I have given a nominal post time of 11 pm EST, I'm actually going to shoot for 10 PM EST as much as possible (A man has to sleep sometime!). The thread should never be up earlier than that though. On most Fridays, it will likely be up a bit later. Say 2 AM EST or so.

About today's vote: as I'm probably one of the few to hate both un-cards and April's Fool, I'm just considering serious cards to vote, and as there are only three of them beside mine, I'll vote for the two of them I like the most and give the third a mention.
My card is a serious card. It just has a placeholder Un-flavor because it was the first thing I thought of that captured my idea for the mechanics. I hadn't even realized that everyone else would be posting un-cards for April Fool's day.

Yes, mechanically it's perfectly printable in black border, but the flavor clearly isn't. By the way, I didn't realize it either until I went to read all the cards up for voting. To me, April 1st is just a day like any other one, so I didn't think of that either. Anyway, I didn't and still don't want to make an argument out of that, I was just explaining why I voted for the cards I voted for. I was just explaining my reasons, nothing more. Tone is hard to convey in writing, so I apologize if I may have sounded rude when I actually wasn't.

I didn't take it as rude at all Bravelion. To be honest, I've interacted with you enough over the last few months that I'd be shocked to see you purposely be rude to anyone. I've also interacted with you enough that I would've been shocked to see you vote for an uncard. I wouldn't like too much of it myself, but from time to time I find a well-done uncard to be fun.

So I'm trying to get the thread up, but I'm getting the stupid non-latin code error. I've been trying to figure out what it is for 1/2 hour now. I'm starting to get nervous that I won't be able to get the thread up. I'm gonna keep trying. If anybody has any ideas though, please chime in.

That's really strange, considering that all the posts you're multiquoting should have usable characters (otherwise how did they get posted the first time?). The only thing I can think of is perhaps someone's name has invalid characters in it?
Edit: Also, I want to thank everyone for a really fun March - it came down to the wire, and I'm really happy that two people get to share the spotlight this time around. There were some others that came amazingly close - if HMs counted as .5 points I think we'd have seen different winners. Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's creative and inspiring cards in April.
I think I've isolated it to something in Link's post. Let's see if I can fix it.

Sorry for the double post but, I'm totally lost. I went through and deleted people's post 1 by 1 until I could get the thread to post. I got it to post after deleting Link's post, then went back and started over, retyping Link's post entirely, that didn't work. Then I tried just deleting Link's post entirely again, but that didn't work. Then the same thing happened but with bravelion's post. I don't know what else to do. Is there someone out there that is better at computers than I am that can give it whirl? I'm going to keep trying unless I hear from somebody. But I'm going to have to give up and go to bed eventually. Sorry. If anybody's gonna try, please let me know so we don't end up post 2 threads.

Oops! I went back to check and in my case it was an apostrophe in the card's text, which I forgot to change to a non Latin one. I've just corrected it and now my post should be fine. In Link's post it should be the long dash in the type line. Change it to a minus sign when you quote it and you should be fine. As for why only somebody's posts (mine included) can contain non Latin characters, the answer is in this thread. If you're going to regularly post the DCC thread everyday, you may want to ask to be added to the bypass list there.
Now I don't have time to post the thread myself, but I hope this helps you doing so.

Just PMed you, think I figured it out. If I don't see a thread from you in an hour or so I'll see about getting votes tallied and getting the thread up.
As a side note, everyone please refrain from copy/pasting text from Magic Set Editor or other card-generation software while this non-latin thing is going on. A few characters slipped in at some point today that would only get there from a copy/paste. Not trying to call anyone out, but I noticed an apostrophe ' in reminder text and a hyphen - in a type line that were causing Flatline's struggles in bravelion83's and Link's posts (only found them because he pinpointed those posts as the problem). Those characters are forum-accepted by typing directly in the forum text fields, but not via copy/paste.
A million thanks Piar! You've got a much better eye for such things than I. I'd suggest everyone check things for accuracy, I was getting a little flustered towards the end.
Edit: I don't understand why Lion and Link didn't get the error when they originally posted.
Edit2: I just saw your post. Thanks bravelion. I'll go to that thread as you have suggested. I was a little confused the other day when (I believe) you suggested the same thing, but I guess I get it now. Although I don't understand why this whole thing is going on if they can let someone bypass it. Why not just let everyone bypass it? Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, I'm not what you would call a computer wiz.
Edit3: Nevermind, I just went to that thread. It answers my questions. Thanks again BL83.

The dash that I used is called an em dash (—), and it's the "proper" dash to use on the type line. I didn't copy and paste it, as Piar suggested. I typed it. The forum used to accept them, and you'll find them in my old posts. I became accustomed to using them. Bravelion83 pointed the way to the thread where you can request permission to use such characters if you're running into trouble with them.

Anyway, I figured I'd float that out there to see what people think.
i've tried to take one the last couple months, but can't seem to stay away, hehheh
it was disappointn Flatline didn't win that third month and beat my streak. three months in a row tho is for sure challengn
We all hope so! But AFAIK, he's gone without notice. Hope it's just a case of needing a mental vacation from Magic (I've been there many times.)
Edit: BTW....Hopefully everybody is ok with the time change. To put a positive spin on it, the DCC day now basically mirrors the actual day. At least if you live in the eastern time zone.
PM me if you need any help covering days.

• The two public custom sets I've been part a part of the design team for:
"Brotherhood of Ormos" - Blog post with all info - set thread - design skeleton / card list || "Extinctia: Homo Evanuit" - Blog post with all info - set thread - card list spreadsheet
• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index. Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
No problem! Everything's fine! My character has shown itself by now, I see... oh well, that's just how I am in real life and I can't hide myself!
