On critiques about my cards: It wasn't stated that we had to make ally avatars at the beginning of the CCL, so this was more or less me trying to tie in Ally flavor with Vampires and Elementals.
I'll judge Round 1 now - seems like I'm not the only late one...
I really wish people would post what team they are - would make the whole process so much simpler. And yes, I did forget to do that last round, so I am a hypocrite.
The December CCL has ended, with Gerrard's Mom coming out with Elemental Mastery! Phyrexian Editor put up a great fight, as well as made some spectacular cards himself. Be sure to praise him as well. :]
There was a link post, but it was lost when they deleted everyone's extendo sigs and whatnot that were in the Testing Grounds. I think you can still find them through searches, there was at least a year or two before the CCL got trophy status in February 2009.
I think I've gotten a handle on how the monthly CCLs work. If possible, I would like to be added to the queue of people running one.
EDIT: Thanks, GM. I see I'm on the list.
EDIT 2: I sent a PM to Gerrard's Mom regarding an idea for a change in Round judging, which I want to use when I host. I figured I may as well post it here to see what the rest of you think of the idea. My biggest 'complaint' is that we currently do not judge Round 0 submissions, which I would like to incorporate. The following would be the rough schedule.
Round 0: 4-5 days, end of prior month
Round 1: 5-6 days. Team Assignments. Round 1 Challenge plus Round 0 Judging of your Team.
Round 2: 5-6 days. Round 2 Challenge plus Round 1 Judging of Assigned Team A.
Round 3: 5-6 days. Round 3 Challenge plus Round 2 Judging of Assigned Team B.
Round 3 Judging: 2-3 days. Round 3 Judging of Assigned Team C.
Round 4+: As normal.
I think this might also conserve some time as well, given that Round 4 could start as early as the 19th. It would also give people more time to judge the prior Rounds and give Round 0/Signups more weight.
Well, it would force me to alter the sheets that I've been using to track scores (yes, I'm an excel junkie and like to toy around with things like that). I've also been using it to track days as well. It's kind of fun actually....and disturbing.
LOL...anyway, it'd be up to whatever Gerrard says, but the main problem that I see is knowing whether or not a person has passed to the other rounds or not via scores.
Perhaps the whole score of issues is due to the lacks of deadlines and then having them jump up surprisingly. It's seems that it should be general policy to have an entry due date and then one or two days after then crit deadline. If you fail to crit (seeing as it is important to the scoring process), the you are auto-DQ'd. As it stands, this CCL just seems to be an utter mess this month :/
Example of potential process:
Month Start
Days 1-3: Round 0 (Sign-ups)
Days 4-7: Round 1 (Teams assigned)
Days 8-9: Round 1 Crits Due
Days 9-12: Round 2
Days 13-14: Round 2 Crits Due
Days 14-17: Round 3
Days 18-19: Round 3 Crits Due
Days 19-22: Round 4 (Top 8)
Days 23-26: Round 5 (Top 4)
Days 27-29: Round 6 (Top 2)
5 days for open poll.
This would require changes to the final few rounds, but this would help ensure that there was a clean schedule/winner every month. This would also give 4 days for creation and 2 days for crits (as opposed the the current rules 3.5/1.5 split). Teams can still critique other teams, but it would be clearly stated with a sharp DQ for forgetting (or just a top three as the rules state). Anyways, where is the list for signing up for hosting? I wouldn't mind helping out.

Since everyone seems to be getting in line for a shot at hosting, I would be willing to take another crack at it. This time, without attempting to coerce holiday flavor into it. >_>

Well on a technicality we are only 2 days behind officially now. (He made up for it by only spending 3 days on the Round 0 to Round 1 transition). Either way though, if it was to stay on schedule, we'd have to end no later than the 8th of Feb. This is granted of a total of 35 days total (Round 0 to Round 6). Now if we based it on just 30 days, we'd have to complete by the 3rd of Feb, which would put the schedule as:
Round 3: Lasts 3 days (Create & Crit)
Round 4: Lasts 3 days (Create & Crit)
Round 5: Lasts 3 days (Create & Crit)
Final: Lasts 4 days (Create & Vote)

*Shrug* Dunno myself. I just merely sit here and twiddle with Excel and listen to people come up with new ideas so I can implement them into the spreadsheet so we (I) can keep track of how long something is taking, points, etc...LOL

I have posted Round 3. We are going to cut to a Top 4 after this to save time.
I have also contacted Monkey Playing MTG about hosting next month, as I have not heard back from Twilight Kiwi. Haven't seen Monkey lately either though, so Darkfire Games, please consider yourself on deck.
I gone ahead and asked one of the sig shops for a banner for the CCL. I've got to redate all the threads (I made them in advance so all I have to do is copy and paste them in). Gerrard's, would you like a copy of the documents in case something bizzare happens, like my computer explodes?

Regardless, this month's CCL is a mess and we're still only on round 2 and with approximately 10 days to go.....
And we're now officially a week behind...

Which is inheriently flawed seeing as the month is only 28-31 days long...wait...aren't there only 6 rounds?
Round 0 counts as a round (as odd as it is).
Like I said, I'm weird that way.
Or Perhaps start sign-ups for next month?
