@GM: I saw the final CCL for March and boy, is that a controversial topic....
However, at this point, from my point of view, I believe twilight kiwi did the right thing. While we can never be sure, it did seem that the votes from the three 1-post accounts were just there as fluff.
My view: Since the CCL is supposed to be a contest of your peers, I believe that only the people who have posted in the Custom Cards and Games forum frequently (50+ posts at least) should be allowed. This will stop any accounts from popping up from out of nowhere and randomly voting for someone. :\ And if worst comes to worst, that month's organizer has the right to make a call on suspicious activity.
**Disclaimer: I am, by no means, accusing anyone for the events that transpired during the March CCL.

Take a mechanic from the pre-mirrodin era, and a mechanic after the mirrodin era, and create a card that flavorfully melds both mechanics.
Thanks for your opinion, Deus. Giving the host authority to oversee voting is certainly one way to do things, and moderator support helps that as well. Often in the larger public votes like the CCL final we'll have people stopping in from other parts of the site or lurkers in this forum who may not participate in the contest, but wish to express their opinion. Usually this is fine and I think we should try to keep the voting as open as possible, but there are limits to that approach as well.
Anyway, nice to see lots of interest in hosting from players new and old! Here is a quick list of people who have expressed interest for reference, I'll just ask down the list for each month that comes up:
Monkey Playing MTG
That should get us through for a good while. In the meantime, anyone else with suggestions for how the CCL is run should feel free to voice them here.
Brasil Dude, experience is no major requirement - the main prerequisite for the CCL is enthusiasm.
I thoroughly enjoyed running the CCL last month and would love to do so again when the opportunity arises.
As far as rules changes go, I think restricting voting to CCL players would diminish the breadth of the competition too much to be worth it. No one should have to check post counts of every voter for every poll; it's my hope that we can rely on common sense and fair play to prevail. In the event of a breach of protocol, I believe leaving things in the hands of the month's maestro (with allowances for mod intervention, of course) should suffice.

So.... seeing as the new Month is just ahead, if there isn't any takers for this coming month, I would be willing to host this next one. (I know that a few people have already presented interest long before I have, so give them priority. I'm just here in case that doesn't work out.)
Edit: Also, due to some concerns based on the scoring of the last CCL in relation to people dropping, resulting in less scores for that person, I propose a slight change to the scoring rubric. I had previously proposed this in the actually CCL thread, but here it is again:
Each round, the players have a chance of getting a total of 100 points toward their score. Each score is determined by the following equation:
The grading of 3 points for first place, 2 points for second and 1 for third still stands. This is also the case for up to 2 points for crits and Top3.
Total points of player A in round N = 100 * X/Y
X = Total number of points given by judges + Bonus points for critiques/Top3
Y = Total number of points possible (3*Number of judges + Bonus Points)
This way the grading is more streamlined in the fact that all rounds up to going to top 8 are graded equally, and there is no handicap for any team that has less judges.
Each player starts the next round with the score that he previously had, and another possible 100 points is given to him at the end of that round. Therefore, there is a possible 300 (or 400) points before the CCL goes to top 8.
Lanxal, thanks for the banners, and thanks for reminding us about hosting for next month (in the current CCL thread).
I sent PMs to Black_Megatog, Monkey_Playing_MTG, and Talore, the next three on the list, to see if any of them are available. We should be getting signups going soon.
Sorry for not getting that earlier, it's paper time in Mom's world.
Oh, I was writing that post while you posted and didn't notice it before. I'm fine with scoring schemes that make the competition more fair.
Monkey is going to do July, I'll wait a day or so to hear from the other two.
Talore is busy at the moment as well, and I haven't seen anyone on the list except MP28 around recently, at least not playing in the May CCL. I suppose if nobody minds, it's probably best to let Deus go ahead and host June, since he's willing and ready.
Again, sorry for not getting that coordinated earlier, and thanks to Lanxal for the reminder. Since Deus will host, it will probably work well to test out the new scoring system. The only request I have there is that you list the math in each post so people can check it independently, it's easy to make errors in adding all that stuff up.
I will wait until tomorrow to see if anyone has any qualms, and then I will post the sign-up thread. Just saying that this will be my first time doing something like this, so it will be interesting, to say the least.
I will make sure to post the math. That's probably the one thing I will be able to do with 99.99% accuracy.
Edit: Just to clarify, "tomorrow" in my case is just later today (in about 12 hours.). I know that the sign-ups will then start a little later than usual, but I think I can manage the timing.
Edit2: To give people more time to submit stuff, I will just post the sign-ups thread. It should be posted now.
I updated the Hall of Fame with last month's result. Congratulations IlGreven! I'll try reporting trophies that haven't come yet again at the end of this month.
I have sent a PM asking if Monkey_Playing_MTG wants to do July, and MagicProfessor28 has asked for August. If Black_Megatog, Talore, Neon__lights, brasil_dude101, or MeatballWarrior are still interested, please post and let us know. We'd be happy to have you as well, mzc87, so I'll try to get in touch when the next opening comes up to see if you are still available.
I don't mind waiting, but may I get in line for a CCL? I have a little theme I been wanting to pull out for a while and hopefully my next semester isn't so bad.
I'd say ditto. I'll be away for a good portion of the summer, so July and August wouldn't work for me anyway. I'd be down for something like October though (since I'll still be adjusting to a new school in Sept).
