You failed to reinvent the mechanical architectural apparatus of Magic the Gathering.
...in all seriousness though, I remember browsing through the submissions because I might want to participate next month and your card struck me as being something quite at home in a Tortured Existence (Pauper) style of deck or a Life from the Loam style of deck. In fact, your card works very very very well with Dredge, a mechanic which forms the basis of Pauper BGx Tortured Existence decks. What's cool about it, actually, is precisely that your card encourages dredging for a different purpose and with different card types than the aggressive dredge deck in Modern.
Did you give any thought to making your card Sultai? The only color I can't see this card being is white. Even a mana cost of UBRG would have been interesting. I'm not sure what colors I would have gone with.
Thanks for the kind words kjsharp. Making the card Sultai never crossed my mind, although it is an interesting idea. I was looking at it from more of a U/R spell slinger perspective. I originally had the card tap to loot, but I felt that made it too powerful.
Is the April MCC still going on? If so, what's up with that? Who are you guys waiting on? Are you guys in the final round at least?
It technically is still going on and we are in the judging phase of the final round. We've been waiting for the last judge to post their judgments for at least ten days now, and we still are. As one of the contestants, and the one who has the highest total score so far out of the three judges who did post their judgments, I would really really like to know if I have officially won the month or not. I brought the issue up right here on this thread multiple times by now, without any answer. I'd like some official words from April's host about this.
I took a look at the April finals thread, and it seems to me like you should just be declared the winner at this point. It has been long enough, and you have large enough lead that this seems like the only appropriate choice at this point. I figured if you guys just needed another judge I could help out, but as I said, you're lead seems large enough to warrant declaring a winner without a fourth judge. Of course I can not do that myself, so if for some reason a 4th judge is deemed necessary, I suppose I could fill in.

Declaring this thing closed is what I would have done as a host, personally, but it is up to Freyleyes. But consider it my advice that the April contest should be closed by now.
The May Round 3thread is now open and the round will begin 7 hours from now. From that point onwards it will be open for 36 hours.

I was really hoping we could get Necarg's scores as well, but it has been forever now, so lets go with the three judges scores. That makes bravelion83 the winner of the April round!!
Sorry for the long wait, as mentioned in the above posts, I should have just closed it and called it on the scores we had available, my apologizes for that. But now the round is officially closed and we have a winner!

I have to be the first person ever to score a 24 and NOT move on lol. Congrats to those in my bracket that did! Good luck!!
I feel you. With the comments the design quality went up another step and there's so many wonderful cards now that didn't cut it. I'm not cut out for this trial of ambition.

Thank you for hosting (I know it's a hard job) and to all the judges (a hard job too and too often thankless) and also many thanks to everyone for the congratulations. For my first time competing, I'm more than happy with 2nd place. If I have one regret, it's that I never managed to work a Wheel of Time reference in since that's the whole reason I clicked on the thread in the first place.
For the record, I did eventually notice how bonkers my card was as a commander, but only after submissions were closed. Since I intentionally modeled that ability after Phage the Untouchable I have no idea how I missed it.

Not that I'm complaining - fair is fair with regard to my score - but are we just ignoring Folza's non-judgment of round 3? In the versus round each contestant is supposed to get scored twice. I totally understand needing to move on to the finals, though.
I don't feel good about it, but the judgement period was overly long and only 4 contestants to judge. If they aren't in now, I can't be sure how much longer it'll take. We're already slipping into the next month with the round, so I just wanted to move on. Sorry about that.

MC: Think "die" or "hexproof". "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield" became "die(s)". "Can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control." became "Hexproof".
Excuse me, but Hexproof is definetely a keyword, so introducing something like hexproof will cause a player to fail the main challenge, correct?
Ugh I'm sorry I didn't mean to miss the judging period for Round 3. I ended up going on my Memorial Day holiday on Friday, with the intention of having my phone off for the weekend. I apologize greatly to all judges and contestants, and I can ensure in my future judging efforts that I'll make sure to be on top of my work.

The main challenge only asks for a 'new phrase'. It's one of the subchallenges that asks you not to do a keyword. I'd advise to skip on that challenge if it seems too hard. There isn't much that can be turned into a new Keyword Action, but plenty of things that could just be a Keyword ability.

Just have to say I'm a bit peeved that I didn't get a second grade like other people did in Round 3. Not sure I got a fair shot, but whatever, can't change it now. Just thought I'd mention that. I honestly thought the first judge under valued the elegant solution I came up with for my card. I would have definitely liked a second opinion.
