Iiw: casting spells/activating abilities from exile
chetoos - If these cards really did form a cycle they'd vary pretty wildly in terms of size and power level of effects. Wisdom of the Oaks is potentially a blowout in a can although you do have to build around it; but generally you should be able to get yourself a better deal than Blessings of Nature with this, right? Demonic Augury is spiffy, but tracking the variable is a little odd throughout the effect; lots of design points here but a dock against elegance if this were the MCC.
KarmaHoudini - Augury is just not a good keyword. It's parasitic, it refers to another keyword (action) inside itself, and even though it's at least semi-advantageous, alt costs that are higher for no greater effect are feel-bad. You were probably going for a mini-Panglacial Wurm effect but that card should probably just be allowed to be unique.
Mergatroid_Jones - Bottom of library, funky! I've always liked this design space and it's nice to care about the neglected half of the scry effect. Singing Puzzle Box is fun and elegant but might be overly efficient, and K'Sha... feels vaguely like a Commander-product backup legend.
Subject16 - This is just a cool card all around. I could somewhat see Grixis having a scry-matters theme - although that feels more like Esper's deal - but as a whole, the card is bomby and the flavor is absolutely nasty. This might be one of those home-run cards; Timmy and Johnny both obviously like it and if it were just a touch more aggressively costed it'd be perfect for Spike, who still does appreciate it. Good job altogether.
TotallyHaywire - Mindsculptor? As in Jace? He's not typically associated with a staff, although this does all feel completely like memory magic. A couple of interesting effects here, unfortunately including fateseal in all but name; while I do have a great fondness for fateseal, I recognize it - especially in repeatable form - as an unfair mechanic. The scry reference here feels a little perfunctory and possibly abuseable.

Next: Return to Alara: Design a card that culminates three of the five shards.
I'm not gonna use old Alara mechanics for each of these designs, but I want to make a design for each of the shards confluence, in a mono-color. Additionally, the mana costs aren't really final, just going with four as a safe middle of the road idea.
Feral Leotau 2GG
Creature - Cat
Devour 1, Trample
At the beginning of combat on your turn, creatures you control with power 5 or greater gain exalted until end of turn. When it ate its knight, the sigils still protected it. When it found more lost beasts, the sigils protected them all.

3/1
Turns out I'm not good at keeping track of time. Who knew?
chetoos: There are some really interesting mechanics here, and I can mostly see how the shards are present in the cards, I only wish some of them interacted with themselves more, because the Viashino for example just seems like he has two abilities that have nothing to do with each other slapped on them. However Knight of the Etherium Blade and Etherium Plagueist I really like the design of.
Forestsguy: So Godsnuffsire is a spider which were from Naya and is in Jund colors, but I fail to see a third shard in the mix. I also feel like the name is a bit of a flavour loss. If this is a creature that preys on and/or kills Godsire, why does it not interact with creatures dying in any way other than having deathtouch? I feel that for a Mythic Rare this card is fairly undercosted: being a 2/4 for 6 mana in three colors should really push me towards playing that card, and in this case I feel that its body is just a bit small for my tastes. I do have to say that your IIW submission was really interesting though!
void_nothing: So this is definitely a Naya/Esper card, with what I can imagine is Grixis as well? Power/Toughness manipulation was a grixis effect with Agony Warp and Fleshformer so I'll say that's what it is. This card seems very powerful and I really enjoy the versatility of this card here, not only in its flexible mana cost but especially in combat where you can use it as a kill spell to neuter and block someone, or to buff one of your blockers and leave the witch behind as an additional kill spell. That level of versatility makes me thing that 4 CMC might be slightly undercosted for this card, but that would depend entirely on the rest of the set.
Cardz5000: Bant, Grixis and Esper to make a 5c card fits neatly, and for some reason I can picture this card being like one of the Eternals but with Etherium instead of lazotep. The design is very nice and aggressive, but I'm unsure if it's enough to warrant playing five colors. There also seems to be a lack of P/T going on, but I'd assume this card to be a 4/4?
KarmaHoudini: This is a very aggressive card for sure. At three mana a 3/1 seems a bit fragile but the first strike and menace means this creature definitely needs a kill spell or it will wreck havoc on your opponents, especially if it goes down the Exalted route. It might be wise to give it menace on attacking alone rather than have it from the get-go, because then there's a bigger incentive to attack alone. The return to battlefield trigger I think has two issues: timing and cost. I feel that either there should be a small cost to unearth it like a single mana, or that the unearthing shouldn't be a may trigger to fit with the Zealous flavour of the card. The way they are now, you could run a deck with four of these, then wait until all four are dead and bring them all back at once for no cost and attack with 12 power of first strike and menace on the table.

IIW: I've been away so long that I've forgotten how to play. Design me a rare card that will teach me an important game concept while also appealing to casual players.
Flatline: Evolutionary Correction
It’s an interesting take in a removal spell. It’s in a bit of a weird spot, since typically blacks conditional removal goes for small creatures rather than large ones, but if this is a bend it’s definitely an acceptable one. I could see it fitting into a set with a lot of things that increase power or toughness, but outside of that context it seems too narrow. You could probably cost this at B and it would be fine.
Subject 16: Anima’s Will
I like this. It’s very clean, and it scales well into the late game. It would be a solid addition to the splashable conditional counter suite along side Unified Will.
Cheetos: Destructive Brawl
At first I liked it since it seemed like a reasonable upgrade to the various [card]Hunt the Weak[/c] type cards, but the more and more I think about it, quite often with fight effects your creatures are already larger, so it’s very much a ‘the rich get richer’ effect. I’d cost it at CMC 3.
Mergatroid: Font of Pansophy
This is the kind of card that should have been in the top-deck matters EDH deck. The effect seems like a powerful build around effect. I wonder if this would just end up getting jammed for 1 or 2 in aggro decks instead of decks that actually want to set up the effect.
BlazingRagnarok: Mental Momentum. I like the effect, and this is probably about as hard as you’d have to push impulsive drawing to make it actually playable. My big concern is that this could be pushing the limits of what is acceptable for red card advantage, even if they aren’t getting a card off of it until turn 5 at the earliest, this adds a ton of reach for red decks.
Forestsguy: Colossal Endydion
The effect is probably balanced at 7 CMC, and I like the fact that it encourages you to sequence your spells in a certain way. It probably wins the game the turn after it’s cast, but at 7 mana on a no protection creature it seems fine. Maybe a little too good for limited, so it would have to be a mythic.
Voidnothing: outstanding speaker
I’m not sure if consultation should be ‘another target advisor’, since the flavour of an adviser consulting himself seems off, but from a gameplay perspective it avoids the pitfalls of needing multiple advisers that crappy Ally mechanic from Oath of the Gatewatch sufferer from. In of itself, I like the fact that it creates a little sub-game of locking down different CMCs, but wonder if it should be legendary to avoid the effect being oppressive in multiples.

chetoos: There are some really interesting mechanics here, and I can mostly see how the shards are present in the cards, I only wish some of them interacted with themselves more, because the Viashino for example just seems like he has two abilities that have nothing to do with each other slapped on them.
Winner: (Despite my ramblings) KarmaHoudini
Next Challenge: CMC matters.
Instant (U)
Destroy target creature if its power or toughness is greater than its converted mana cost.
IIW: Wizards just signed an exclusive contract with Disney to release an MCU based set. The set will be black-bordered. Make a card for this set.
Instant
Counter target spell unless its controller pays 1.
Immensity - Counter that spell instead if you control a creature with converted mana cost 5 or greater.
Mayael is the Eye of Progenitus, passing judgment on Alara.
IIW: Music
Sorcery
Choose target creature you control, and target creature you don't control. Put a +1/+1 counter on the creature you control if its converted mana cost is greater than the converted mana cost of the creature you don't control. The creature you control fights the creature you don't control.
IIW: Make a vertical cycle (one card of each rarity, usually confined to a color or color pair, see the torment cycle) for your favorite ability word (enrage, revolt, or raid) in standard right now.
Artifact (R)
Font of Pansophy enters the battlefield with X charge counters on it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may look at the top card of your library. If it is a nonland card with converted mana cost equal to the number of charge counters on Font of Pansophy, you may reveal it and put it in your hand. Otherwise, put it back on top of your library.
IIW: Sphinxes, Masticores, Manticores, or Spiders

Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, exile the top card of your library. If the number of cards exiled with Mental Momentum is greater than or equal to the exiled card's converted mana cost, you may cast it this turn.
IIW: Keyword tribal
Creature - Plant Cat Beast
Whenever a spell is cast, if it has a greater mana cost than all other spells cast this turn, double the power and toughness of creatures you control until end of turn.

Isode's Conjunction 2UU
Enchantment (R)
When Isode’s Conjunction enters the battlefield, scry 4.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control a permanent with converted mana cost exactly 1 and a permanent with converted mana cost exactly 7, you may sacrifice Isode’s Conjunction. When you do, draw four cards.
IIW: I've been away so long that I've forgotten how to play. Design me a rare card that will teach me an important game concept while also appealing to casual players.
