Melted-Faces Gorgon 3B
Creature - Horror (U)
Cleave 2 (Whenever this permanent would deal damage to a creature, you may have it deal up to 2 of that damage to any other creature on the battlefield.)
Whenever Melted-Faces Gorgon deals damage to a creature, put a -1/-1 counter on that creature.
3/2
make a all-hybrid-mana-cost Giant
Cleave is really cool, but the creature should be limited in only dealing damage to creatures in combat (if a dood isn't even in the battle how is this cleaver-dood reaching him?). You tacked on a trigger featuring the new keyword which is pretty standard and cool. Just keep in mind a player using this creature is always going to hurt 5 toughness worth each time - two one on creature and 3 on another, due to his ability. Perhaps Wither may have been more suitable? Hard to say since I like the trigger interaction with your keyword. This would be a nice limited creature in spite of its 4cmc and if given a better creature type would see casual constructed play too.
Fidgetting Seahawk1UU
Creature - Bird {U}
Flying
Whenever Fidgetting Seahawk comes into play, draw a card.
Awareness 1 (Whenever an opponent attacks with 1 or more creatures, return this permanent to its owner's hand)
1/1
Awareness may not be the best name for the keyword, but is an interesting keyword that would make for good design ideas (but hopefully not just for creatures with ETB effects). This is another creature that could use the 1-point tweak either between reducing the cost by 1, adding 1 to the toughness, or making it awareness 2.
Fractured Bird2B
Creature - Bird Horror (U)
Flying
Empower (As this creature comes into play, you may pay 2 life. If you do, this permanent comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it. You may only empower this creature once per turn.)
3/3
This is pretty clear cut for a card, with my only thought being to tweak it by 1 - either adding 1 to the cost, reducing it to a 2/2, since 3cmc for 3/3 is normally uncommon enough as it is with drawbacks to boot, OR to increase the life loss by 1. Either way it's a strong card, balanced mostly by the fact it has no exploitable creature type for black as of now.
btw, Empower is a nice keyword that I would expect to see almost exclusively on black creatures.
Snickering Snitch 1U
Creature--Human Wizard (uncommon)
1/1
Spells targeting permanents you control cost BB less to cast. This effect reduces only the amount of colored mana paid.
Traitor (You may have Snickering Snitch enter the battlefield under an opponent's control.) "Oh, hello James. I was just talking about you."
The keyword itself would have Comprehensive Rules a bit more complicated than its reminder text. The intent, which I hope is clear from the reminder text, is that as the spell resolves, its controller chooses whether it enters the battlefield under her control or under the control of an opponent [in her range of influence]. If it enters the battlefield without having been cast, the keyword has no effect.
And just to be sure, "permanents you control" refers to the controller, not the owner. Send it to your opponent so that you can Devour in Shadow her creatures for free.
In honor of my dad's upcoming book about Immortality, make me a card that makes one of your creatures very, very hard to kill.
The very nature of this card would make it a rare. Donate-like effects are few and far between, and normally offer a way for the opponent to give it back to you. Although such an idea is normally on rares, there have been exceptions to that so I don't mind that too much. It's just that since WotC normally keeps this kind of ability to a minimum, this ability wouldn't reach its potential by being made into a keyword. Overallm I think this card works and would be perfectly suitable as a Rare so long as the cost reduction was knocked down by B.
Outskirt Platoon3RR Creature - Human WarriorU
Latent - This creature has no abilities unless an opponent controls two or more non-basic lands.
Trample, Haste
Whenever Outskirt Platoon deals combat damage to an opponent, that opponent sacrifices a non-basic land he or she controls. They carry a storm that is like a hail of salt to the land.
5/2
Create a card with my keyword, Latent. See the card for reference, or: Latent - This <permanent> has no abilities unless <condition>.
Latent is not a keyword, it's an ability word. Aside from that, This word isn't necessary since an ability like this would be worded differently from the start - example "~ has Trample and Haste as long as your opponent controls two or more nonbasic lands." AND "Whenever Outskirt Platoon deals combat damage to a player, if that player controls two or more nonbasic lands, he or she sacrifices a non-basic land he or she controls.
Now that I got the design pet peeve out of the way, this card in itself is a good entry. He makes himself latent if he's too successful in what he does, but that will only make your opponent hesitate on unlocking his latent abilities in the first place. And it's not uncommon for a red creature to be detrimental to its own value in red, so that's pretty colorpie-ish right there. It could use one more toughness, but I don't mind that too much.
Solitary goblin RR
Creature - goblin (U)
Haste
Solitary 2 (during your upkeep if you control 2 or more creatures other than solitary goblin; sacrifice solitary goblin) "Well seeing how good he fights I don't think we need more soldiers anyway..."
3/2
I could see this as a printed card. I don't think Solitary is the right word for this keyword, and in addition to that this ability is very close to being more suitable as an ability word. Solitary to me means he wants to be the only one, so if he's fine with one more guy out on the field, that would make him not solitary. For balance purposes, it would be okay if this condition was checked at all times instead of during the upkeep.
Vengeful Spirit1BB
Creature - Spirit (Uncommon)
Persist
Syphon 1 (When Vengeful Spirit enters the battlefield, you may put a -1/-1 counter on target creature. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on Vengeful Spirit.) A spirit this vengeful will never, no, can never die.
2/2
IIW:
Make Legendary Land.
Well he can't die, which is somewhat too powerful for what I'm looking for (or what anyone would want for that matter). Syphon in itself is a good idea but not next to Persist, no way.
Quelis NightguardWB
Creature-Illusion Knight (U)
First Strike, Lifelink
Stronghold (Whenever this creature is declared as a blocker, it gets +1/+1 for every other blocking creature you control)
2/2
IIW:
Design me a legendary whatever with grandeur.
This seems to be a really good defensive keyword, similar to what I made once. I think this card feels find as a high-end uncommon (I'm thinking like Vampire Nighthawk and Kitchen Finks $ value potentially) but the keyword itself is too strong. Maybe if it only gained a bonus for each other guy with stronghold, representing creatures with similar strategies working together in a defensive formation.
Neverending FireR
Instant- {U}
Neverending Fire deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
Remembrance (Whenever you cast a spell, you may cast this from your graveyard.) Certain burns never leave, even when fully healed.
If I Win: design an angel demon that is not white or black (an angel demon means it is either an angel demon, or it once was one and is now another. its old being can have been white or black.) flavor is important.
I'm really sorry, but the contest asked for a creature! I see you haven't changed it since I started judging (just to check back to see if you corrected it), but unfortunately I have to DQ this.
Angel of Secrets4WW
Creature - Angel Foe {U}
Flying
Consecrated (Whenever a creature you control blocks alone, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn)
Whenever a Foe creature you control blocks alone, regenerate it.
3/3
Make a card theme that relates to Google. This could include all facets or subfacets of google. Take a theme of what google does, from advertising, to e-commerce, searching, e-mail, gadgets, wave, calender, doc viewer, combat against microsoft, selling out to china, spying, filtering, corporate prowess, etc.
I"M NOT LOOKING FOR AN UN CARD
Make something in that theme, and make it a legitimate card. Include how you think your card theme relates back to google
This mechanic is very un-fun because in many cases blocking alone will do you more harm than the bonuses entailed here could grant. However if this were to be printed it is very manageable and balanced as an uncommon, as well as tying in two [possibly] separate themes, Consecrated and the Foe creature type.
First second and third place are as follows:
1. Socrates
2. Zany77
3. Crimson Crossfire
The next challenge is to design...

Boulder Buster(R/W)(R/W)(R/W)(R/W)(R/W)
Creature - Giant {U}
First strike
Whenever Boulder Buster becomes blocked, it gets +3/+0 until end of turn.
3/3
Make one of the following:
1. A white fatty that isn't an angel.
2. A blue combat trick that can kill a creature.
3. A black enchantment that doesn't benefit you and doesn't cause loss of life.
4. A red mana accelerator that doesn't use fast mana.
5. A green instant that cares about artifacts, but doesn't destroy them.
Rampaging Goliath (R/G)(R/G)(R/G)(R/G)
Creature - Giant Druid Warrior
Haste, trample.
Whenever Rampaging Goliath deals combat damage to an opponent, at the start of your next main phase you may add that much mana in any combination of red and/or green mana to your mana pool.
4/3
Two-Headed Giant(R/G)(R/G)(R/G)(R/G)(R/G)
Creature - Giant Mutant {U}
Kicker - (R/G)(R/G)
If ~ was kicked, it has haste and trample.
~ cannot be blocked by less than two creatures.
~ can block an additional creature each turn. There was a saying that would fit here... man, if only I had two brains I might be able to remember!
4/4
I recently discovered this card already exists, and almost the exact same way at that (though the flavor text is no where near as awesome). So please disregard this entry. If I have time, Ill post something else later.
Shambler of Lower Yor(B/G)(B/G)(B/G)(B/G)(B/G)
Creature - Zombie Giant (R)
Trample 1BG, T: Tap target creature. It gets -3/-3 until end of turn. His body is like a giant, his fingers are like snakes, his brain is like a zombie, and his heart it always aches.
5/5
Breaking news.
There will be no Tibalt, Tamiyo, Tezzeret, Garruk, Chandra, Liliana, mini-Jace, big-Jace, Garruk again, or Sarkhan in Theros either.
There will also be no Black Lotus.

Vigilance, Trample, Reach

EDIT: Changed to reflect Ohmusama’s templating. I really suck with templating.
Try wording it like this: IfWhen Gentle Giant is blocked orblocks or becomes blocked by a creature with a converted power and/or toughness ofequal to 1, exile Gentle Giant at the end of combat.
If is only used to denote conditional events and replacement effects. To activate a Trigger effect or Delayed Trigger in this case, use When or Whenever instead.

Aznathom, you realize that an even number doubled is always an even number, and thus it doubles to infinity. Or did you mean that if it was odd, it doubled, and if it were even it halves?
Lol, I was still working on that! Haven't been able to work it out, plus I realized it wasn't much of a giant flavorwise. So back to the drawing board. New entry:
Knockle-Cursed Clan :symbr::symbr::symbr:
Creature - Goblin Giant

Is it just me or have all of the WiJ contests recently had problems that did not exist ~ 6 weeks ago with judges just never showing up. I feel as though things were running smoothing prior to this time for a long stretch. I'll admit I only started posting WiJ about a year ago, but up until this benchmark we never had judging issues.
