Winterspring - It's like a big O-Naginata. The no-untap thing is sort of mitigated by the fact that it's an equipment and can be passed around. Fun on any given creature with vigilance.
bloodyspasm - I kind of do like this cycle better than the Kaldra artifacts. Why are they different rarities, though? And the Soul and the Head are manifestly better than the others.
Squirrel_Bear - Very cool. My only quibble is that I'd just set the ability to cost eight copies of it, so you can make a bunch of backup Fragments in order to call up a replacement Ond in case the first gets killed.
pstmdrn - Vaguely clever, but I've seen this design many times before and it doesn't really feel worth it to save a 2/5 defender with regeneration or Withstand Death with an empty board. This sort of wants to be a Johnny card but falls flat a little.

In the interest of keeping this thread alive for those who wish to continue, I shall post a challenge.
Your challenge is as follows: An instant, sorcery, enchantment, artifact, or (if you dare) planeswalker card with 10 or fewer words of rules text.
Notes: Card names count as one word. Example: Lightning Bolt has nine words for the purposes of this challenge. IMPORTANT! IIW's are REQUIRED for this challenge. Your entry WILL NOT be judged unless you have one.
I think one of the biggest problems with this thread is the down time between challenges. To that end, IIW's are required to enter this challenge.
Other information for the future health of this thread:
* IIWs are highly recommended, and may be required at the judge's discretion with notice. (Kindly remind people who forget a required IIW.)
* If the winner of the previous challenge, or another person appointed by him or her, doesn't judge in a reasonable time, I will judge, but not before making an effort to contact that person. Likewise for posting new challenges, but the runner up will be contacted first.
* If you win one of these contests and choose not to judge for any reason, please appoint someone else to judge. (You don't have to contact me if someone else agrees.)
* Judges: To facilitate moving forward, please repost the IIW (if one exists), which will officially become the new challenge.
Also, I'd like to add a mechanic that allows us to skip lame challenges (which we hopefully won't need). Ideas are welcome.
If a challenge is lame and has no interest, players may post to "switch" the challenge. If the judge gets a bunch of "switch" posts, he or she should modify the challenge.
To repeat one last time, you need to post two things to enter this contest:
* A noncreature, nonland card with 10 or fewer words of rules text, counting the card name as one word.
* An IIW, which will be used as the next contest if you win.
And don't post something stupid thinking you won't win; you should have confidence in your design.
If this is considered a double post, please delete my previous.
Also, if you could do something to get my information about the overhaul of this thread to be more visible, that would be much appreciated; I'm afraid that this post will be buried into irretrievable parts of the archives, and the information within lost. Thanks! -TH
I strongly disagree with adding extra rules. This thread doesn't need a guarantee of a challenge every couple of days - that's why there are 2-3 clone threads running at any one time.
There are exactly three currently, including this one.
I'm not sure if we need to actually officially change the rules either (I don't want to unless I have to), but these threads do stagnate, especially when waiting for judging and when waiting for the new challenge. A lot of WIJ threads have died due to stagnation.

If I win a Winner is Judge-type game and forget an IIW:
1. A creature that will be destroyed by spot removal, but not mass removal.
2. Stockholm Syndrome
I'm not saying there's anythign wrong with IIWs and surrogate judges, both of those things clearly serve a function! I think the main issue for me is I don't want to be penalised if I'm too lazy to come up with a challenge before I need to
I understand your concern. While I want to keep this moving, I may have taken some excessive measures to do so.
Have edited my setup, to make it more clear that IIWs aren't required unless the judge says otherwise.
My intent is to keep it fun, but also keep it moving.
EDIT: I agree with not wanting to edit this information into the OP, but at the same time I want to keep the notice visible. Ideas?
Judging is complete.
I think some may have been put off by the restrictive word count; however, a lot of cards have fewer words of rules text. Day of Judgment has only three; Ardent Plea is an enchantment with two words.
Drena, Coalition LeaderWW
Planeswalker - Drena (M)
[0]: Put a loyalty counter on target planeswalker.
[-X]: Gain X life.
<3>
I did warn you about planeswalkers, but you tried one anyway; points for that. Wish she had a third ability, because her second isn't really all that impressive. Interacts well with other planeswalkers, but I can't really give you much, as planeswalkers are supposed to be really flashy and awesome.
I do also need to mention that the life gain template is "You gain X life."
Prismatic Ritual2R
Instant (U)
Add WUBRG to your mana pool.
Would be really good in a multicolor block, maybe even too good for that, which is where it would most likely get printed. While I like it, it's not a card that would be taken lightly.
No Man's Land1G
Enchantment (r)
Lands have protection from nonland creatures. "Gaea's is a kingdom without borders, and an army without end. Remember on whose ground you stand."
—Nora, to Krilesh the Conqueror
When I first saw this card, I thought it sucked. Took some time (and some spamming) to actually see the utility of this card, and I like it. Could be dangerous in the right situations (which I leave to the reader to figure out). I think you should just give the lands protection from creatures, however.
This was a tough one. Everyone did really well, but . . .
I'd like to call it a tie between Prophylaxis and Mobiusman. But . . .
The tie goes to Prophylaxis for using fewer words of rules text.
Your new challenge is:
Timmy cards! (hit fatties, big mana costs, and cool effects for me to go ballistic)
Again, well done and thank you to everyone who entered. Hopefully future challenges will have more entries.
