Displaced Tundra :symw::symw: Common Creature - Wall
Defender (This creature can't attack.)
:snow:: Prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to Displaced Tundra.

The frosty climate shatters the worldly hearth and repositions the ground so that the bountiful snow may be closer to the place from which it fell.
Hi,
Just a quick judging today. I've got a lot of work to get done.
You are being evaluated on the following:
Creativity /10: How did you approach this challenge?
Flavor /10: I wanted to use this to test everybody's flavor engines. Sadly, I don't see a lot of that here.
Mechanics /5: Can you design a balanced creature?
Penalty -X: You will receive an automatic -3 points for each keyword ability your creature has, as punishment for taking the "lazy way out." You will receive an automatic -5 points for each non-keyword ability, as punishment for not even following the challenge.
Warning in advance: Don't complain about the scores. I wasn't sure what I was going to get going in.
Wanderbrine Lancer4
Creature - Merfolk Knight (U)
First strike
5/2 Wanderbrine's jousting vanguard are the most elite of all, chances are your duel with them will end with a torrential rain of jabs, impaling you to the bottom of the river.
C 5/10: Pretty simple hybrid french vanilla.
F 8/10: Obviously a shadowmoor merfolk. When I think of jousting, I don't think of wanderbrine. My impression of those merfolk was that they're more like, eh, well, ruthless killers. Your flavor text, aside from that, seems a little unrefined. I get what you're going for though.
M 3/5: I don't like the 5/2 for 5 in blue OR black. The first strike seems out of place, also. Uncommon is the right rarity for this.
P -3
T 13/25
C 5/10: Big green guy. Bored.
F 5/10: I'm glad you changed your card's name. This name is fine, but there isn't any other substance.
M 5/5: I have to say this is fine. Four toughness and no evasion or protective abilities makes for a printable card.
P -0
T 15/25
Kaluuv, the WarhawkW
Legendary Creature - Aven Soldier
Flying, First strike
2/1 "Quicker that the wind and keener that the glaring sun"
C 7/10: Revisiting that old "legends are powerful" thing, eh?
F 9/10: Flavor text is clean and concise. I love it. Typo prevents you from getting full credit.
M 5/5: I like this guy more than isamaru. It's considerably stronger, but the way creatures are these days I can't say it's overpowered.
P -6
T 15/25
Paladin of the Unconquered Sun2WW
Creature - Human Knight (R)
Protection from black, vigilance
4/4 He will not rest on his quest until all evil has been slain. Only then will his quest end, and only then may he finally rest.
C 6/10: Like a double White Knight. This is the card I like to make.
F 7/10: This flavor text is very redundant. Seriously, that entire second sentence just restates what the first one already said, only wordier.
M 4/5: The addition of vigilance is nice here. 4 mana 4/4 makes him powerful, as well.
P -6
T 11/25
Order of the Lightning Lance(W/R)(W/R)(W/R)
Creature - Human Knight [R]
First Strike "On steeds of bronze, with crackling spears, the knights ride into battle." -War Song of the Lightning Lancers
5/1
C 5/10: Big first striker. Didn't we see that just a little while ago?
F 9/10: I like the flavor text. "war songs," of all things.
M 4/5: Your color choice was much more appropriate than the previous card. Rarity keeps this printable.
P -3
T 15/25
C 6/10: I like this card. You're definitely trying to push the Kraken Hatchling kind of card to its limit.
F 4/10: Very little.
M 3/5: This is a creature that usually costs 3 mana. In green that might be acceptable, but I would want to put this at uncommon (as crazy as that sounds).
P -0
T 13/25
Eldrazi Ambassador4
Creature - Eldrazi Locus (U) The ambassador's task is to prepare the arrival of their superiors.
3/4
C 8/10: The addition of the "locus" type is clever, but locus is a land type. You seem to be going for a kind of enabler card for Eldrazi strategies...
F 5/10: The eldrazi don't need ambassadors. They just kill everything.
M 2/5: In the dedicated deck (aka 8post8temple4eyes), this card is going to be too good. Turn two 3/4 that makes your lands accelerate MORE? Nah.
P -0
T 15/25
Ecalap, Forgotten God GGGGGGGGGG
Legendary Creature - Elemental
20/20
The spark vanished after Ecalap was written out of the history books.
C 4/10: What did I give Demigod? Minus a point because it's a 20/20.
F 5/10: What spark? Flavor text doesn't really say anything.
M 3/5: 20/20s don't really need to be around.
P -0
T 12/25
Wall of SpongeU
Creature - Wall (C)
Defender Though it posed no threat, all efforts to circumvent it were easily absorbed.
-1/5
C 8/10: I love negative power and toughness so much, you have no idea.
F 8/10: I like this flavor text. Made me smile.
M 3/5: Two things. One: This card doesn't need defender. I mean, it's a wall, but you could have made it a Sponge and not lost three points. Two: You realize this is a one mana 0/5, right? That's above the curve.
P -3
T 16/25
Bloodthirsty CougarRR
Creature - Cat "Always watching, waiting for you to let your guard down."
4/1
C 5/10: Undercosted big guy. This is the third card like this so far. Yours, however, is the first vanilla one I got. Good.
F 9/10: The flavor text is good. Almost perfect, but something says it is not.
M 3/5: Lack of rarity... Well, I would put this at common. I will note that this card costs four mana, not two.
P -0
T 17/25
Phallarimus5RG
Creature - Beast
6/9 Also known as "The Innuendor".
C 7/10: What's the seven for? Good effort.
F 4/10: Nah.
M 4/5: Underwhelming, really. As a common it would make a good high-end card in draft I guess.
P -0
T 15/25
C 5/10: There really isn't anything new or interesting about this design.
F 4/10: What do you mean by "keg?" You have given me nothing to work with.
M 5/5: This card could see print.
P -3
T 11/25
Chainfighter B
Creature - Human Warrior (U)
Frenzy 3
0/1
C 7/10: I like the cards like these. Always nice to see a variant.
F 4/10: Well, we already have a Chainflinger, a Curse (of Chains), and even a guy named Chainer. The flavor does not come across here.
M 4/5: The problem with cards like these is that it's so easy to just block them. And they end up not being that great. Granted, as a 3-power attacker on turn 2, this guy packs a punch...
P -3
T 12/25
Madame Curie 2UU
Creature - Human Wizard (U)
1/10 Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
C 6/10: Big blue butts.
F 4/10: So we're quoting her. Why isn't it a quote? It adds little to the card, in addition.
M 4/5: Big wall. I can see it.
P -0
T 14/25
Displaced Tundra :symw::symw: Common Creature - Wall
Defender (This creature can't attack.)

The frosty climate shatters the worldly hearth and repositions the ground so that the bountiful snow may be closer to the place from which it fell.
- Pleistocene (Ice Age) Hymn
C 5/10: Well, you are next on the list of gigantic wall makers.
F 8/10: You have successfully invoked the feel of a tundra. I guess.
M 3/5: It's like Wall of Faith, only better.

@Megiddo: dude, i gave you what you wanted. you could have at least scored it. remember, you were rude to me first. i made a card that was trying to be a vanilla for whatever color you paid for it and you got all indignant over it. i was just trying to have fun with the challenge. your choice to ignore my re-entry was not cool, so you can stop slapping yourself on the back.

This is based off of an original idea of mine, that being Enchantment - Ward(s), which have templates like this,
Card Name (Cost??) Rarity Enchantment - Ward
(Cost??): Ability. Activate this ability only if (condition) and only once each turn.
Normal ability. Flavor
Anyway, I thought i'd combine the idea of an enchantment creature and a ward. Wards are supposed to work similar to instant - trap(s), but are actively warning an opponent that if (condition) happens then, I can do this because you've enabled me to activate this protection. Also, the reason wards use activated abilities as opposed to triggered ones is to provide a level of flexibility as compared to that of triggered effects.

I'm not going to grade that card.
Ouch....
Anyway, I agree. Judges really don't like when you post a submission that is blantantly different than what they asked for.
Take a mechanic from the pre-mirrodin era, and a mechanic after the mirrodin era, and create a card that flavorfully melds both mechanics.
I am happy with the entries so far in general. I was hoping to get vanilla cards, but you guys are just lazy I guess.
