Equipped creature gets +1/+1 for each legacy counter on ~.
Equip: 2 What started out as a simple sword now holds the triumphs of many.
Neither of these feel like an heirloom weapon handed down as a rite of passage.
Besides, the second is negative, which doesn't seem to fit either (also see my April R3 submission for something like it).
Whether something feels or doesn't feel like an herloom is purely based on one's interpretation. The equipment can be based on a clan of religious fanatics who gain more strength from each negative effect on it (see these wikipedialinks), or could be a hand-me-down from a clan of gypsies for whom every day is another gamble.
Point is, the fact that a card doesn't fit a mainstream interpretation does not invalidate them from meeting the very broad criteria given for the contest.
Heartwood Maze 2

Equipped creature gets +2/+2.
Whenever Heartwood Maze becomes equipped to a creature, tap that creature. It does not untap during its controller's next untap step.
Equip 0 Aiming to yield a heartwood weapon means to take a lot of time meditating.
... now that's just all kinds of confusing, how do you equip a maze and how is a maze a heirloom weapon? Seems more like a defensive emplacement then a weapon.... okay, I'm going to shut up now.
I don't really care about the origin as long as it's apparent from the card. I'm curious, for instance, what a Crazy Slot is actually supposed to be, is it a reference to a slot machine? Or something totally unrelated?
... I'm thinking along the lines of a generic foot-long bar with a small mechanism in the middle that has 3-6 slots, similar to a slot machine. Each time you equip it, you power on the slots (with 1) and the bar changes based on the random result, with higher jackpots (more coin flip wins) giving higher payouts (more abilities). A fitting "weapon" for a clan of traveling merchants, or goblins if you really want to push it.
