I am extremely pleased to present the first custom card creation game officially created and sponsored by Club Flamingo, the Battle Factory!
I'm the Factory Head of this game, working the behind-the-scenes machinery of the Factory and answering any questions you might have along the way — and please feel free to ask! Though the best minds of Club Flamingo worked hard to bring this game to you, there might still be problems to solve, and I want to hear about them.
This thread is for discussion only.
The Basic Structure:
You will receive six randomly-selected design restrictions. From those six restrictions, choose three to work with. Then, submit a set of three cards that fit all of the restrictions.
Each round you will be randomly paired against another contestant, and a public vote will determine who advances to the next round. This is single-elimination, so you can't slack off!
Sound good so far? We're just getting started!
If you are the winner of a pair, you have a little bit to do before the next round. Remember how you designed with three restrictions? Well, you don't get to keep what you started!
First, pick one restriction to keep. You'll be using that one next round.
Next, pick one of your opponent's restrictions to take.
Finally, pick another one of your own restrictions to swap for the restriction you decided to take.
You will then end up with three restrictions: The one you decided to keep, the one you took from your opponent, and a new, randomly chosen one that is given to you by the Factory Head.
Once you have three new restrictions, you design another set of three cards. Nothing to it!
We keep going, swapping along the way, until there's only one designer left standing, the champion of the battle factory!
A few more important details:
The restrictions you get will be divided into two categories, single and blanket restrictions. Single restrictions apply to only one card of your set of three. You must apply each single restriction you have to a different card in your set. Blanket restrictions describe something that must be true about your entry as a whole.
Your initial set of six restrictions will include four blanket restrictions and two single restrictions.
In the event of a tie, the first thing I'll look for is whether you had more blanket restrictions than your opponent. If you do, you win, and vice versa. If this does not resolve the tie, the winner will be decided by the Factory Head and any Factory Assistants (who are not participating in the rounds).
Any points of confusion will be resolved by the Factory Head as needed.
1. Each round you get three design restrictions and enter three cards as a set that meet all of them.
2. Then, you go head-to-head against another entrant in a public vote.
3. If you win, you get to swap one of your restrictions with your opponent. Additionally, choose another restriction you be replaced at random by the Factory Head.
4. This game is single elimination.
Do I have to swap? Yes! From your three restrictions, you must choose one to keep, one of your opponent's to take, and which of your restrictions you'd like to swap for that one.
What if we don't have an even number of players? Since the game is built around the swapping mechanic, I have decided to do a three-way battle rather than offer byes. If you win a three-way battle you may choose to swap with either of your defeated opponents.
When do we get the restrictions? With the round 1 thread, all entrants will be given their set of restrictions.
I can't do it! It's literally impossible to meet all of my restrictions! The Factory Head will review all restriction sets to ensure they are legal. If you have an illegal set that I didn't catch, let me know and I'll fix it.
More to come.
Finally, I'd like to thank the Club Flamingo members that made this game possible, with special thanks to avatarz for supplying the banner.
Keep in mind guys, even though Club Flamingo's finest minds were channeled into this project, this is still the contest's maiden voyage. Any constructive criticism to improve future contests is appreciated!

. . . We probably should keep the Club Flamingo-sponsored spam out of this thread.
If you are about to complain about your restriction sets:
Don't. It was totally random.
Feel free to suggest restrictions that should be phased out for future sessions of this game, though!
Also please note a rules change: We are no longer giving bonus votes for anything, due to the nature of the blanket restrictions. However, in the event of a tie, the person with the most blanket restrictions will win.

How many faces of a DFC have to fulfill a particular requirement?
For example, if I choose the "all must be Wizards" thing and make a double-faced artifact, can the first face be a typeless artifact, and the second be a Wizard artifact creature?

@Vishamon (and everyone else) - please don't just write your restriction names, write the restrictions out in full - things like Gym Master have more than one challenge associated with the name.
"have" flying or whatever means it has to be a creature or it can be like Jump or something?
Don't quote me on this, but I believe the intended restriction is that the card itself has flying (or can gain flying through its own mechanisms), rather than simply granting it to a target.

Ooh, didn't consider that. I'm going to say it has to be a creature with flying, because we may just add that to our restriction repository (it was hard enough coming up with the 128 we have now).
When do we find out against whom we are doing battle?

Like I said, I can only go by my own experience, which is now 18 years. Kind of disheartening when you think you know something and you find out that you're a notch below a low grade moron.

"Birds of a Feather — All cards make the same token." - Do they have to generate discrete tokens, or do they make a token?
Never mind - that's a boring mechanic anyways. Perhaps an answer would be good for future reference though.
This is for me more than it is for anyone else. I sucks at colors.
No, we meant like Mobilization, Throne of Empires, Timely Reinforcements. They all make identical tokens.
