Well, it seems to be the Council of 35 now. You and two coworkers are three of the most powerful beings in the Outer Worlds. That just leaves one question: How are we going to tell our boss we quit?
It's not like you can just pick up the phone and call him (you've tried making a phone come into existence, and it just doesn't seem to be able to cross planar boundaries). You're going to have to send a message some other way.
Then it hits you: your character has been through plenty of situations that are more dangerous. Having him or her carry a message shouldn't be hard at all. There's some grumbling, but your character finally agrees - on the condition that they get to deliver the message in person.
A couple of weeks later, your character comes back. "So, anything interesting happen?"
"Well, Daybreak seems to have drastically changed..."
From what you can gather, one of the classes seems to have been removed from the game, a third of the world is covered in glaciers now, and another third has gone from green fields and forests to deserts with roving bandits.
"Oh, and your boss said he's coming to visit."
Challenge: Design two Planes - one representing the old version of Daybreak, one representing the new version - and a Scheme that covers one of the four factions' future plans for Daybreak.
Also, a planeswalker version of your character, and a legendary creature that's your boss's character (who's of the removed class, and the color pair your lands from signup didn't use).
Voting closes at midnight, Thursday, January 12th.
Round 0:
Pyrulean style! Skyfire
Legendary Land (R) T: Add W to your mana pool.
Creatures you control get -1/-1 and have flying. Here the sun will never be eclipsed.
Paradise Blooms
Land - Forest Island (R)
Echo (G/U)(At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.) In other places, unpredictable growths like these might be viewed as wonders. On Pyrulea, they are simply normal.
Round 1: Garrulous Doorman1WW
Creature - Human Citizen
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, its controller sacrifices it unless he or she pays 1. "Unless you have cash, you're stuck with the company of the macaws."
1/1
Round 2: Yayarin4
Artifact (R)
Echo - Exile Yayarin, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control.
When Yayarin enters the battlefield, scry 2, then draw a card. You lose 1 life. Only 3 remain, but they were traditionally gifted to a new chieftain so that he might use its visions to guide his clan.
Crystalblade
Asmati, of Borrowed Strength3GG
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior (R)
Trample
If Asmati, of Borrowed Strength would deal damage, you may put that many +1/+1 counters on it instead. A force of sheer battery like no other in the plane.
3/3
Round 3: Quicksilver Langolier
Artifact Creature - Langolier (R) (Nonexistent mana costs can't be paid.)
Flying, haste
If Quicksilver Langolier would die, return it to its owner's hand instead.
Suspend 2 - 3
2/2
Essence Distortion2GG
Enchantment (R)
Each nontoken creature's power and toughness are equal to its converted mana cost. "Foul trickery! Your cunning will be your undoing - and I will attend to that."
-Asmati
Round 4: Asmati, Deceitful Harvester4BG
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior XBG: Put X -1/-1 counters on target creature. Put X +1/+1 counters on Asmati, Deceitful Harvester.
Asmati can't block creatures with less power than it. "I used to do things the hard way. But then I realised that enemies are such convenient resources, as long as they are potent enough."
3/3
Wasting Multiplication3BG
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a -1/-1 counter on enchanted creature. That creature's controller puts X 1/1 black Horror creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is enchanted creature's power. "Flesh is change. Flesh is soul. Flesh is life.
Change it, warp it, destroy it!"
- Distortion mantra
Round 5: Svetlani Music Box3
Legendary Artifact (R)
Svetlani Music Box enters the battlefield with three charge counters on it. 4, T, Remove a charge counter from Svetlani Music Box: Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn. "Even the simplest composition can stop the most complex of quarrels."
First of all, let's put on some music before I begin. Excellent.
Now, at the crux of our claim to Daybreak is that we created it. What are any of you but caretakers to this plane? There is a great difference between a creator and a caretaker. A creator has an innate, strong tie to their creation. Anything that happens to it, anything they do to affect or change it, they face the consequences of that, because it conspires to work against their hard labor and design. A caretaker does not have that; he watches rather than works; he messes with the design without contemplation. We have seen evidence of that already, places are burning, people are suffering because the caretaker did not take enough care over his charge. That is why we should run Daybreak. Such a beautiful world - the same as this music box, and both crafted by us. Such a simple idea comes into being through the most complex of design and you fail to acknowledge that. You strive to add complexity without thought for the inner idea, and if the inner idea is forgotten then the whole thing crumbles. Do you realise how difficult it is to construct a plane such as Daybreak and maintain it? Very difficult - there are hundreds of us devoted to it, so many different minds...how does it all stay together? Through that single idea, that original seed, that central cause. We are the ones to rule Daybreak - not any of you. It must not be experimented with - this twists the central cause; it must not be repurposed - this eradicates the initial seed which keeps the plane stable; and it must not be left unattended, lest the single idea itself become wayward. It is plain to see that Daybreak needs a master tied to it, bound by its fate, and entwined with its consequences. Only then will you have an ally that is strong and capable.
Your time is appreciated.
Before:
Until now, the Spires have been there. Spiteful reminders of long-lost magicks, remnants of the pre-patch world.
Spires of Renewal
Plane - Daybreak
At the beginning of each upkeep, each creature that was dealt damage last turn is indestructible until end of turn.
Whenever you roll C, Spires of Renewal deals 1 damage to each creature.
After (Bandits!):
These wastes can be home only to the most resourceful. And who is that, you ask? Why, the one with the most resources.
Naruli Ash Flats
Plane - Daybreak
Whenever a creature deals combat damage to a player, that creature's controller searches that player's library for a card and exiles it.
Whenever you roll C, target creature with power 3 or less is unblockable until end of turn.
Scheme (Langoliers):
The invasion into the state of the system has jeopardised our plans too much. Langoliers, prepare to repel them. I will not let them be an insult to our existence.
I Have No Audience for the Uninvited
Scheme
When you set this scheme in motion, return all creatures you don't control to their owners' hands. "There's the door. I won't trouble you with a countdown."
Character Planeswalker:
The way of seedcraft has illuminated my existence. The roots and stems appear, and strengthen me. I in turn focus my energy to infuse them to greater heights of power. It is the perfect symbiosis.
Asmati, Essence Beacon2GG
Planeswalker - Asmati (M)
[0]: Put a 0/1 green Plant creature token onto the battlefield. Put X loyalty counters on Asmati, where X is the highest toughness among creatures you control.
[-XX]: Put X +1/+1 counters on target creature.
[-9]: You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature you control attacks, for each counter on it, put a counter on it of that type.".
{3}
Boss (Scion):
Yes, I have returned. Hmm, you've changed. But then, so have I. And I never let an employee get away. Ever.
Behemz, Master Scion4BR
Legendary Creature - Devil Avatar (M)
When there are no other creatures on the battlefield, sacrifice Behemz, Master Scion.
Whenever a creature dies, regenerate Behemz. (B/R): Behemz deals 1 damage to each creature.
4/3
Adisani Meadow
Plane - Daybreak (C)
When Adisani Meadow is flipped face up, each player may search their library for a legendary creature card and put it into their hand. If so, then those players each shuffle their libraries.
Whenever you roll chaos, you may put a legendary creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.
Players = legendary creature cards, I s'pose.
Adisani Icecap
Plane - Daybreak (C)
At the beginning of each player's upkeeps, that player taps target permanent they control. That permanent doesn't untap during that player's untap step until a player planeswalks.
Whenever you roll chaos, tap target permanent. That permanent doesn't untap during that player's untap step until a player planeswalks.
I got the flavor from the "sudden freeze" Daybreak has.
Quicken the Destruction
Ongoing Scheme
When you set this scheme in motion or at the beginning of your upkeep, destroy target nonland permanent at random.
Whenever there are no more nonland permanents on the battlefield, abandon this scheme. "More chaos! More death! More destruction! My ascendancy is hastening!"
The Guardians are Daybreak's army - this is their coup d'etat.
Nthesue, History of Daybreak4UBR
Planeswalker - Nthesue (M)
+1: Put the top five cards of your library into your graveyard.
-2: Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
-2: Cast target instant or sorcery spell from your graveyard without paying it's mana cost. If it would be put into a graveyard, exile it instead.
-9: Exile all creature, instant, and sorcery cards from each opponent's graveyard. You may cast each card without paying their mana costs as long as they remain exiled.
5
I chose "history" as a name because Nthesue's abilities represent him "going back through time" to grab the spells and creatures from the graveyard. The ultimate represents him stealing his opponent's spells and creatures. Scary indeed.
Shuar, Addonexus3WB
Legendary Creature - Human Incarnation (M)
Lifelink, deathtouch
When Shuar enters the battlefield, exile target creature you don't control.
When Shuar dies, put the creature exiled by Shuar onto the battlefield under your control.
3/3 "It appears that you try to defy me. Very well then. I will see that your body remains in excellent condition."
Evil, pure and simple. Shuar tries to place the person who's body he's stealing in limbo, then when he inevitably dies, he comes back as that person, but under his control. Diviner.
I don't like chaos symbol - it seems too unwieldy and ugly on my screen. I'll just say "chaos" instead.
Grove of the Gargantuans
Land (R) T: Add 1 to your mana pool. If you control a creature, you may add G to your mana pool instead. If you control a creature with power 5 or greater, you may add an additional G to your mana pool.
Sunsoaked Highlands
Land (R)
Sunsoaked Highlands enters the battlefield tapped. T: Add R or W to your mana pool. R,T: Sunsoaked Highlands deals 1 damage to each player. W,T: Each player gains 1 life.
Keepwatch RecruitW
Creature - Human Soldier (U)
Sacrifice Keepwatch Recruit: Tap up to X target creatures, where X is the number of creatures you control. "It's nice that they intervene to stop these riots, but it would be preferable if they survived..."
-Elena Baren, Captain of Stonekeep
1/1
Spirit Suit3
Artifact - Equipment (U)
Equipped creature has ",T: This creature fights target attacking creature." W: Prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to equipped creature this turn.
Equip 2
Elena Baren, Battle Diviner1GW
Legendary Creature - Human Soldier (R)
Whenever Elena Baren, Battle Diviner attacks or blocks, Elena and up to two other target creatures are indestructible this turn. "First time battling the ogres, eh? Just stick to Elena and you'll be all right."
-Sergus Garnell, Stonekeep Sergeant 2/2
Langolier Annihilator3
Artifact - Langolier (R) X: Exile target permanent with converted mana cost X, then exile Langolier Annihilator with X time counters on it.
Suspend 3— 1(Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may pay 1 and exile it with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost.)
Neutralizing Net1W
Enchantment - Aura (U)
Flash
Enchant permanent
When Neutralizing Net enters the battlefield, counter target activated ability of the permanent it enchants.
Enchanted permanent's activated abilities can't be activated unless they're mana abilities.
Elena Venom-Hands1BG
Legendary Creature - Human Assassin (R)
Whenever Elena Venom-Hands attacks, other creatures you control gain deathtouch until end of turn and must be blocked if able. "She's still just as scary for our foes, but the men on our side have come to fear her just as much."
-Sergus Garnell, Stonekeep Sergeant
2/2
Murderous Destiny1B
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
At the beginning of the end step of enchanted creature's controller, that player sacrifices that creature unless another creature died this turn.
Tyrannical Order3WB
Enchantment (R)
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player sacrifices permanents until he or she control as many permanents as the player who controls the fewest permanents.
Before:
Stonekeep Marches
Plane - Daybreak (C)
At the beginning of your end step, put X 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is half the number of tapped creatures you control, rounded down.
Whenever you roll C, creatures you control gain "T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool." until end of turn.
After:
Nivolar Glacier
Plane - Daybreak (C)
At the beginning of your end step, sacrifice half of the tapped creatures you control, rounded down.
Whenever you roll C, tap up to X target creatures, where X is the number of players.
For the Distortion:
Make Their Puny Minds Spin
Scheme (C)
When you set this scheme into motion, choose two target permanents. Those permanents' owners exchange control of them. Repeat this process up to ten times.
Elena ascends:
Elena Baren1BGW
Planeswalker - Elena (M)
+2: If target opponent lost life this turn, gain that much life. If not, gain 2 life.
-2: Creatures you control have provoke and are indestructible until end of turn.
-7: You get an emblem with "Whenever a permanent is put into an opponent's graveyard from the battlefield, return a card from your graveyard to your hand."
[4]
My boss, the fallen Sandcloak:
Hanagar of the Biting Gale3UB
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard (R)
Flying
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, put a wind counter on Hanagar of the Biting Gale. Then, that player loses X life and creatures he or she controls get -X/-0 until end of turn, where X is the number of wind counters on Hanagar. Despite his old age, the storm he rides grows colder and more furious with each passing season.

Yes I suppose voting for ourselves would be the even way to do this if everyone's agreeable. Some interesting cards, hopefully we can get a few comments! I'll advertise in the next January round.
Prophylaxis's planes seemed like they would play well, although I don't think the wording is quite right on when they trigger and whatnot. I think it is possible to merge your walker's two middle abilities ("Cast target card in your graveyard without paying its mana cost," plus some sort of exile clause?) Shuar was your best card I think, with the merger of black nightmares and white O-Ring style exiling but having it come back to you instead.
MirrorEntity, I liked your scheme name and the first ability of your walker, I think the Ash Flats would be annoyingly time consuming to play with and the other plane would be kind of hard to figure out some turns. Your boss character just wasn't that exciting or new.
I liked the way Hanagar worked out of my cards, and Elena's emblem, I don't know if I should have pushed it to put a permanent back to the battlefield when you kill their stuff.
