The Story so far...
You smile as you see your adversary fall down in defeat. Suddently you are shocked by a powerful blast. You manage to recover and turn to face the coward that struck you from behind. You are shocked to see a gargantuan dragon with a great aura of magic around him. "You fool, you thought you could come here to MY realm and disrupt this place?" the dragon told you in a guttural tone in its voice. Dragons? like you haven't face them before, "Your skull would make a great trophy for my throne" you screamed at the dragon. The dragon laughed at you and answered "Your mere parlor tricks make you bold and funny! a good way to remember your passing, like so many others have been slain by Shakti, Scion of Bolas!" "Did he said Bolas???" you trembled at the tought. Bolas was infamous for his cruelty and evil. If this dragon has a fragment of Bolas' power I'll be lucky to even escape, but that I didn't think that was possible now. "I let all of you came here just for my entertainment, I watched in joy as you annihilated each other and I would get to face the most powerful of you, but you dissapointed me, I will tear out the life out of your body very easily." Shakti talked and you noticed that in the mountain below creatures began running for their lives. Seems like this has happened before. As you concentrated to gather mana something happened, you could not. The dragon laughed again. "Feel strange, my first attack closed all access to this world's mana. Now Shakti will feast on your flesh." Shakti was right, I could not access any mana of this world but he forgot about the mana reserves that I hold within my body. While my human body was destroyed a millenia ago, my current body is made out of mana and if I do it right I could defeat this dragon and reign in this brave new world forever.
The challenge: Create three (3) spells that could defeat the dragon.

7/7 The evil of Bolas surges trhrough his dark heart.
Circling the ledge Omu stood upon, the massive spawn of Nicol Bolas wasted no time on further taunting the planeswalker, head rearing back on his serpentine neck as he prepared to unleash a terrible blast of dragonfire. Omu could no longer draw on this world's mana to fuel defensive spells, but he'd never relied on them much in the past anyways - he still could feel the bonds he'd created with worthy beasts on countless worlds, ready to be called to his side. One such ally came to mind now in the split-second he had left before utter immolation: a spirit from a fiery world consumed by eternal war he had visited on occasion. Focusing on the connection that tied him to the spirit, light burst out around Omu just as a torrential blast of flame began to pour from the dragon's maw.

Whenever damage would be dealt to Forgeborn Guardian by a red source, prevent that damage. Forgeborn Guardian gets +1/+0 until end of turn for each damage prevented this way. It seeks out ever-stronger flames to temper itself to perfection.

The light solidified into a creature seemingly formed of countless blades welded together, and the flames surged around it as it intercepted the blast, Omu cursing as the heat seared his skin. The spirit's form cooked almost to melting, metal glowing white-hot, but as the flames tapered to a trickle the dragon narrowed its eyes in bemusement - both Omu and the spirit still stood. The guardian cooled rapidly, its once silver form now the menacing black of forged steel. At Omu's command it lunged at Shakti in retaliation with the twang of an unsheathed sword; tempered by the dragon's own mighty flame, Omu knew it was strong enough now to slay the beast. But before the spirit could reach its foe the dragon smirked and raised a talon, and the earth rose up around it instantly, swallowing it whole and dragging it out of Omu's reach. He felt its presence wink out as it returned to its home plane, his connection lost for the moment.
"Interesting!" the dragon laughed wickedly, the ominous sound rolling through the mountains and setting the stones at Omu's feet dancing. "So you still had a trick up your sleeve. I admit you're more cunning than I'd thought possible for a mortal of your caliber. But unfortunately this little diversion has ceased to amuse me, and there is nothing you can summon that can hope to challenge me. I will grant you this much - the honor of becoming today's meal, though I imagine such a frail morsel will hardly sate me." Almost faster than he could see, the dragon's head darted towards him, the flash of multiple rows of razor fangs each the length of Omu's arm filling his vision. Fortunately, Shakti's monologue had given Omu time to call forth a more formidable friend.

The dragon's jaws clamped shut mere inches from Omu's face, a blast of hot, musty air nearly knocking the walker off his feet as the dragon snorted in annoyed surprise. Thick, mossy vines encircled his mouth, more joining by the second, wrapping tighter as Shakti struggled with increasing agitation. Each writhing tendril that snapped was replaced by two more, and the mighty dragon was pulled back slowly, dragged down to the earth by the equally-massive tree that had taken root below them. Omu slid down the mountainside and caught himself in the elder's roots, patting her grizzled trunk in thanks and greeting. Within a matter of minutes Shakti was pinned to the ground, every limb immobilized as he thrashed about, his indignant roar muffled.
"You'll pay for this affront, worm!" the dragon sneered. "Do you truly think this pitiful plant can hold me for long? I can incinerate it at will! No, not even ashes will remain of you when I'm through... but you will live long enough to regret ever daring to defy the heir to the most powerful dragon in all the Blind Eternities!" Omu smiled grimly up at Shakti, and at his signal the elder lifted him gently to her highest bough, bringing him to his foe's eye level. He met the dragon's gaze evenly, and even the Scion of Bolas balked at the look he saw in those eyes.
"I have heard tales of your sire's fearsome power," Omu said quietly, raising his arms as he called forth energy from the deepest wells of red mana lingering dormant within him, "and do not doubt his omnipotence. Surely were it he I faced now, I would have been dead the moment he wished it so. But unfortunately... you are not the mightiest dragon I have ever met." Shakti's eyes widened in shock at the titanic form materializing above them, its terrible, oppressive aura nearly driving even Omu to his knees.

"Why have you disturbed me, Omu?" The walker suppressed a smile as Shakti was stricken speechless by the booming voice, staring up at this majestic and terrifying paragon of dragonkind; its scales were brilliant, polished gold, luminous precious jewels of countless varieties encrusted across its impenetrable hide, huge wings sweeping to block out the sky. Omu knelt, bowing deeply, and the dragon overlord gave the barest nod of recognition at the gesture of respect.
"I would never call you for something trivial, Wyrm-King." Omu pointed at Shakti, who recoiled within his bonds as Kolztuk deigned to turn his attention upon him; the treefolk elder wisely remained silent, motionless except to adjust her vines whenever her prisoner pulled against them. "I thought you might want to know of this dragon. He claims to be sovereign over all your kin, save his father; you are familiar with Bolas, I believe." Shakti let slip the draconic equivalent of a whimper as Kolztuk landed heavily beside his prone form, the massive gem-crowned head looming closer to inspect the younger dragon.
"Hrrrrmph. Does he now." His voice dripped with palpable contempt. "And yet here you are, brought low by a mere human. Listen well, runt. All the irrepressible power our kind possesses is meaningless when guided only by whim, without wisdom. To be bested so easily by this lesser creature... you can hardly be called a dragon, let alone a lord among us. Your sire wouldn't even bat an eye if I were to rip out your heart right now. I would be doing him a favor by ending your pathetic existence." Shakti's breath stilled as a glittering claw traced a lazy circle on his chest while Kolztuk spoke. "Still," he mused, pausing, letting the dragon-whelp squirm a little. "Still... perhaps we should consult him in person about this... embarrassment first, yes?" Shakti barely managed to start on a muffled protest before the Wyrm-King grabbed him unceremoniously in his talons, ripped him from the ground, and took to the sky. "These audiences are always so entertaining, Omu," he called down to the relieved planeswalker, almost as an afterthough. "I look forward to our next meeting. Don't disappoint me."
"Summoning him was quite a risk, little sapling," the elder creaked reproachfully as she lowered him carefully to the ground, Kolztuk and his captive disappearing quickly over the horizon. "But the firebreather does make a good observation. One is never bored when Omu calls." Her boughs quivered in a treefolk chuckle, and Omu couldn't help smiling as well, thanking her deeply before sending her home. Sighing as his tension released, the walker stepped to the edge of a nearby cliff, letting his legs dangle over it. This was truly a wondrous and dangerous realm. He was ready - eager - to leave it behind... but not before rebuilding his bonds with it. Omu knew he wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to return for long; so much of its land remained unexplored... and there were still inhabitants he had yet to encounter...
"Hmpf, what now? a Dragon? really? and I can't feel the mana flowing here... now that's an interesting twist!", thinks Leafar, eager to face this ultimate challenge - after all, he came all the way to this plane because he was starting to get bored at home. Shakti seems to be a formidable opponent, but not everything is lost: Leafar is no amateur, he's a really powerfull wizard, and knows that if he concentrates hard enough, he might be able to produce some mana, not much, but maybe enough to defeat his foe. He needs to be real quick, though, or he will be nothing but an appetizer to his monstruous adversary.
Searching swiftly through his mind, he comes up with the following spells:
SPELL 1: Leafar was the ruler of his mother-plane, Dasos, a huge peaceful garden where green mana flowed like nowhere else in the multiverse. His power was so great that no other individual could rival him when it came to use green magic. But it was not always like this: once upon a time, his druidic order shared the plane with vampires, necromancers and other disgusting creatures, and had a terrible time fightning against them. But then, Leafar - a promising young druid back in the day - came up with a rather powerful enchantment that turned enemies into plants or trees. That way, he not only defeated their foes, but gained territory in the process. Leafar's idea, executed with the aid of the most powerful druids in the order, was a success: ultimately, the hole plane became the peaceful garden it's today. Leafar, who little after became the leader of his order, and soon the most powerful druid the multiverse has seen in a long time, has grown powerful enough to enchant this whole plane by himself if necessary:

No, maybe that would be too much. Such an enchantment might not work on this plane... after all, it was specifically designed for Dasos. And this is too complicated a spell to cast in a situation like this, with no time to prepare and no error margin. Something else is needed.
Shakti was still bragging about being a scion of Bolas and what not, but Leafar was not paying attention any more...
SPELL 2: "God, do I hate dragons!", thought Leafar. And his thoughts took him to that one time he visited Ravnica. Back in the day, Leafar wanted to expand his knowledge on green/white magic and went off to spend some time with the dryads of Selesnya Conclave. Coincidentally, the Conclave and some other guilds were hunting down some rogue ogres - apparently some scions of Rakdos - "Sigh, I do hate so-called scions...". Anyway, Leafar didn't quite understand the overly complicated political implications, but the confrontation was a great chance to learn some whitish tricks. He liked most a simple but effective little spell some Wojek named Roklar used to keep himself out of danger:

Prevent all damage a source of your choice would deal to you or a planeswalker you control this turn. Much to the frustration of his foes, Roklar seemed to be able to evade every single thrust.
It certainly was useful against stupid ogres that get so annoyed and frustrated that became easier to kill. But no ancient dragon is going to fall for something like this. In the end, this would only win Leafar some time...
By the way, Shakti started to charge up mana: it seems like he's going to cast something big to finish this off. "Quick, quick, think!!"
SPELL 3: Then it struck his mind: "Of course! My Orb!" He had found this ancient treasure hidden in a remote plane named Zendikar. Local legend has it that it didn't even belong to that plane: some elders speak of some place called "Hespur" or "Ispr", but it really doesn't matter right now. Unfortunately, the Orb was still in Dasos... but he might have enough mana to teleport it here. "This stupid lizard will not stand a chance against my Orb!"

All creatures lose shroud. T: Exile target black creature. Then sacrifice Orb of Pure Light. Its blinding glow dispels the veil, its blinding burst repels the vile.
Now that he had decided what to do, things were easy. Leafar cast the spell and the Orb appeared before his eyes with its blinding glow. Shakti was taken by surprise and by the time the dragon realized what was going on, it was already too late: with a swift move, Leafar activated the Orb and, with a burst of light that painted white the whole plane, the dragon was gone. The Orb shattered into pieces and, for a moment, Leafar was sorry he had to use it. But, in the end, survival comes first.
The path was, once again, clear for Leafar.

Thread stuck, and I edited the submissions into the first post. Most people don't want to have to click on a link to see what they should be voting on. 15 days is also a really long voting period, but I guess that's fine.
The first card was kind of a toss-up for me, Kiwi's is kind of interesting and reminds me of Kookus for some reason. ParaSiempre's is probably too good at 3 mana to neutralize all creatures, and I don't know what a green deck would do without creatures.
ParaSiempre made a decent core set common, while Kiwi's feels like a core set rare, for the second card. Both are fine.
The last card is where I think Kiwi takes it, although the dragon lord that doesn't let other dragons attack doesn't seem like the most fun implementation of a lord, I think it's better than the awkward "lose shroud" ability. ParaSiempre's card just feels like it has no place outside of this particular challenge.
Ah, I'd almost forgotten the poll was still running! Good game, ParaSiempre, and thanks for a challenging and interesting CCL Krey!
Although I would still like to hear from a couple more voters what they actually thought of our cards. Maybe in the future we could experiment with providing some sort of small bonus incentive for critiquing final-round cards, like a bonus point or two in the next month's CCL?

Thanks to all of you for playing, and Congratulations to Twilight Kiwi for winning June's CCL. This was my first time hosting the CCL and it was fun, hope to do it again but after a couple of months... wanna create some more cards. Since I was hosting I did not cast a vote because I would not wanted to take sides. both of you guys are really great storytellers.
ParaSiempre's card are nice but seem too simplistic. Sylvan Assymilation while innovative could put a stop too a green that relies on creatures too win. Dodge does not solve the problem of the dragon. The Orb seems a bit strange since shroud seems to a slice of blue's pie and blue and white are friends. And that puts it at odds with the exile (a white ability) a black creature. I know that having to make your cards with a max of three mana is hard, you made some very nice choices of mechanics. I seen many host tell about how your first card is gonna influence your other cards but never seemed to accomplish it, I decided to have them influence your cards from the beginning and it showed into the whole CCL. Other than that the story was great and showed us a facet of your planeswalker, and that was a great idea.
Twilight's cards are nice too. The guardian seems like a strange creature, damage prevention in red seems a bit out of color. but feels more like a top-down design with a very nice flavor. The Elder is very good and vigilance helps its ability. This would be a very good card on its own. The flavor is great and how you use it in the challenge works very good. The wyrm-king is really mythic. Powerful no doubt and a great finisher. Nicely costed in with no colorless mana in its cost. Your story was really exciting and no doubt it along with your cards put you over the top.

Back in the day, Leafar wanted to expand his knowledge on green/white magic and went off to spend some time with the dryads of Selesnya Conclave. Coincidentally, the Conclave and some other guilds were hunting down some rogue ogres - apparently some scions of Rakdos - "Sigh, I do hate so-called scions...". Anyway, Leafar didn't quite understand the overly complicated political implications, but the confrontation was a great chance to learn some whitish tricks. He liked most a simple but effective little spell some Wojek named Roklar used to keep himself out of danger:

Prevent all damage a source of your choice would deal to you or a planeswalker you control this turn.
Much to the frustration of his foes, Roklar seemed to be able to evade every single thrust.
It certainly was useful against stupid ogres that get so annoyed and frustrated that became easier to kill. But no ancient dragon is going to fall for something like this. In the end, this would only win Leafar some time...
By the way, Shakti started to charge up mana: it seems like he's going to cast something big to finish this off. "Quick, quick, think!!"
SPELL 3: Then it struck his mind: "Of course! My Orb!" He had found this ancient treasure hidden in a remote plane named Zendikar. Local legend has it that it didn't even belong to that plane: some elders speak of some place called "Hespur" or "Ispr", but it really doesn't matter right now. Unfortunately, the Orb was still in Dasos... but he might have enough mana to teleport it here. "This stupid lizard will not stand a chance against my Orb!"

Its blinding glow dispels the veil, its blinding burst repels the vile.
The path was, once again, clear for Leafar.

My First (And Probably Only) MCC Perfect Score: December 09 (Round One)
ParaSiempre made a decent core set common, while Kiwi's feels like a core set rare, for the second card. Both are fine.
The last card is where I think Kiwi takes it, although the dragon lord that doesn't let other dragons attack doesn't seem like the most fun implementation of a lord, I think it's better than the awkward "lose shroud" ability. ParaSiempre's card just feels like it has no place outside of this particular challenge.

ParaSiempre's card are nice but seem too simplistic. Sylvan Assymilation while innovative could put a stop too a green that relies on creatures too win. Dodge does not solve the problem of the dragon. The Orb seems a bit strange since shroud seems to a slice of blue's pie and blue and white are friends. And that puts it at odds with the exile (a white ability) a black creature. I know that having to make your cards with a max of three mana is hard, you made some very nice choices of mechanics. I seen many host tell about how your first card is gonna influence your other cards but never seemed to accomplish it, I decided to have them influence your cards from the beginning and it showed into the whole CCL. Other than that the story was great and showed us a facet of your planeswalker, and that was a great idea.
Twilight's cards are nice too. The guardian seems like a strange creature, damage prevention in red seems a bit out of color. but feels more like a top-down design with a very nice flavor. The Elder is very good and vigilance helps its ability. This would be a very good card on its own. The flavor is great and how you use it in the challenge works very good. The wyrm-king is really mythic. Powerful no doubt and a great finisher. Nicely costed in with no colorless mana in its cost. Your story was really exciting and no doubt it along with your cards put you over the top.
