I'm going to reuse an ability i used in the winner is judge Justorn, the Mediator2WU
Legendary Creature - Human Advisor
Whenever a player casts a spell, each player may discard a card. If more than half the players discard a card this way, then counter that spell. The people have spoken, and they do not approve.
3/4
I hate degenerate combos. Everyone but the person with the degenerate combo hates degenerate combos. This stops a card (normally a degenerate combo piece) if more than half the table wants it gone. Was originally an EDH general, but works fine in normal multiplayer too.
Design a keyword that could be used for a pirate-themed block.
Face of the Traitor 1R
Enchantment--Aura (uncommon)
Enchant player
Creatures attack enchanted player each turn if possible. Alda looked upon the small, unassuming man, and immediately felt an overpowering hatred. Her bow strained against her back. "You, then," she said, "must be the one who brought the darkness. The one who, it is said, even the grass of this plane yearns to destroy without knowing why."
Boroughderm2GG
Creature - Beast (R)
Trample
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, he or she may draw a card. If he or she does, put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
A weird specimen, the Boroughderm will feed you before feeding on you.
4/4
Tournament of the PrimesWUBRG
Legendary Enchantment (MR)
When ~ enters the battlefield, each player may search his or her library for a creature card and put it into play. Those creatures are champion creatures in addition to their other types and they gain "This creature cannot be the target of spell's or abilities your opponents control.". As long as ~ is on the battlefield, only those creatures may attack or block .
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, if that player is the only player to control a champion creature, that player wins the game.
This is Dueling Grounds with a new twist. I can see your idea of Champions being a possible one since they are pretty much "pitted" against each other. It's got an epic feel to it too, the biggest guys duking it out and all. I just don't like how it's inelegant, and it can either make or break a Multiplayer game. The cost is very random, but it kind of fits to give it a little restriction. What if all the Champion creatures are gone? Wouldn't you need to replay Tournament of the Primes again to cancel the effect of a stalemate? After all, Wrath effects are common in multiplayer games, and this would suffer from such a scenario.
Flash
When Veto enters the battlefield, each player reveals their hand then names a nonland card. 2: Return to its owner's hand target spell or permanent named as Veto entered the battlefield.
Way too confusing, since there are way to many memory issues with this card. I get the effect, but the way it's printed, it would only lead to confusion. Perhaps let their hands be revealed at all times? But that would make it a more powerful Telepathy.
Aijsultan, the Absolutist3UBR
Legendary Creature - Demon King
Shroud, Lifelink, Indestructible
At the begging of your upkeep, sacrifice ~ unless you sacrifice three other creatures.
Whenever ~ attacks, ~ deals 3 damage to each creature on the battlefield.
8/8 "Forsaking his humanity, King Aijsultan bound himself to an eternal pact of demonhood by killing half his own nation for the sake of his own immortality." - Kingdom Whispers
Why is there Lifelink? Seriously, things shouldn't be Baneslayer Angels for the sake of trying to make it awe-inspiring powerful, even if the effect can net you a lot of life as Congregate would. Anyway, way too overpowered, even with the drawback. If this lives for even one turn, it would net too much life for you, and for an effect like that, I don't see it in Grixis colors.
Justorn, the Mediator2WU
Legendary Creature - Human Advisor
Whenever a player casts a spell, each player may discard a card. If more than half the players discard a card this way, then counter that spell. The people have spoken, and they do not approve.
3/4
Ah, now this is indeed a political card. Something that requires people to think and decide if they really want a certain spell to connect or not. As an EDH general, it's strictly for Multiplayer, but I'm not sure if it would be used at all due to it's linear uses. The ability itself is very balanced, and it does invoke a sense of teamwork and negotiation...and it can really put someone in a weird position if they are the ones becoming a little too powerful for the table.
I see this card as both good and bad. Good because it can get people to take out someone at first. Bad because of two things: If the enchanted player already has a strong army, it basically puts every other player in a weird position to not focus on themselves or other people who may be building up their forces. The other bad is that it says "I don't like this person, make him go away". It's not a political card, more like a "No Access Granted" card.
Boroughderm2GG
Creature - Beast (R)
Trample
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, he or she may draw a card. If he or she does, put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
A weird specimen, the Boroughderm will feed you before feeding on you.
4/4
It's a Howling Mine for green. Not particularly devestating, but it can help everyone else and yourself in Multiplayer, making you a crowd favorite. The cost seems about right, and it doesn't pull out any thing that's too dramatic. Not bad, though it can cause problems when your opponent(s) get too much card advantage.
Rage Unleashed1R Enchantment - (R)
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player may choose to have Rage Unleashed deal 3 damage to target creature or player. The flames consumed all that was impure, leaving only the righteous.
A card that behaves similarly to Howling Mine. A card that wants to get the game done quicker. It does support politics on board control but the problem is that in a 1v1 game, the effect is sort of overpowered since it can shut down all early game control on your side and theirs and it happens each upkeep. Make it 2 mana more and it would be fine.
A very simple card. It reminds me of Vision Skeins in a way. I'm not too entirely sure about this one other then it can create alliances with another team member, which is always nice in a Multiplayer game. Not bad.
Hall of Corruption3UB
Enchantment {R}
Pay 4 life: Counter target spell. Any player may activate this ability.
Like Morgu's card, this Enchantment puts people in a Semi-Lock in Single player. In Multiplayer, it does great with politics but it gets to a point that people may not have anything to cast at all due to the fear of it being countered, thus putting the board on a stalemate.
EDIT: Due to not seeing things well late at night.
Atrocious Acquisition3BBB
Sorcery (R)
Each player loses 3 life. Then, put a black horror creature token with flying and trample onto the battlefield under control of the player with the least life. Its power and toughness are each equal to amount of life lost this way. If two or more players are tied for the least life, you choose one of them.
So a Breath of Malfegor that rewards the player with the least life a very strong dude. This card is actually pretty all right in terms of power and balance. It can backfire on you if you have an opponent with a kill spell waiting for you (which is usually the case) but that's kind of the whole point since you are giving someone a big dude and he or she already has a good side on their field. Even in 1v1 it seems to be an ok card if you can manage the life loss. Innovative. I like this card a lot despite on how it may backfire sometimes.
Blondebeard. Way to go. Despite your card lacking strength in Single Player and possibly EDH, your card did meet the criteria perfectly. If it was something else, Kev the Walker would take it without a doubt, so he gets Honorable Mention.
Design a keyword that could be used for a pirate-themed block.
