The name has changed, but this is The Dare Game. Here are the rules. This contest starts with 32 players, and every player issues a challenge. I'll go over what that means later on the page, but for now think of something like what you do in the Request game or the FCC. Next, I pair everybody up randomly and everyone makes a card based on their opponent's challenge. From each pair only one player moves on to the next round, and in the end there will be one winner. He (or she) gets to know that he (or she) is a master of card design and wins the privilege to host the next contest. I hope to make this a tradition, like the Single Elimination Contest.
Da Rulez: When you give your challenge, if I decide that it's too specific or too general I will amend it as I see fit. The goal is to have something that could be the challenge for the FCC, and anything that has been an FCC challenge is fair game obviously. In addition, you some up with two criteria that if your opponent meets they get a bonus point again like the FCC. For example:
Player one: Count me in. I challenge my opponent to make a Vampire creature or tribal card. I award one bonus point if it's not mono black and one bonus point if it's converted mana cost is four or less.
Player have the right to call Dare on their opponent. What that means is that they have to make a card for their own challenge. For more details on this process see the discussion thread but in short if you give an unreasonably difficult request you can have it thrown back at you.
Grading: Both players are graded using the current FCC scale. 2 points are for the bonuses, 10 points for balance, 5 for flavor, 4 for creativity, and 4 for quality. For questions on how this works, see the FCC threads.
Important Note: The scores here are relative to the challenge. If for example you are challenged to make a flip creature where both sides are playable (See December FCC: Round Two) you won't lose points in quality for doing something the rules don't allow. If challenged to make a mono white goblin I will be very forgiving in terms of flavor. If your challenge gets turned back to you though you get no special considerations. So be careful when you choose your challenge.
Round Structure: First there is a sign up phase, and please give your challenge in that post. I'll PM anyone whose challenge is need of a change, and work with them if possible to make them reasonable. Then I announce pairings, and any changes to the challenges that are necessary, and a deadline. In your card posts, put up both your card for that round and the challenge you want to give the next round. We repeat in this way until we have a winner.
Sign up list: I'll take at most 32 players, but 16 should be enough. It all depends on the level of interest.
Make a three color counterspell, where one of the colors is blue.
Bonuses:
- You can choose between four options by means of "Choose one--..."
- One of the options you can choose involves a creature, but doesn't counter it.
Challenge: Make a card that makes milling a constructed viable strategy in the current environment (and by current environment I mean that the card submited should be judged in the current standard: Xth-LOR-MOR-SHA-EVE-SOA; I'm not taking into account T1, T3, T4 or TX if X!=2).
Bonus (1): It's either black or blue but not black AND blue.
Bonus (2): It's not a creature.
OBS: I'm not asking for the faeries successor, something allowing a rogue deck would be fine for me.
As for the challenge: Create a spell that involves rolling a six-sided die. Although it could be a permanent, the rolling ability must only trigger once(unless it gets recast, somehow. I don't know, be creative).
Bonus point if it provides a list of results/variables based on the roll. And another if the rolling ability possibly/always involves rolling more than three dice.
Challenge: Make a card that comes into play under an opponent control. At first, it must benefit the opponent didn't benefit you at all... But who knows who laugh last?
Bonus if it is a creature.
Bonus if it is multicolor.
15. Rocket_Powered_Turbo_Slug - Challenge TBA

Please include your round one challenge in your first post.
I haven't been here in awhile... Let's try this out. Count me in.
Edit:Oops, forgot the challenge.

Make a monoblack permanent that converts one resource into another. 1 Bonus point for neither resource being life. 1 bonus point for the amount converted being scalable (being able to be activated multiple times in the same turn counts.)

Challenge: Make a planeswalker card themed on countering spells.
Bonus (1): one of its abilities reads "counter target spell." (and NOTHING MORE).
Bonus (2): it has one ability that reads "counter target spell" (but not necessarily only this) and it's one of his + abilities.
This is the most insidious kind of challenge. It's something you can't do in the rules, but there are some ways I know of the get around it. I want to use this to illustrate an example. Say someone does this
Counterguy1UU
Planeswalker - Name
+X <Ability 1>
-Y Counter target spell.
-Z <Ability 3>
Loyalty: N
This would get the player a big quality deduction because ability two doesn't function. Planeswalker abilities can only be played when the stack is empty, so it would never have a target. I said that I'd take the challenge into consideration, but here's the thing: There are ways to make 'walkers that do counter properly and I know of more than one. If whoever simply ignores the problem they will get 0/4 on quality because it was very possible to fix the problem.
I'm going to rule that the addition of text allowing the ability to function doesn't count against "and nothing more" for the first bonus point. After all, the bonus has to be possible. Any text beyond the minimum to function at all would make you lose the bonus point. It is after all a "bonus" point.
I thought I signed up already... I guess it was too early in the morning for me to press post.
Anyhow, The Dare
Create a creature with 0 or negative toughness. Bonus points for not including some type of ability to boost itself and making it hybrid.
As for the challenge: Create a card that involves rolling a six-sided die.
Bonus point if it provides a list of results/variables based on the roll(ala Strategy Schmategy). And another if the rolling ability possibly/always involves several targets.

That's pretty harsh, especially the second bonus point. Dice rolling is already pretty tabboo, and 3D6 is getting on to crazy. I want to make a suggestion that is more in line with what a (cruel) FCC round might be:
Make a card involves rolling a six sided die. Bonus points if (1) only one die is ever rolled for the card , and (2) card is nonred.

Silly Kenaron, the three+ dice don't have to all add up to one number!
But yeah, it's a bit restictive. I'll take out the "only once" clause and a few other things tonight.
Players have 'till the list fills to make whatever changes they want. I'm not sure how many people would be good for this, 16 or 32. I'm leaning to 16 now since this is a new idea, but it could be 32 the next time around. At any rate, if more people sign up and some of the top members haven't put a challenge I'm moving on with the players who have challenges, so everybody get something up as soon as possible.
It seems a lot of these challenges are unfairly tough; they either MAY result in rules nightmares or extremely limited design space. For instance, I feel CXA26483's challenge practically dictates what the card should look like. Kenaron, could you try and keep the challenges easier? And to everyone else, please have some consideration when setting the challenges. If you want to win, you should win by your own merit, not by actively sabotaging the other person.

Can you believe some fella actually piloted THIS deck to victory at a recent FNM near my house? For god's sake, it runs THIRTY-FOUR LANDS!

There are a few challenges that at this point I think I'm going to change for the sake of fairness. That said, if you get one of the ridiculously impossible challenges all you have to do is throw it back at the person who slung it in the first place. The idea is that you sling the hardest challenge you think you can pull off, and I think some of y'all are being overambitious. Before going to round one I'm going to announce the necessary changes so any challenge is at least doable in my eyes, and this will also involve some editing of the bonus points. But hey, this is a first time through a new game so some of this is to be expected.

Kenaron,
I'm really sorry, I concoted the challenge pretty quickly and absolutelly forgot the empty-stack stuff. I totally agree with the additions you did to the challenge in order to make it possible. However, if you think the request is still unfair, I'm absolutelly open to the idea of creating a new one.
I'll tweek challenges as necessary once everybody has one, but in the meantime if you want to go with something easier feel free. I suggest it in fact, because I assume as is your opponent is just going to dare you to do it.

Milling card, that's fine. The big about being constructed worthy is implied by the challenge. I'm not up on vintage, and if anyone's trying to make a card for vintage they are likely going to break standard or rely on some obscure combo I'm not aware of. The FCC is usually concerned with Standard, so that's what I'll be looking at. First bonus point looks easy, black or blue but not both. This does kill hybrid but I think that's okay. Second bonus point for noncreature, again shouldn't be a problem.
Challenge: Make a card that comes into play under an opponent control. At first, it must benefit the opponent didn't benefit you at all... But who knows who laugh last?
Bonus if it is a creature.
Bonus if it is multicolor.
Is this how you post it?
Well, I ended up take over your suggestion, thanks Kenaron.
-Cryptic Command used to be Jon Finkel's Piracy Charm until WotC adopts it and print it in rare.
-Dragon Fodder was a good card... before you see Finkel Fodder1R Sorcery, Put two 4/4 red dragon creature with flying into play.
-The Shards of Alara's convergence is due to their awareness on Jon Finkel breaking their format. They gather power, even called Nicol Bolas to delay Jon Finkel.
