The great eye looked beyond its own reality and into the vast pool of glittering worlds. A delightful chill ran the length of the massive spine as it smiled a toothy grin
. The world flared in front of Waegen and then dimmed. When the smoke cleared she found herself in the middle of a truly bizarre landscape. Above her five moons, each of a different hue, shone down and reflected rainbows of light off the silvery ocean. She stood on a misshapen metallic ledge that overlooked a vast, rolling sea of quicksilver.
Brus coughed behind her as he waved the smoke from her planeswalking out of his face. “Couldn’t you at least give us some warning before you erupted into a fireball?”
Waegen smiled at the dour Vedalken, “Not likely.”
Coiloon Molbanni walked up to them. “Alright, alright. No time for bickering, you two. In case you’ve forgotten, there is a magical plague twisting the light of the multiverse.
Waegen surveyed the abundance of metal around her. It all looked too perfect, too . . . orderly. “Yeah, this place is definitely evil.”
“But doesn’t that mean we’re too late, Molbanni? It’s too late for this plane,” Brus said.
The elderly human looked around, “Looks like you’re right. This is an artificial plane known as Mirrodin. I sent an agent here a few weeks ago to observe the change—and hopefully prevent it—but I lost contact with him. I sent someone else here to track him down, another planeswalker by the name of Tezzeret, and he’s requested some help.
“My task for you two is to help him in whatever way you can and to continue studying the effects of this plague. Go to the area known as the Glimmervoid, its name has become must more appropriate as late, there should find Tezzeret. It’s due east, not too far. I’ll contact you once I’ve had time to go over your findings from the last plane. I’m sure they’ll be of great use to my superior.”
My Superior? Waegen thought. She had been under the impression that they were helping only Molbanni himself. Just how many planeswalkers were working on this she wondered?
“Well, I guess we should go find this Tezzeret,” Brus said.
Waegen started walking, “Yeah, you scientist types are so smart.”
Without allowing Brus a chance to respond she reached inside her soul and cast a spell, a beacon for something to help her. Green energy flared up around her and in just a few seconds a great reptilian beast raced to them out. She put a palm up to it and the monster stopped just short of crushing Brus underfoot.
It bent its massive head down and allowed Waegen to climb on top of its neck. She noticed long curved blades growing out of its scales at seemingly random places. At first she thought it must have survived a great deal of battles, but with a closer look she realized that these metal bits were growing out of its skeleton. Disgusting. Waegen decided that she was much more eager to leave than she had thought.
“Oh, I think I’ve heard of this before,” Brus said, “a karstoderm I believe. I’ve read one or two descriptions of Mirrodin before. I can’t believe I’m actually here.”
“Hm, excuse me if I want to sightsee later. Maybe after we save the multiverse. “
She kicked the side of the, what’d he call it, karsoderm, and it ran east. Brus was left coughing, once again.
By the time he caught up to her Tezzeret had already explained the situation to her. This first agent that Molbanni sent, some guy named Venser, was there when the change happened and it seemed that he lost all memory—or at least most memory—of ever working for the good guys. He’d gone rogue and decided that dark Mirrodin was a nice place to set up shop and subjugate its peoples.
“This Molbanni guy really knows how to pick ‘em,” she said once she’d given the update.
“All’s not lost. I’ve made a device that could capture even someone as powerful as Venser, the problem is that he has to touch it,” Tezzeret said. “He’s way past trusting me at this point, but maybe one of you two could make something that would entice him.”
“I think I could easily make some sort of artifact that might pique his interest. Your device could be hidden within it,” Brus said.
“Sure, let’s go up to the insane planeswalker with a metal fetish and offer him more toys. Bad idea. I say we whip up one of these metal beasts and send it at him. He might be curious enough to let it attack him once. And that’s all we need, right Tezzy?”
“Yeah, either one of those has potential,” Tezzeret said. “Hm, I’m not quite sure which one has the best chance though. . .
Thanks for joining up for another (hopefully) fun month of creating with the CCL.
Which plan will the heroes go with? Looks like it’s up to you to decide.
First though, vote in the poll above, (and don’t vote for yourself!) the top four mechanic-creators get a free point.

1T4: Last strike (This creature deals combat damage after creatures without last strike.)
I’m sure you all remember the story so far (check here if you want all the details), the mysterious Coiloon Molbanni has asked two very different planeswalkers for some help in stopping a magical plague that is spreading through the multiverse, sapping all goodness from plane after plane.
This round’s challenge is to create an artifact in flavor with Mirrodin. Check the team lists to see what kind of artifact you’ll be forging. The problem is that the strange magicks that have tainted your efforts and so this artifact must be twisted into something evil.
Critiques start on Oct. 5 at noon (Eastern time) or until everyone has designed a card.
Oh, here are the teams, by the way.
Secondary challenge: make an artifact creature.

Wow I need to learn to read directions!! Take a vote off of cumulative delay and add one to erase please! (I know you can't actually do it, just when we're tallying the final vote if you could take that into consideration I would be much apprechiated)
Sorry I wrote that stuff up right before I left work and didn't get a chance to proofread any of it.
Secondary challenge applies as well. Therefore someone on Brus's team would make a noncreature artifact from an evil version of Mirrodin. A Waegen teamster would make an artifact creature from an evil Mirrodin. Make sense?
And to answer MindWrencher's questions about making an existing creautre--I'm fine with that, I'd frown upon making a mirror of an existing card (compare Lorwyn and Shadowmoor for a bunch of examples of that.) Then again, I'm not the one critiqueing

I'm slightly confused. Other than the name, MagicProf's and mine mechanic are almost identical. I came up with the idea first, and I'm just wondering. If there're no points attached, fine, but otherwise...

Artifact {R}
Whenever an artifact becomes the target of a spell or ability, it's controller sacrifices it. "Has the greatest disaster of our time really come, or is this just a precursor of the atrocities to come."
EDIT: Completely changed everything; last one didn't feel 'corrupted' enough
Jix, Hubris as Steel1WB
Legendary Artifact- Equipment
Equipped creatures gets +3/+0, Lifelink and "This creature must attack each turn if able"
At the beginning of each upkeep, ~'s controller loses 3 life and its owner gains 3 life.
Once ~ is attached to a creature, you may not play any of its activated abilites
When the creature ~ is equipped to is put into the graveyard, equip ~ to target creature. If an opponent controls that creature, they gain control of ~.
Equip 1WB The spirit of pride incarnate, trapped inside an ordinary hammer.
I'm both a valiant and clever person; abrasive and quick-witted with my own unique set of standards. What I value in my life is autonomy, power, and righteousness; I do whatever I want so long as I fell that it is justified by my own principles, damn what others think. At my best I am glorious, exciting, and courageous; at my worst I am merciless, destructive, and violent.

Artifact (MR)
Whenever a player taps a permanent, that player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
Pay half your life rounded up: Tap all permanents target player controls. As the taint swept through Mirrordin, many things were changed completely, others however were only altered increasing their power to unforseen levels.

To make myself clear about my submission, the effect and the required revealed card is also able to change. It's not always a land and destroying a land, it just was in this one's case.
Wraith Cortex

Wraith Cortex gets -1/-1 for each nonartifact, nonland permanent you control.

Solar Devourer2WBB

Staff of Enclosure5
Artifact - Equipment R Imprint - When Staff of Enclosure comes into play, remove from the game a creature card from your hand.
Equiped creature gets +X/+Y, where X is imprinted creature's power and Y is imprinted creature's thoughness.

Signature courtesy of Zaphod and High_Light Studios. You guys rawk.
Can you believe some fella actually piloted THIS deck to victory at a recent FNM near my house? For god's sake, it runs THIRTY-FOUR LANDS!
My critiques are general comments, with indications imbedded into them. I mainly look at balance, flavor, and sheer awesomesss (Yet it possible to get 'perfect' in two, and not the other.)
Long5h0t
-So, what we have here is a creature that would excel in block contructed, be decent limited, and sideboard standard, and avoiding most other formats.
-5 for a 4/4 is a standard. It's indestructible, yes, but it's other ability does sorta weaken it.
-I get the fact it releases the 'taint' when hit, but corrupter makes it sound like a more proactive thing
-Twisted Mirroden is fun, ain't it? It's a solid card, but it's not an exceptional start to this month's.
Slikenfist
-I get a 2/1 for three with flash, with a chance to weaken/kill a creature? It's a colorless Pestermite, except no where near as interesting. Not because of anything in particular, but the reverse Modular doesn't do much for me.
-This would fit a set, and it's useful, but Inhibit isn't a perfect parrale to Modular and the card just doesn't scream anything in particular
-Flavor nitpick Yaviyma IS NOT IN Mirrodin. Not at all. If you used the Tangle, you would have got points.
-I get the feeling I'm going to be saying this a lot. Solid, but not much else.
Kami of Randomness
-It's strange because it becomes stronger as it becomes weaker, but weaker as it get's stronger
-Flavor takes a few seconds to chew on, but when you get it's like ''ok, that works."
-It's cool in the sense it took more chances compartively, and it really is one of the cards that really makes you think.
-Honorable mention if not T3
Lorgalis
-Considering it's an artifact, why is just a beast. I mean we have a mechanical goat, why not something else My mistake on that. I guess. If it makes sense to Wizards...
-Rust is probably a closer match to Modular, but it doesn't change much.
-The reverse ravenger mirrors the Triskillious and Grim Poppet relation, but like that before it, it's useful, but fails to obtain the same hype and level
-Removal is always good
-Another Solid, but nothing else...
Autumn Willow
-Finally something that actually inspires me.
-The card is flavorful, balanced, and fun. It's the first or second card to really catch my eye
-The limited deathtouch is a great touch, and it's stats are good.
-What really gets me though is Blacksteel. It's generic, but really cool. I can even imagine Whitesteel, Bluesteel, etc.
-Top 3 material for sure.
FruiouslySleepingIdea
-Cute, but is that it?
-Solid attacker, but I doubt I'd sack an artifact for a thropter.
-May I say it again? Cute, but not really inspiring.
-I could even go so far to say it isn't even twisted. I could imagine this in MIR.
-Balanced yes, but not inspiring.
Ace
-Cortex? Okay. Seems interesting enough
-Decent fat, a bit powerful in block, but useless everywhere else.
-Why is this not black and/or artifact? It confuses me. It's missing one element or the other.
-I like that fact it get weaker the more you use it and that the tokens are slated to be sacked, but it doesn't get me
-cool concept, not much else to say.
Catarax
-For a newcomer this impresses me.
-Solid card with a good, synergetic abilities, that culminate to a cool creature.
-Then entire card just resonates with me
-Thumbs Up, this is a great card.
BlackBull
-Sadist? Yes. There we go. This guy is the perfect mix of the tainted world and the original one.
-Flavorwise good
-A bit over the curve, but useful
-I have difficult saying much about cards I actually like, especially in the CCL. Top 3 notated.
MindWrencher
-Sadly, I can't judge critiques and non existent cards.
T3
1. Catarax
2. Willow
3. BlackBull

Equip 1WB
The spirit of pride incarnate, trapped inside an ordinary hammer.
What does this remind you of?
Artifact (MR)
Whenever a player taps a permanent, that player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
Pay half your life rounded up: Tap all permanents target player controls.
As the taint swept through Mirrordin, many things were changed completely, others however were only altered increasing their power to unforseen levels.

The "P" in my name comes from a magicthegathering.com article in which they were contemplating adding a sixth color to Magic for Planar Chaos. here is a link to that article

Wraith Cortex gets -1/-1 for each nonartifact, nonland permanent you control.

“That monster devoured the sun, and all that shone out was the symbol on its head. It grew brighter and brighter as the light disappeared. And for the first time in my life, I ran into the darkness, fearing the light.”

My Flawless Score MCC Card | My Other One | # Three!
Tainted Artifact Land
Pay 1 Life, :symtap:: Add to your mana pool.
Soon after Phyrexia came upon Mirrodin's supple flesh, it was decided they would complete the work of it's long-forgotten maker. Their work began on the site of Taj-Nar, renamed on that day: Phyrexia Nuex.
-
For use with effects looking for 'tainted' permanents or spells, or for "If tainted mana was spent to play" effects.
Artifact Creature - Demon
Flying
If ~ would block or be blocked by a non-artifact creature, destroy that creature.
The Demons brought blacksteel to Mirrodin, and leave it to destroy everything.
4/4
I figured that was the case. I didn't change it just in case though. And I assumed people would figure that it could apply to any land type.

Thought of the Month:
I gave up from trying to require the 'i' on my name: SolesticIo

Artifact - Equipment R
Imprint - When Staff of Enclosure comes into play, remove from the game a creature card from your hand.
Equiped creature gets +X/+Y, where X is imprinted creature's power and Y is imprinted creature's thoughness.

Equip 3, pay 2 life
Rusting Titan 3
Artifact Creature - Golem
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a -1/-1 counter on ~.

They are rendered motionless by their own sheer bulk - until the bulk starts rusting away.

Lorgalis
-
Considering it's an artifact, why is just a beast. I mean we have a mechanical goat, why not something elseMy mistake on that. I guess. If it makes sense to Wizards...-Rust is probably a closer match to Modular, but it doesn't change much.
