Welcome to the end of time. On a Plane about to enter into true Armageddon, a world where powerful mages are so skilled in their art, the very mana they wield can change upon a whim. They have uncovered all the secrets behind their anceint spellwork, and grown powerful and wise, boldly mastering power they were never supposed to hold. The most advanced mages are referred to as Gods, and have already amassed their armies. When mana in it's most brutal form collides the question isn't who will come out on top, but wheither anyone will survive. Welcome to Trauth.
The only other bit of flavor that creative has come up with is the Gods themselves...
When designing both mechanics and cards, concentrate on convertion abilities. Making permanents into spells (transmute), and ideas into a force (pitch cards). Even the laws matter should be challenged (shadow).
We have a place, a premise, and a guide. Now what is next in the creation of a set? An image. Your challenge will to be to solidify the image of the plane into your cards. There are ten houses of mana which need to be represented, and a God for each one. Each house needs it's own distinct feel; an angle of attack. So go for it, but don't be afraid to mix it up. We are pulling from Norse mythology but we arn't a slave to it. The names of the gods are even just placeholders at this point.
These challenges are not representative of the theme, but the next challenges will be. So getting into the frame of mind of our theme is highly suggested.
Create a God. Seriously, a non-planeswalker. Make it powerful but in the Mishra sense (balanced powerful), not the tarmgoyf powerful (all decks auto-include 4)
Choose from one of the following five:
WBR-Thor
URG-Geirrod

WUB-Odin
WUG-Freya
RGW-Baldur
BGW-Sleipnir

Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.

To him,
Nothing has worth
Unless it belongs
To someone else.
It is not the lust for wealth
That drives him
Simply the hunter's thrill,
And the moment
Of acquisition.
Nothing is truly your own.
It is his –
Whether you know it or not.

Wow, this what happens when two slightly conflicting things collide. I like how it turned out though.
You need to clarify the goal for Odin's team though. From what I understand we're making a card that represents the philosphy of one of the Gods?
OH! We make a card that fits into one of the 'Alchemtic House' aka tricolor group. Interesting round idea you have here.

In the event of a tie for the shortest amount of time, all are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “world rule.”
Jörmungandr, alternately referred to as the World Serpent, is a sea serpent of the Norse mythology, the middle child of the giantess Angrboða and the god Loki.
The last meeting between the serpent and Thor is predicted to occur at Ragnarök, when Jörmungandr will come out of the ocean and poison the sky. Thor will kill Jörmungandr and then walk nine paces before falling dead, having been intoxicated by the serpent's poison.

1) If you are not on a team then, unfortunately you did not make the cut. I opened the game for sign ups for seventy-two hours and wound up with twenty-four signed up. As I planned, and stated in the sign-ups, that meant that random.org would decide the twenty that got in. If you are not on a team then you did not get in.
2) I'm running the round from different points in the development in the set, where the challenges will have a requirement based upon inefficiencies in the flavor from the creative side. This time you are provided vague flavor guidelines (the hook for the set, the name of the gods which will be represented as cards, possibly under different names, and R&D's thematic angle without any actual new mechanics or even a specific direction). It's supposed to be vague.
3) Specific responses:
1T4: That's what happens when anyone (including myself) tries to read my atrocious handwriting, whoops. Freya is WUG.
Seratonin: The 15 word restriction is based upon two beliefs. Creating a card to reflect a major character is harder then creating a flavorful instant or sorcery, and that the most flavorful instants/sorceries are flavorful due to being short and sweet.
menma: You are on team Odin so your challenge will be to create a three color spell from the list (WUB-Odin, WUG-Freya, RGW-Baldur, BGW-Sleipnir, RWU-Freyr)
solesticio:my bad.

ah ok. As it says "where cardname is one word" I understood it would be just one word. ok then thanks
EDIT: I had a card already done...now I notice that combination disappeared from the list -_- there's still the same combination for 2 gods...is the challenge NOW finalized (what's in the spoiler is official and correct?)?
(btw, we, Odin's, have 5 tri-combinations, all of them with W :S I don't know if it was pretended, but it limits our choices)
Geirrod, of the Iron Castle3URG
Legendary Creature - Giant Lord
Protection from white and from black
Whenever Geirrod, of the Iron Castle attacks or blocks, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn and you choose one: it deals 3 damage to target creature or player; or put a 3/3 blue, red, and green Giant creature token into play under your control; or return target creature an opponent controls to its owner’s hand.
[4/3]
He has pro white/black because his almighty enemy mythologically is Thor. In the main story that involves him, he: slung red-hot coals (red incinerate effect), had two daughters (green babymaking effect), and had his daughters attempt to flood a river to stop Thor from arriving at his castle (blue bounce effect). He's relatively fragile for a 6cmc creature while not attacking/blocking because what did him in was one of his own red-hot coals slung right through his body (and since Thor DID finish him off mythologically, it makes sense that he be weak to the only color of thor's that he doesn't have protection from, red). So an incinerate in the first main could still wipe him off the face of the earth.
That's more than 15 words, since the Name counts as one word. You're missing a word anyway (...basic land card from your hand into....).
The name counting as one word, if i understand, means that if your card has a three word name and appears in the rules text, the whole name counts as one word. Basically "~" counts as one word no matter what your card's name is. The 15 words applies only to the rules text.
