Zidane TribalRW
Legendary Planeswalker - Zidane (M)
+1: Zidane Tribal becomes an X/X red and white Human Genome creature with first strike and haste where X is Zidane Tribal’s loyalty until end of turn.
0: Gain control of target artifact or enchantment with a mana value less than or equal to Zidane’s loyalty until Zidane Tribal leaves the battlefield.
-5: Zidane Tribal deals 6 damage to any target and you gain 6 life.

Abilities are meant to reflect the attack, steal, and Dyne abilities. Ash Zealot is a borderline cubeable card so I decided this would be an interesting baseline. The continued on curve growth is also a flavorful way to demonstrate leveling. I leaned a bit on Dack Fayden's abilities to help with the steal ability - Zidane has a lot of tradeoffs with Dack's ability. Zidane impacts the board earlier and can hit enchantments, but its targets are limited by loyalty/mana value and the theft is not permanent. I think the "until Zidane leaves the battlefield" clause also helps justify the effect in white. The last effect is an interpretation of Zidane's ultimate trance ability, grand lethal.
Not knowing the person its based on I can't comment on the flavor.
As for the design. Planeswalkers usually have a theme they are built around that comes through in at least two abilities. While sometimes it is hard to pin down their theme, planeswalkers are never just three good abilities in the appropriate colors. Which is what this card is.
On the powerlevel of the card. It fits as a legacy drop however its first ability is simply far too strong for standard, possibly too strong for modern. The ability to absolutely wreak shops decks would give this a home in vintage.

First, more planeswalkers then I have the time to list have three abilities which don't have a thematic tie. Also, you have already stated you don't know the character, so it stands to reason that you may not appreciate the theming that is present based upon that. I think you read that I based the abilities on Zidane's FFIX commands and assumed I stapled them together without thought as to how they interrelate or reflect the overall character. Notice that two of the abilities are tied to Zidane's loyalty value, that is partially a theming choice - since loyalty is a defining trait of the character.
Again, I think your power level evaluations here are inflated. Being the flagship mythic of this custom set, it is absolutely and intentionally pushed, but this isn't a vintage exclusive power level. Sometimes I wish I could view and post real standard MTG designs just before they are actually printed in this forum as a "custom card" so I could read people tell me why those card could never see print and then watch in amusement.
Whoops, thanks! That was a typo from posting this late at night It is indeed a Planeswalker.
If it's a planeswalker it shouldn't have the Human and Genome creature types, unless you are proposing making those planeswalker types. The type should probably be "Legendary Planeswalker - Zidane," unless there is some storyline reason that this card needs to be a Human Planeswalker.
