So I came up with a sorcery (maybe instant) effect but I'm having some doubt about what colors to put it in.
CARDNAME (2 mana)
Exile target non-land permanent. Starting with that permanent’s controller, each player creates a Treasure token. Repeat this process until X Treasure tokens have been created, where X is the exiled permanent’s converted mana cost.
I'm leaning towards Red/White or Blue/White, both because Red/Blue are the main treasure colors (along with Black) and white is the primary "Exile a permanent" color. I could also see Black/White, but that's not a fit for the set I'm working on.
I'd be interested to hear how people think this fits for colors, and if someone has an idea for creative treatment I'd be glad to hear that too.
Definitely white, possibly white-something. Something could be black or red. I would steer clear of blue or green as neither color should be doing the primary effect and a justification of creating treasures is loose on either of them.
As for the cost of being 2, that seems very unlikely unless you only give your opponents the treasures.
Its definitely a two color effect. Mono white wouldn't get the mana ramp in that way, its single card source of treasure is taxing draw on smothering tithe. I'm just kinda on the fence personally if Blue White or Red White is a better fit.
Based on precedent, it could be either red or blue as the second color. I do think red makes more sense as red seems more into the temporary stuff (card "draw" being another big one). In reality, I don't think you can go wrong with either color combo though I personally lean towards red-white.
I agree completely with the above poster. The effect does feel more white red than white blue but it's such a close margin that either would work. Could also make it an instant that bounces it and then that would feel more blue red.
Those are some reasonable examples, but White does get exile with "payback" like Path to Exile or Secure the Scene. Also Red Black wouldn't be able to hit enchantments, even though black is dabbling in that its never efficient or, for corner cases, able to hit the caster's enchantments. Red-White is the right call here.
Sorry, I meant as WB, not BR. Exile with "payback" is for sure a white thing, I had assumed that and was looking at the other color that would go with it. And to me "exile nonland permanent" is just not something that WR gets, its either WB or white only.
