Designing nonbasics is kinDa tough, so here's my whack at a cycle with basic types, from a tribal/ wedge set I'm working on. They seem fine, maybe a bit on the weak side for a wedge set though
Timeless Grove
Land - Plains Swamp Forest
(t: Add W, B, or G.)
Timeless Grove enters the battlefield tapped unless you pay 1.
On one hand, I don't see tri-lands being much better than this, but the strength of Shocks and whatnot is the turn 1-3 flexibility. You cannot fetch this turn 1-2 for a turn 2 play, and by turn three the ability to fetch a multi-type land is becoming less relevant than being able to cast something immediately.
So, these might get printed, but i doubt theyd see heavy play.

Yeah these aren't meant to compete with shocks. Trilands essentially have to enter the battlefield tapped, so the options I saw were to add a small utility, or allow them to enter untapped but in a way that didn't put you ahead that turn.
For the purposes of cycling, yes they are far worse. Lol. But for the purpose of smoothing out your Mana and being able to fetch and play something they are way way better. A good bit of decks would want these as let's say eot I can crack a fetch and get one of these then tap my forest that I didn't actually want but it was my only choice to pay for this to be untapped then I can cast opt. That isn't an option with Ikoria trilands. These are pretty much better than them. Slightly but still better.

I don't think the utility of turning 2 mana into 1 mana one time is as good as the ability to turn 3 mana into a card and fill the graveyard 1 time. I could be wrong, but I've never seen the Painted Bluffs effect as very strong.
Painted bluffs also isn't fetchable eot. Combine that with a good instant that provides real advantage and we got a power creed on our hands. Another point is if you are fetching the land then you clearly aren't cycling it. So that point is kinda non-existent. Last point is you aren't always curving out. Late in the game this allows you to fetch and use an off color source to fix your mana for a spell. Let's say it's mid game. I have gotten mostly islands and I have 1 UW land along with a forest. I need to cast a sweeper. I can either fetch shock for a 3 point life swing to be able to do it, or I can fetch for the basic, or I can fetch for a triome and die... Or I could fetch this, only lose 1 life and be able to fix my mana for the spell and future turns. I hope this makes sense.

It still turns 2 mana into 1 mana though. The situation you're describing is possible, and that's kinda the point of the card, but I think you're overestimating how often that will happen compared to how often cycling a land you top deck late game will happen.
We agree to disagree on this then. That's fine. I won't lie I'm a modern player and I play 1 triome in my 3 color decks. It's usually the first land I fetch as it fixes so good. So I can honestly say I've cycled the card only 1 time. It was in my opener and I didn't need the fix that game due to having 4 other lands.

I kinda think they are a bit worse than the ones in Ikoria. Less utility, still slow.
