Convergent Grove enters the battlefield tapped. T: Add G. 1, Discard a card; Untap Convergent Grove.
It's a land designed with the intent to support cards like Squirrel Nest and the like. I'm wondering how to correctly balance this, because I'd like it to also be balanced with Wild Growth effects as well. The cost might be problematic as a discard outlet, but I think needing a resource other than mana to untap it is necessary?
I think the discard cost is fine, but I'd make it cost 2 to untap instead of one so that you cannot infinitely discard by itself. As written, I'd play this as a 4 of in dredge immediately, but that's not the kind of utility you wanted to create.
The Wild Growth interaction is nifty, but I don't think its significantly stronger than Arbor Elf in Ponza strategies.
It’s wild how, at this point in the game’s lifetime, cheap repeat discard is probably too powerful on a land. But yes 2 feels like the right call here.
Nah, instead of costing 2, have it limited to once per turn at sorcery speed. That way Wild Growths are still effective, and it's not JUST a discard outlet.
