Morphling's Agent
Creature RR
Whenever a non-basic land is tapped for mana Morphling's Agent gets +1/+1 until it's controller's next end step.
Whenever it's controller taps a non-basic land for mana take 1 damage.
2/2
My Idea is this taxes opponents from using complex mana bases. It also puts controls on hurting you for having a complicated mana base and potentially pumping the creature. So it's up to your opponent to pump the creature or not.
'It's controller' is only used on cards to refer to the controller of a non-specific specified creature, namely from targeted spells. 'You' is appropriate here for 'the controller of this creature'.
The timing delay on the first part should be 'until the end of your next turn', see Light Up the Stage.
'Take 1 damage' should be 'Morphling's Agent deals 1 damage to you'. Damage always has a specified source.
'Nonbasic land' doesn't need a dash.
i.e.
"Whenever a nonbasic land is tapped for mana, Morphling's Agent gets +1/+1 until the end of your next turn.
Whenever you tap a nonbasic land for mana, Morphling's Agent deals 1 damage to you."
I'm worried this is going to be used too often in combination with your own nonbasic lands to pump it up. In an aggressive deck you'd be very happy to damage yourself for a buff to race your opponent down, and you don't have to pay any mana for it here. That could be very powerful.
I wonder whether this would be cleaner if it just had the second effect applied to all players, similar to Eidolon of the Great Revel.
Interesting card though.
I think "it's controller" refers to the land's controller in the first ability. What the second ability is supposed to mean, I have no idea though from the text of the card, though I suspect you got its intention right.
Naming the card "Morphling's Agent" creates a specific expectation that it would somehow interact with Morphling or at least be blue. You could call it Torchling's Agent instead for more flavor fit.
You do need to re-template, depending on (a) if you want to to get pumped by its owner tapping lands, (b) ping its owner or opponent or both for tapping lands.
I think the best wording would be:
Whenever a player taps a non-basic land for mana, CARDNAME gets +1/+1 until the end of turn.
Whenever you tap a non-basic land for mana, CARDNAME deals one damage to you.
If you want it to ping whichever player tapped the land, instead go with:
Whenever a player taps a non-basic land for mana, CARDNAME gets +1/+1 until the end of turn and deals 1 damage to that land's controller.
