So I assume you are going for something like aura swap. That makes a lot more sense between zones than it does within a single one. What does "switch" cover here? It's got a lot of implications obviously, but what are its functions?
From Mary O'Kill: (If a creature is tapped, the switched creature is tapped. The same is true for untapped, attacking, blocking, enchanted, equipped, and targeted. Any counters on a creature are on the switched creature instead.)
I think this honestly works fine within the same zone...
Maro discussed Switch in the Unstable mechanics article, and said that he saw future applications for it in black border. Now, switching between zones is a bit much, and even moreso when one of those zones is hidden, that's where I feel Mary O'Kill strays into solid silver territory. Keeping both objects within the same zone I feel smooths it out.

It's more than that. Switch is still a very complicated mechanic without a zone change, and it also get much worse if it appears in a set in force. Having multiple switchable pairs on the battlefield creates a level of board state complexity that rivals Shadowmoor's untap mechanic, exceeding it if any of the switchable pairs overlap. Of course, the mechanic would be an incredibly parasitic AB mechanic if it were done the same way as Mary, so it would need looser restrictions and the switching overlaps that come with it.
Even if this mechanic's presence were kept down to avoid that issue, the function of switch itself is still insanely complex. It would be simple enough if everything were switched, but, well, only certain things move. Damage, auras/equipment, counters, targets of spells and abilities, tapped status, and combat status are all transferred between members of a switched pair, but continuous effects are not. Not to mention, certain spells and abilities will fizzle, some auras might fall off, and it seriously screws up combat math. Also, you'll have creatures that become attacking creatures without actually attacking and creatures that become blocking creatures without actually blocking. The list of reasons why switch will always be a silver-bordered mechanic is quite long, of which the zone change you mention is only a small part.

I don't think this keyword action is meant for black border where the rules are strict and grokkability cannot carry the day.
Amazing flavor, I will say, though.
