A showcase of commons from my weird world set, displaying some of my attempts at worldbuilding
Nightfall Travellers
Creature- Incarnation (C)
When Nightfall Travellers enters the battlefield or dies, create a 1/2 white Incarnation creature token.
3/2 Some may be drawn to their lights in the dark of the woods, but they are not here for the likes of men.
Disdainful Stroke
Instant (C)
Counter target spell with converted mana cost 4 or greater. The Whisper is so called because of the eerie voice that comes with it. Those who pass through are left shaken by what they hear, sometimes broken.
Fear of Imprisonment
Creature- Nightmare Incarnation (C)
: Fear of Imprisonment gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
0/3 Do you think you are free just because you cannot see the chains?
Shapen Journeyer
Creature- Beast (C)
Haste
2/1 The shapen always seem to be going somewhere or other.
Aspect of the Hunt
Creature- Wolf Incarnation (C) The passing of the Great Haze is like the changing of the seasons, bringing with it destruction and chaos, but also new life seeded by its power.
4/3
Nightfall Travelers is very strong for a common. Would be a solid limited pick even with just the ETB trigger.
While I generally like the art you're using in your mockups, I'm not so sure about the one you chose for disdainful stroke. It doesn't really fit in with the magical deflection that the name suggests, unless it's supposed to depict, uh, having a stroke.
Fear of Imprisonment is decent, both as a common and as a card. Perilous Shadow is overcosted, even with the superior ability and extra point of toughness over this. Should be a shade, though.
Shapen Journeyer and Aspect of the Hunt are filler commons with well-chosen art.
Worldbuilding here seems fine overall, except for the red one. I feel like there's a better way to represent (in flavor text) the characteristic being attributed to the Shapen here.

As the flavour text suggests, this represents a more psychic approach to a counterspell. Magic is partly mental in nature, and this world will being playing into that.

The types are playing into this set's themes. You may have noticed there is a lot of incarnations here.

Could you please elaborate on what you don't like or want to see with the flavor text?

Hmmm, maybe it could be a little more elaborate, I guess? I really can't comment on the actual flavor details, but it could stand to be a little more poetic, like the others. It could also be nice to see some flavor text-only characters to bring a first-person perspective to some of the creatures here.
Unrelated to the cards posted here, your setting seems ripe for a children's rhyme of some sort, either on one card like Phyrexian Hulk 7/8/9th edition printings, or cut into pieces and spread over a cycle of cards.
Are both Nightmare and Incarnation tribal important? If Nightmare is not I would advise you to make Fear of Imprisonment a Shade Incarnation.
There will be a little bit of incarnation tribal. My point was more flavour themes, not mechanical themes. Fear of Imprisonment is a nightmare because a number of black incarnations will also be nightmares. I don't think giving a mana buff effect in black needs to be only on shades, and this isn't even +n/+n.

I like the flavor a lot, and I like the way you're creating these cards in general. That said, the flavor text for Disdainful Stroke doesn't really conveys to me what the card is supposed to be about. I mean, the card's name, its effect and its various canon artworks all speak to me of something dynamic, something that happens quickly and undoes the enemy's attempt at putting down something big. On the other hand, the custom art you went with looks very static, and the flavor text is a short description: at leas to me, that feels like it would be more fitting of a Ixalan's Binding kind of card, something that freezes the opponent in time. There really isn't much there that reminds me of a quick stroke that is also disdainful.
Fair enough.
I'll have a think about it, might change it sometime.

Could Fear of Imprisonment get +1/+1? That's significantly blacker than firebreathing.
Altogether, the flavor is coming together.

I kind of made it to be one of the stronger commons, pushing an archetype. Could change it of course, we'll see how we go.
