Yup, I think that's decent proof that putting the ability on an ETB trigger might be even more busted than as a T mana ability. Two, for example, would also be an easy-peasy Cloudstone Curio loop.
The Custom Card Creation Random Card of the Day for Monday January 21 2019 is Harm's Way
I've always enjoyed the surprise factor of damage redirection – especially with something like Deflecting Palm – but Harm's Way just doesn't get it done. If Harm's Way could shield your team against the entirety of Pyroclasm it'd be a different story. HW does help out your walkers if need be.
Gives me an idea for an emblem/enchantment that stores damage for "any target" redirects.
BUSTED in KTK-KTK-KTK Limited. As a design it suffers from Alara Multicolor Syndrome (where is the green in this card?) but that was much less prevalent in Khans than it was in Alara proper, imho, although it afflicted this whole cycle (Abzan Guide is not green, Snowhorn Rider is not blue...).
WotC knows there isn't any G on this creature but what aspect of design pushes them to print this anyway? Is it specifically and exclusively the wedge/shard theme of a set (or block)? Are there other times where they do this? I didn't play during Time Spiral but they did the weird color things there but I'm talking more multicolored aspects.
It's almost always when there's tricolor factions.
The justification for adding extra colors is "this card belongs to [insert faction] in flavor"; it's usually to fill out cycles where some of the cards genuinely might feel tricolor (Ponyback Brigade, for example, is justifiable in any of those mono colors in a Mardu context so therefore it feels okay as tri).
I like the slith mechanic and am disappointed that it's nowadays been relegated mostly to innistrad vampires. Yes, it's a bit win-more, but it encourages moving the game forward through attacking while being less win-more than a straight up "when this attacks" trigger. It rewards smart attacks and evasive abilities and is very simple.
What exactly are the Slith? They get their own creature type, they're born in the red-aligned Great Furnace, but themselves align with the Suns and follow them around Mirrodin. That suggests they're drawn to mana. They're born in the molten metal of the Great Furnace, but are a combination of fleshy and metallic. They're humanoid, but don't have any features of any known race, their faces are very skull-like, irrespective of color alignment.
Were they an early indication of the Phyrexian influence lurking beneath Mirrodin's surface? They're born from a nonliving substance within the plane, much like Newts born from the Glistening Oil. Like Newts, they're nonspecifically humanoid, and like Newts, they're incomplete upon birth. In the case of Newts, they're raised and compleated by other Phyrexians, while the Slith are abandoned, even pushed out by the goblins at the Great Furnace, they seek their "mothers" the suns, and they grow and take form during their travels, represented by the iconic ability.
This also works when trying to explain why they didn't appear in Scars of Mirrodin. With a real Phyrexian presence, the Slith never emerged to wander the surface, instead they were taken and compleated.
Wirewood Symbiote and Temur Sabertooth approved.

Like many other cards in Time Spiral block, this cycle was designed to as a specific reference, particularly to iconic (or future) 1-drop creatures.
What "Mutant" meant in Scourge was usually kind of confusing, but I'm weirdly pleased by the ability to add GGG here.
