This DFC is designed to represent Karn during Invasion and a little bit during Time Spiral and Mirrodin.
Karn of the Legacy5
Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem
Kicker X
When ~ enters the battlefield, if it was kicked, search your library for an artifact card with converted mana cost X or less and put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library. WUBRG: Exile ~, then return it to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control.
4/4
Originally I wanted the first face to represent Karn when he revoked his vow of Pacifism to help GerrarddefeatTsavbo Tavoc. I tried various designs, but I decided to instead capture a more significant role: helping complete the Legacy Weapon that destroys Yawgmoth, and inheriting Urza's planeswalker spark in the process. Since Karn's story heavily revolved around gathering parts for the Legacy, I liked the idea of him being able to tutor an artifact, and I liked the idea of using Kicker as it was a significant mechanic of Invasion. His transformation ability uses all five colors as a nod to Legacy Weapon, and allows him to be a WUBRG commander. I'd considered putting the WUBRG symbols on the second face as a nod to Fist of Suns, but I felt it would be better if the card was upfront about its WUBRG status so commander players wouldn't have to show the second face before the game even began to prove their deck was legally WUBRG.

+1: Put a loyalty counter on ~ for each artifact you control.
-X: Choose a type of counter on an exiled card, another permanent, or a player. Give that card, permanent, or player an additional X counters of that type.
0: You get an emblem with "Nonartifact spells you cast have affinity for artifacts."
5
The first ability rewards you for playing lots of artifacts. The second ability converts Karn's loyalty counters into other kinds of counters, including loyalty for another planeswalker. Since this Karn is mostly a nod to Mirrodin, the ultimate brings back the infamous Affinity for Artifacts, though restricted to nonartifact spells. This allows you to build an artifact-heavy deck that also plays well with nonartifact cards.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
The front is a cool enough concept that makes itself easily understood. The activated ability to ignite the spark is servicable. The back of the card is a weak concept for a reward of getting to the front.
The emblem has many unattractive issues. Foremost the emblem stacks with itself. It doesn't even need to use affinity, but could just spell it out. And it's a horrible choice to make a +0 ultimate nd combine it with the affinity loyalty counter producing +1. You are settling for a less thought-out version of what Saheeli, the Gifted does.
The back could use some more of what the front has. Actually creating artifacts, maybe animating them as a nod to original Karn if you cannot come up with something better. The main weakness of the backside design is that the "reward for playsing lots of artifacts2 is loyalty counters that you continue to convert into more counters. Maybe a suitable nod to Karn being Father of Machines for a time, but very isolated in its use and redundant with the benefit of the emblem rather than synergistic or complementary.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Yeah, I hadn't considered the fact the emblems can stack. I'll try a new iteration. I won't touch the front face for now, but I'll include it with each iteration for convenience and proper assessment.

I like the idea of Karn creating artifact creature tokens. Since he himself is a Golem, perhaps he can create Golem tokens? The second ability is basically an activated Blinkmoth Urn. His second ability from the first iteration has been simplified and made into his ultimate here.

Well, color fixing at that point isn't really necessary since you already have WUBRG to transform him. The Golem tokens are a nod to the fact Golems were among the first inhabitants of Argentum, the plane that later became Mirrodin. Not to mention the Myr were created by Memnarch, if I'm not mistaken.

Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
