Just had these ideas while watching Star Wars, I was wondering if either of them would be viable as actual cards!
Force LightningUBR

Deal 3 damage to target creature or planeswalker. Tap that permanent. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
Deal 3 damage to target player. That player discards a card.

Deal X damage to target player. That player discards X cards and you draw X cards. "Do it."
Once a card is on the battlefield, it's referred to as a permanent, not a card. Other than that, Force Lightning looks good. Instant discard is insanely strong, but you deserve something extra if you pay 3 mana in 3 colors for a Lightning Bolt. It's comparable to Kolaghan's Command.
Unlimited power really needs to have another two Xs or one more with generic mana in its mana cost considering how fast it scales. It's already a 3-for-1 at X=1 against a 1 toughness creature, jumps to a 1:1 card advantage to mana ratio at X=2, and exceeds the mana put in at X=3.
Upped the mana cost of Unlimited Power accordingly and nerfed it slightly. Also added a third spell, mostly just because I remembered that Force Lightning can be used to attack multiple targets at once.
Unlimited Power is one of those cards that sits on a fence between either really goos or really bad, and it all hinges on that X in the mana cost. With just one X, it feels too good, and with two Xs it feels underwhelming. 7 mana for draw two, discard 2, deal 2 damage? Idk guys I think we could make this work out better.
What if I lowered the non-X cost down to 2 or 1? Or alternatively, what if I raised the non-X cost up to 4 and change the variable casting cost from XX back to X?
Lets compare it to explosion RRUUX draw x deal x damage. I think with the discard, it's only reasonable for it to be a double X spell. At 7 Draw 2, discard 2 while it feels underwhelming initially, would depend on the rest of the format that it's in. With Pirates and treasure, it's a very powerful card, but without grixis ramp, it falls a little short, so overall I think the balance is there.
Decided to reduce the non-X casting cost from 3 down to 2, that way it's a little better at the low levels while the double X keeps it from getting too ridiculous at the high levels.
