Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
That's almost Intuition, right? Could you print Intuition with the fixy different-names clause and get away with it (powerwise)? From the perspective of generating interest for the set I think a sneaky we're-almost-being-naughty reserved list reprint would be a great single-card selling point.
Well, Thunder Spirit being reserved didn't stop Sky Spirit. I didn't realize I was skirting so close to a Reserved list card, though. And I almost made it cost 2U too!

That's just the thing - if you change anything materially important to the functionality of the card, you can print something close to a Reserved List card. That includes the typeline (subtypes I think excepted) and any additions and subtractions to the text.

So blue-red gets you Diabolic Tutor for three mana? I don't get why there is an "up to" in there. It seems to entirely defeat the purpose - you'll never want to search for more than one card (excepting rather narrow situations where you actually want to fill your graveyard) because that would give the opponent the option to deny you the card you actually want.
You are aware that Gifts Ungiven can get away with "up to" because it puts the two chosen cards into the graveyard and puts the rest into your hand, so it has a built-in incentive to search up more cards, right?

Along with the points already brought up. The way gifts is currently used making a cheaper version in the colors that already use it doesn't seem like a good idea. Also, the name really makes me think you are gifting from the side board rather than just a smaller gifts. When I clicked a had simply assumed the card would be. Wishes Ungranted2UB

This version seems the best to me.
Part of the appeal of Intuition is that the other two cards end up in your graveyard, so you can still access them (e.g. by picking Dread Return, Unburial Rites, and Seedborn Muse, getting Seedborn in any case and loading your graveyard with flashback reanimation). The shuffling back in removes this advantage and actually makes the card less powerful, while still being an obvious and flavorful reference.

The "up to" is necessary because even without the up to it is legal to pick less than 3. Whenever you search a hidden zone you can fail to find. The up to clears up this fact. Look at the original Gifts, it simply says "Search your library for four cards with different names and reveal them." The modern masters version added up to because people were 'failing' to find cards.

While a good idea, ungiven effects are notoriously difficult for a player to make. At 4 mana, you can be reasonably certain that your opponent can't play anything else (unless they go for cheap stuff?), but at 3 mana... you could easily see this being a 5 mana counterspell... and that's not an option I want for this card.
I'm curious, do you have a playgroup that you play these cards in (this one, and others you've previously made)? I'd love to know how some of them turned out in practice.

Three should be fine, as is shuffling away the lost card, but I think instant and 2 on top is better then then one in hand. Having a 33% chance of seeing the card you want and being a sorcery is too weak IMO.
Think about Gamble, which is 1 mana and a much higher chance to actually get the card you want.
I think you can only fail to find when a card characteristic is specified, not if it's just looking for "a card". Right?
Oh they do have the different names clause nvm.

It draws out of the sideboard, so this is unlikely with a 15 card limit. You are also unlikely to have three different names for the same effect in draft or standard formats, and in modern or legacy the card is to slow at three mana.
The only place you want to play this card and can actually guarantee the effect is in commander if they don't enforce a wishboard.
In draft or standard the 1 card drop two is too weak, and in legacy and modern it is too slow and clunky.
Well, firstly, I was talking about the design as stated by Manite, not the "from outside of the game" version.
But either way, that's fair. I admit I was thinking about it largely in the context of commander. Still, it's not a 33% chance; your opponent isn't an RNG. I would actually guess that it's quite a bit worse than that against someone who can pick well.
Oops, I forgot that was another user who wanted that.
Outside of commander it should be 2 mana for 1 card as a sorc, or three mana and an instant, or 3 mana as a sorc and give you two cards if picking from your deck.
In Commander it is stronger but competes with better tutors, so IDK.
Right, I was just pointing put that Gamble is a 1 mana tutor that sees little play and has a better probability of getting what you want. 3 mana is way too expensive for a maximum 33% chance of getting the card you want at sorcery speed, it is basically a three mana cantrip (excepting Commander again.)
