I came for Barrel Down Sokenzan and was disappointed.
Might be too close to renown but I kind of like triggering on combat or tapping. I see how combat would limit the utility guys a bit and tapping wouldn't work with vigilance I guess, but it feels weird that they can just stand around watching for a while until they are like "yep I'm psyched up time to get to work".

You could use "(This creature enters the battlefield with 4 ascension counters on it. Whenever it attacks or becomes tapped, remove an ascension counter from it. When you remove the last token this way, this creature becomes a 4/4.)"
Kinda similar to the "Whenever you cycle or discard a card" verbiage, and works fine with vigilance.
Would you want it so its "as long as it doesn't have ascension counters on it its a 4/4"? to not tie the removing with becoming a 4/4 allowing random synergy with counter removal.
I also was disappointed with the thread title, the same as the last one you made.
