Taken Hostage 2WB
Enchantment Aura (R)
Enchant creature or planeswalker
Enchanted permanent can’t attack or block, and it’s activated abilities can’t be activated.
Enchanted permanent has “If a creature controlled by this permanent’s controller attacks CARDNAMES owner, sacrifice this permanent.”
How wrong is the wording on this? It feels awkward to me. The flavour is, obviously, preventing a player from attacking you by threatening to kill a creature or planeswalker of theirs.
I might make it exile the enchanted permanent or something.

The death of the player controlling Taken Hostage would be... whatever.
If you'll help me with the wording of the section I want help with I promise I'll edit the card.

“Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are.” Esmeralda Santiago Art is life itself.
Thinking about it, maybe the creature should keep the ability to block if it's under Taken Hostage's controller's control. That way you can throw the hostage under another player's attacker in a multiplayer game.

I really appreciate what you're going for here, but I think that when trying to create a narrative via cards you have to extend your consideration to the card in gameplay, not just the card as-read. The beauty of the hostage situation is the conundrum "Do I let the terrorists win, or do I risk the hostage's life?" When you take a creature hostage via this card, there is no incentive for the owner to modify their behaviour. The vast majority of the time, a pacified card is worthless to them and will quickly be sacrificed.
maybe add a ransom. paying life or saccing something to free the hostage.
this would circumvent the "it's basicly dead anyway."
Now we're close to creating a Soul Ransom reprint.
I like the flavor of the hostage idea, the trick is making it simple and elegant and not too wordy. With Soul Ransom and with the original Taken Hostage card, I have to read it twice and then think about it before I understand how it works. Personally, I hate having to do this when playing: I'd rather understand the card after one read-through.

This is the section I'm worried about, honestly.
