Flourish (Whenever you pay an amount of mana greater than this creature’s power, you may put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.)
Creatures with flourish could get pretty big. For instance:
Effervescent Dryad2G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Flourish 3G: Target creature blocks Effervescent Dryad this turn if able.
2/1
Purestride (This creature can’t be blocked by creatures with generic mana symbols in their mana costs.)
This one's pretty simple. I envision it working well with hybrid mana. Just a thought:
Dream Courser(U/B)(U/B)(U/B)
Creature - Illusion Scout (U)
Purestride
Whenever Dream Courser deals combat damage to a player, you draw a card unless that player discards two cards.
3/3
Vessel X (Up to X mana of your choice doesn’t empty from your mana pool as steps and phases end.)
This would obviously stack among different permanents with the ability, and it would most commonly appear at one. Two examples for this one, one simple and one for a rare slot:
Darkflow Demon2BB
Creature - Demon
Flying
Vessel 3
At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose life equal to the amount of mana in your mana pool.
4/4
And finally, one not-for-permanents that's a little less original and much more complicated:
Refocus <COST> (Exile this spell as it resolves with a focus counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, you may cast a copy of it from exile by paying <COST> for each focus counter on it in addition to its other costs. If you do, put another focus counter on it. Otherwise, put it into your graveyard.)
Basically, it lets you keep casting a spell if you're willing to keep paying more, but if you break the chain, you lose the opportunity. This one I've been struggling to balance, but here's a thought:
Burning Brawl1R
Sorcery (U)
Burning Brawl deals 1 damage to target creature you don't control. Then target creature you control fights that creature.
Refocus 1G
Interesting abilities.
In particular, Refocus feels like a smaller Epic, which is pretty cool.
I have questions:
1) what is a generic mana symbol? WUBRG? X? The hybrids?
2) why is your second example of a Vessel card a punisher? I think I need more examples of positive effects before I get hype.

107.4b Numeral symbols (such as 1) and variable symbols (such as X) represent generic mana in costs. Generic mana in costs can be paid with any type of mana.

Correct. This is what I intended to refer to. Colorless mana costs.
