EDIT: At the request of several subscribers, the name has changed. SCCT = Single Card Critique Thread. OCaaT = One Card at a Time.
As a regular contributor to the Single Card Critique Thread on an old site, I thought it would be nice to get something like that going over here. Some mild courtesies, if you please:
1) Rule #1 of the 'One Card At A Time' thread is "There is no 'One Card At A Time' thread." Or there is. Actually, rule one is that you read the card in the last post, critique it in more than three words, then post your own card.
2) Try to keep your new card posts to no more than one or two per day; if you want to do some extra critiquing, feel free.
3) Constructive criticism is more *gasp* constructive than, er, well....non-constructive criticism. If you think a card sucks, that's fine, but try to point out the specific problems and/or give alternative options to FIX the card, not just bash it.
I didn't see one of these yet; if this is a duplicate thread, please let me know, then let this sink into oblivion. Otherwise, here's one to get us going!
The Keystone 7
Artifact
When ~ leaves play, remove all cards in play, in all graveyards, and in all hands from the game.
(Been reading The Da Vinci Code, a killer book by a killer author...)
Well, other than the obvious combos with the cheap artifact mana/Goblin Welder floating around, this card seems good - I can't think of many ways to abuse it, and it has a cool effect for a high price (plus the awesome combo of float a bunch of White mana, cast Keystone, kill it with something, then cast THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE) THIS COMBO IS UBER-TECH.
On a more serious note, my card is:
Pawn RU
As an additional cost to play Pawn, sacrifice a permanent you control.
Add X to your mana pool, where X is the converted mana cost of the sacrificed permanent plus one.
Draw a card.

Mogg Rager is better than Vulshok Berserker since Mogg Rager costs 3. It seems like a small difference, but it's huge. T2 Sligh would like it if there was a better 3 drop than Ronin Houndmaster.
Instill Rage- nice with lots inexpensive creatures. Can't say I'd play it, due to its symetry, but a well-designed card anyway.
Uncharged Jewel 1

wth instilled rage ive heard of BOK coming out with an enchantment ( i think) that does basically the same think. Check the set speculation thread. Its in there. No offense but it think uncharged jewel has been done before. I cant think of any names today but ive seen a card like it before. My card is...
Forgotten grounds
Land
Tap, remove three cards in your graveyard from the game: Add to your mana pool. If there are no cards in your graveyard sacrifice forgotten grounds.
Forgotten Grounds: Cool. A very nice land. I think you could realistically add on the "T: Add 1 to your mana pool." without it being broken.
Uncharged Jewel: I believe that current wording would be: "T: Add 1 mana to your mana pool for each Charge counter on ~." Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with it. Could it cost two and come into play with a charge counter on it? That would be nice.
Priory Guildmage UU
Creature - Human Wizard
1U: Look at target opponent's hand.
UU, T: Name a card. Target opponent reveals a card at random in his or her hand to all players. If the named card is revealed, draw two cards.
1/3 No secret can be kept forever.
Forgotten Grounds - Agreed with Cantripmancer. It's a lovely card.
Priory Guildmage - Can't really see anything wrong about it either, 1UUU would be about the price I'd pay for a recurring Inspiration.... come to think of it, the second ability could cost 1U.
Card that I posted on MTGNews but didn't get commented:
Deformed Weakling

~ can't be sacrificed
When ~ is put into your graveyard from play, put it into play under your control.
however, this is obscenly powerful. Since you can't sacrifice it, it doesn't succumb to death cloud, and since it comes right back after it dies, it doesn't succumb to wrath of god or other board sweepers. Solution: up the cost, and make it more intensive, and maybe even give it a drawback such as: when this comes into play, you lose 4 life (Or something like that)
Overwhelming Onslaught :2mana::symr:

Creatures you control must attack each turn if able.
Attacking creatures you control get +1/+0 for each other attacking creature.

Steel Phalanx has nice tension but is just filler.
Raging Inferno - :1mana::symr::symr:
Enchantment
Cumulative Upkeep
Remove an age counter from Raging Inferno: Raging Inferno deals damage equal to the number of age counters on it to target creature or player.
See, *that* is a quality card right there. Probably not constructed-worthy, but I would die to play with that in a casual game. Well-costed, nice use of counters, interesting math, and above all a fun card.
Rusted Relic 4
Artifact Creature - Golem
When Rusted Relic comes into play, any player may pay 3. If a player does, Rusted Relic comes into play with 3 -1/-1 counters on it.
4/6
Raging Inferno - I don't really like it. You're paying 3 mana for 1 damage, 6 mana for 2 damage and so on. It would be better if the ability cost is a fixed mana cost though.
Rusted Relic - Sweet. How about wording it the other way round so that it uses +1/+1 counters instead of -1/1- counters?
"When ~ comes into play, any player may pay 3. If no player does, ~ comes into play with three +1/+1 counters on it."
Nakisame, Kami's Bane
3
Legendary Artifact - Equipment
Whenever an opponent plays a Spirit of Arcane spell, put a ki counter on ~.
Equipped creature gains protection from Spirit and Arcane and gets +1/+1 for each ki counter on ~.
Equip 2
I always do enjoy cards that trigger off of whatever your opponent is doing. However, it is quite expensive for a hoser that does nothing on it's own. I'd suggest allowing a +2/+0 p/t boost or a cost drop. like the idea though.
Truth elemental :symw::symw::symu:
creature-elemental
Players play with their hands revealed.
:symw::symw:, :symtap:: destroy target enchantment
If a spell or ability would cause a creature's power or toughness to change, that creature's power and toughness does not change instead. (Counters on a creature still have an effect)

Magic Missiles: Nice. Sweet and simple. R gets you 1 damage, 2R gets you 2...5 gets you 3...7 gets you 4. Feels balanced. Wording may need to be: "~ deals X+1 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures and/or players."
Phyrexian Bombast - I love it... I absolutely love it... Unfortunately, it really SUCKS in limited... It's perfect as it is... Perhaps the only thing I could comment on is the name "Bombast"
Musketman - WW
Creature - Human Soldier
Whenever ~ attacks or blocks, you make have ~ deal 1 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.
1/1
(I'm not sure if I got the timing right on this card, in terms of attacking)
Musketman - WW
Creature - Human Soldier
Whenever ~ attacks or blocks, you make have ~ deal 1 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.
1/1
Nice, I like how he can deal damage to the other blockers, that way more damage can get through. And WW seems fair for the ability it gets.
Consuming Hatred 1BB
Enchant Creature
When Consuming Hatred comes into play, name a creature an opponent controls.
As long as that creature is in play, enchanted creature gains +3/+3 and First Strike.
Consuming Hatred: Seems a bit overcosted, esp. since your opponent can just suicide that creature next time you decide to attack. I would actually see this as a green/white card:
Parasitic Growth 1G
Enchant Creature
When ~ comes into play, choose target creature controlled by an opponent.
As long as the chosen creature is in play, enchanted creature gets +3/+3 and has trample.
My card:
Scenic Tome 3
Artifact
3, T: Target opponent looks at your hand and chooses a card. You may discard that card to search your library for up to two basic land cards and put them in your hand. If you ever discard a land card in this way, sacrifice ~.
Scenic Tome : Slightly weak, since you've got to activate it twice before you have achieved card advantage. And you have to wait two turns at least to do the second activation, if you don't draw a third land in that time.
Akamori, Creeper in Darkness 3BBB
Legendary Creature - Insect Demon
Whenever you play a spirit or arcane spell, remove Akamori, Creeper in Darkness from the game, and put 6 1/1 black Insect Demon tokens into play with Fear and Haste. At end of turn, if any Insect Demon tokens are in play, remove them from the game and return Akamori, Creeper in Darkness to play.
6/6
Ok, so as not to let this thread die (O.o Didn't know that would be a problem), next:
Akamori: Pretty heavy powerhouse. With Fallen Angel/Nantuko Husk-esque creature in play + Akamori, we can play two innocuous spells, one in response to the other, say Glacial Ray (to take out a blocker), and Blessed Breath (to get your Fallen Angel through) and create 12 1/1 insect demons.... Sacrifice 11 of them to the Angel...it's now a 25/something or other with prot from 1-2 colors. Even if that doesn't kill the opponent, you still have an insect in play...so Akamori comes back at end of turn. I think it'd be better if it was worded slightly differently
Akamori, Creeping Darkness 3BBB
Legendary Creature - Insect Demon
Fear
Whenever you play a spirit or arcane spell, you may remove ~ from the game. If you do, put 6 1/1 black Insect Demon creature tokens with fear into play.
6/5
That puts it more in flavor of black and prevents insanity. I love the idea, though. Nice work.
Lionmane Faerie GW
Creature - Faerie Druid
Flying
When ~ comes into play, return target green or white creature from your graveyard to your hand.
1/1
Lionmane faerie- nice and simple, just the way I like 'em (I <3 good filler)
