I devolped the entire Ravnica block. Then wizards mugged me :[
When, exactly? you have 58 posts, so I'm assuming you are new here, and ravnica was released ages ago. So tell me, from where exactly did they mug you? not from this site, that's for sure. Set this aside, you realy thought of hybrid mana before it came out? I doubt it.
I wouldn't say I came up with cards before wizards but when certain mechanics come out I like to guess what they might have done. Like when the timeshifted cards in Planar chaos were suggested I thought there'd be a green seal of cleansing or seal of doom (both of which I posted in the custom card games as a part of the alphabetical card game and the like.)
Also when I heard of convoke I figured they'd have a 5/5 Trample Wurm but I costed it at 6 instead of 7.
There are others. This would be a good thread to keep open later when the next set comes out and more of the cards we think should be made get made.
Oh yeah, a long time ago in one of those custom card game threads I made a split card that was the same color on both sides. If that counts O-o.
HAH! AND I came up with Groundbreaker just a couple weeks ago. (Different name of course)
I started designing a time based set a few years ago, though I switched the focus a while before TS came about.
One of the new races/Organizations (they changed back and forth between a race/creature type and just an organization of creatures from other races) from that set was called the Dimar, though, which came from the gaelic word for secret, which I then had to switch once House Dimir showed up. (Gaelic word for secret was probably where WotC got the name for the Dimir clan, too, though I forget what the original word was.) I don't think I ever posted any of it on these boards though. If I did, it was using an older account.
No actual cards or mechanics, though. Yet.
Note: Cool! my 100th post. And it only took . . . a year and a half! At this rate I'll get a custom tag by . . . 2016!!!!
I designed a cycle of allied-colored dual lands that had "when ~ comes into play, lose three life" that all my friends who saw them thought that it was pretty fair. Little did I know that the shocklands would outclass them in so many ways.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I also designed the "sliver" mechanic waaay back in the Fallen Empires days. Only the creatures were all "formation soldiers" and all white.
I had a radically different concept in mind, but I did design a graft mechanic long before Dissension came out. I think it was for some kind of contest to design the remaining guilds rather than wait for the sets.
About any "subpar" mechanics or cards: Context is king.
If I make a templating or grammar error, let me know.
The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
Wow, I don't believe I didn't think of metioning this before but I came up with the idea for enemy coloured Dragon guys like will be in Planar Chaos and the idea of a combination type one like Scion of the Ur-Dragon.

before ripple and convoke i made a mechanic called convoke that allowed a creature to summon a copy from your deck once you removed a convoke counter off of it

You: She chipped a NAIL?

Shenanigans!! I hate goblins, but lurve Shenanigans.
Off the top of my head, I made cards with nonbasic landwalk long before Dryad Sophisticate (in fact, they were among the first cards I ever created. They were red then), a white creature with protection from multicolored about a year and a half before Enemy of the Guildpact, and I designed a cycle of wedge dragons almost immediately after Apocalypse introduced wedge (they've evolved into the Legendary Avatars which are currently in my Taint set). Oh, and I created black vampiric slugs called Vorrics, but then Mirrodin came with its Vorracs. Now they slugs are called Veotrocs.
Thou shalt not have others of the same Legendary before me Thou shalt not frame images with the modern card face Thou shalt not change rules in vain Remember the Reserved List to keep it holy Honor thy Slivers and the symmetry of their abilities Thou shalt not kill mana burn Thou shalt not sacrifice depth for accessibility Thou shalt not steal combat damage from the stack Thou shalt tell a story through thy cards All must be one
After a bit of a search:
I made a card that was effectively from cradle to grave - (called Aetherburn - R for 3 damage to a creature that came into play this turn). I had a spell called Haunting Hymn (which had nothing to do with the TS spell).
Necromantic Vortex was a symmetrical Debtor's Knell for 2BBB.
Like so many others I made a Remand for U without the cantrip part. JimTheMighty prompty suggested a 1U cantrip :P.
I Made a 0.5/0.5 creature long before unhinged (Eric the Half-A-Bee!), and Forbidden Orchard (Juniper Bushes) in the same thread.
I proposed some X-suspend X cards, but game them a drawback upon resolution.
I made a card equivalent to psychic possession in effect (but worded very differently).
I made suspend (but called it Sleep and made it non-optional) - i.e. Sleep 2 (When you play this spell, remove it from the game with 2 sleep counters. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a sleep counter from it. When it has no sleep counters on it, put it on the stack)
I made a card with the same rules text as Chord of Calling without convoke (as an XG sorcery).
Others include non-cantrip Reroute for 1U, Magemarks (effectively, but negative), Spiritual Visit (exactly the same, but green), Confound (but only 2 cards, for BB), Spell Snare (but also worked on 0 and 1 drops), Deathmark (but an Instant).
I made "Dash", now known as Sudden Shock, exactly the same (except worded a bit different), but it was meant as an exception, not a mechanic like Split Second is now. I was afraid multiple cards like that wouldn't play well.
I adopted the philosophy of "lots of tier 2 cards is much healthier than some tier 1 cards" years before them.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
The card name Rough and Tumble (in the Alphabetic Card Game I think). Course that was speculation + Card game fun. Didn't get the mechanic the same though.
Reading the Planar Chaos partial spoiler reveals another one that I had a card very close to. PC has Kavu Predator, uncommon, 1G, 2/2 trample, whenever an opponent gains life put that many +1/+1 counters on Kavu Predator.
My card cost 2R, was also uncommon, called Revenge Broker, and didn't have trample.
"Hello! I've come to serenade you. I can't play guitar. I can't play this accordion either, but I thought it'd be less obvious."

I had a white Desert Twister called Holy Blast before timeshifting became all the rage. Then WOTC printed Saltblast which is DT timeshifted minus and with the nonwhite qualifier.
Not sure exactly if this fits, but when the PC orb of insight went up and we saw the enemy color mana costs RW,BG,2GU,1UR,and1WB, I guessed that there was going to be a Goblin Legionnaire Sliver, Dark Heart of the Wood Sliver, Jungle Barrier Sliver, Frenetic Efreet Sliver, and ... Circle of Despair Sliver. Well, four out of five ain't bad. Imho Circle of Despair would be a lot better (i.e.: less annoying) than the Vindicate Sliver that has been confirmed.
They took my Tolarian Academy, except that mine made colorless mana. (Damn them... it was overpowered with just colorless mana...) I came up with it when I was first starting (Antiquites, I miss you...)
I was looking through older cards people had made as I do (page 60 or so) and look what I found.
Voltaic Arc :2mana::symr::symr: (changed Celerity wording...again; changed name...again)
Instant (U)
Celerity (Players can't play spells or activated abilities while this spell is on the stack.)
~ deals 2 damage divided as you choose between up to two creatures or players.
I'm afraid it's horribly broken, though. Criticism would be nice, as well as suggestions for other keywords. Here's one I just thought up - Wake, which will appear on sorceries/instants as well as some activated/triggered abilities. All colors will have access to it in some form.
Hello, split second.
Also, I found Uborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth called Phyrexia, though it only gave lands the ability to tap for black mana.
Comparing that card to Fire // Ice and doing a little bit of math, with Split Second that card would have been fair at 2R, making it on the level with Sudden Shock.

Getting the last word does not mean that you win the argument.
Those are the ones I can remember without digging through gatherer (I don't save my stuff). Oh, and my name. Although, the "Raving" possibly does not apply to me.
During their respective rumor seasons, I predicted Arcbound Worker and Prodigal Pyromancer (although everyone and their mechanic could have called red Tim!).
I got everything right except for Arcbound Worker's name - I called it "Bothan."
Many Bothans died to give you this information - and hey, look! +1/+1 counters! Sweet!

About 150 cards in all have used my exact text, or maybe +1/+1 and +:1mana: or something like that.
I made Extirpate a few years ago, which was Mortify except Sorcery. I was told that it was too powerful and to make it cost 2WB.
(Extirpate gets 1 hit in the Planar Chaos Orb)
