Hi guys, I'm a bit new at this, so I'm going to need your advice with these bunch of Sliver cards I created.
If there's anything I can improve on the art, flavor text, power level, wording, grammar, etc, please do tell. Also, if you can think of a better name for the cards, flavor text, or even better abilities that match the art, feel free to suggest.
My goal for these cards are:
1. To make mono-color sliver decks more feasible by filling in holes that are important in most creature decks.
2. Make the cards as realistic as possible, so the art, ability, and flavor text must match. They must also be in a cycle.
3. Make the cards useful in normal and/or EDH decks.
*edit*
Below is the most recent version of the cards with some explanations. I also updated the renders. The changes in the cards can be found in the notes section.
Guardian Sliver 2W
Creature — Sliver (U)
Each Sliver can block an additional creature. Even though they are fearsome when hunting, slivers are at their strongest when protecting their hive.
2/2
Card Notes: - High Ground with a body.
Lunar Sliver 2W
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Sliver creatures have vigilance. “It only comes out of the hive when the moon rises, and looks out for danger while the others sleep.”
—Rukarumel, field journal
2/2
Card Notes: - Vigilance is an iconically white ability so I believe this card is a must.
- 3 CMC and an uncommon becaue I think this would be too powerful for a common.
Sinew Sliver 1W
Creature — Sliver (C)
All Sliver creatures get +1/+1. As the muscle cords of the creature twitched, Hanna saw an unsettling unanimity in the others’ rippling flesh. She didn’t know what it meant, but she urged Sisay to keep the ship at a safe distance.
1/1
Card Notes: - Wanted to complete the cycle of planeshifted silvers, but not enough art.
Metamorphic Sliver 1U
Creature — Sliver Shapeshifter (U)
You may have Metamorphic Sliver enter the battlefield as a copy of any Sliver creature on the battlefield. If it’s not one sliver, it’s another.
0/0
Card Notes: - Jwari Shapeshifter variant. Uncommon because it’s not as powerful in Sliver decks since a lot of abilities are redundant.
Phantasmal Sliver 1U
Creature — Sliver Illusion (U)
When a Sliver becomes the target of a spell or ability, its controller sacrifices it.
All Sliver creatures get +1/+1. They wander in the Æther, seeking their lost queen.
1/1
Card Notes: - Phantasmal Bear on a Sliver.
- Uncommon because global pump isn’t a common blue mechanic.
- Can make mono-blue sliver beatdown possible.
- Originally Æther Sliver, which allows slivers to be sacrificed to be able to bounce permanents.
- Used to cost 2U, but was too expensive for the drawback
Swift Sliver 1U
Creature — Sliver (C)
Flash
Any player may play Sliver cards as though they had flash. They are as swift underwater as they are as quick on land.
1/1
Card Notes: - Planeshifted Quick Sliver. Initially planned to complete the Sinew Sliver cycle, but ran out of art.
Bone Sliver 1B
Creature — Sliver (C)
Slivers enter the battlefield tapped.
All Sliver creatures get +1/+1. The slivers’ bones grew harder and heavier as more of the new breed joined their ranks.
1/1
Card Notes: - Diregraf Ghoul on a Sliver.
- Can make mono-black sliver beatdown possible.
- Originally had no drawback, but was too powerful for black.
Dread Sliver 2B
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Slivers have “3, Sacrifice this permanent: Return another target Sliver card from your graveyard to your hand.” They have faced extinction, but have risen again, harder and stronger.
2/2
Card Notes: - I was a little biased creating this. Wanted tutorable recursion for EDH.
- Ability originally costed 2, but Malevolent Awakening had a cost of 3
Phantom Sliver 3B
Creature — Sliver Spirit (U)
All Sliver creatures have intimidate. In Rath, the denizens dwelling deep beneath the stronghold are as feared as the evincar sitting on top of it.
2/2
Card Notes: - Intimidate is an iconically black ability so I believe this card is a must.
- Originally costed 2B
Blood Sliver 2R
Creature — Sliver (U)
Bloodthirst 1
Whenever a player casts a Sliver creature spell, it gains bloodthirst 1. All it takes is a drop of fresh blood to stir the hive.
2/2
Card Notes: - Simple mechanic that suits the art and color.
Cannibal Sliver R
Creature — Sliver (C)
All Slivers have “Sacrifice this permanent: Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.” Even within their hive, slivers devour the weak.
1/1
Card Notes: - Goblin Sledder on a Sliver.
- Red lacks a 1 CMC Sliver.
Sliver Swarm 1R
Creature — Sliver (U)
Sliver Swarm’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of Slivers on the battlefield. The grounds of the Riptide Project are now populated only by slivers, broken beakers, and the lonely screeching of gulls.
*/*
Card Notes: - I really wanted a Krovikan Mist variant, and the art is a perfect match.
- Helps mono-red sliver beatdown.
Entangling Sliver 2G
Creature — Sliver (U)
Whenever a Sliver deals combat damage to a creature, tap that creature and it doesn’t untap during its controller’s next untap step. You can hide, but you can’t run.
2/2
Card Notes: - Kashi-tribe on a Sliver.
- 3 CMC and an uncommon becaue I think this would be too powerful for a common.
Germinating Sliver 2G
Creature — Sliver Fungus (U)
Sliver spells cost 1 less to cast.
Activated abilities of Slivers cost 1 less to activate. This effect can’t reduce the amount of mana an ability costs to activate to less than one mana.
2/2
Card Notes: - Originally a "Sliver Warchief"
- Costs 2G like Krosan Warchief.
- No flavor text space, but the symbiosis of the sliver with the fungi makes it require less food, making it cheaper resource-wise to summon/control/whatever.
- I was a little biased creating this. Wanted a tutorable heartstone for EDH.
Stem Sliver 1G
Creature — Sliver (C)
All Slivers have “2: Regenerate this permanent.” “Given enough time, this species can regrow any part of its body, even the head.”
—Rukarumel, field journal
1/1
Card Notes: - Planeshifted Clot Sliver. Initially planned to complete the Sinew Sliver cycle, but ran out of art.
Sanguine Sliver WB
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Slivers have “2, Sacrifice this permanent: Target opponent loses 2 life. You gain 2 life.” They don’t just kill because they are hungry. They kill because it makes them stronger.
2/2
Card Notes: - Cabal Archon on a Sliver.
Frostbite Sliver 1UR
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Slivers have “T: This permanent deals 1 damage to target creature or player.” “They can survive and adapt to the harshest environments. Even the ice age wouldn’t have been able to stop them.”
—Freyalise
2/2
Card Notes: - Can’t really think of a good UR ability to go with the art so I chose pinging.
- Goes with the tap subtheme of blue slivers in Time Spiral block.
- Originally costed UR but was too good
Marsh Sliver BG
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Sliver creatures have islandwalk, swampwalk, and forestwalk. When a swarm of slivers is coming after you, nothing can slow it down.
2/2
Card Notes: - Landwalk is a common creature ability, and I wanted a sliver that gives landwalk.
- Wanted to make this "ETB, choose a land type. All sliver have landwalk of the chosen type." but the art doesn’t match.
- Chose islandwalk, swampwalk, and forestwalk because they are the most common landwalk abilities, and fits the art and colors.
Flowstone Sliver RW
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Sliver creatures have “1: This creature gets +1/-1 or -1/+1 until end of turn.” The flowstone seeped into the hive and into the veins of the slivers.
2/2
Card Notes: - Flowstone on a Sliver.
- Added the anti-flowstone ability because of the colors.
Diamond Sliver 1GU
Creature — Sliver (U)
All Slivers have hexproof. Only the hardest of minerals can serve as protection for the hardiest of creatures.
2/2
Card Notes: - Since the art is too similar to Crystalline Sliver, the ability should also be similar to be consistent.
- Originally costed UG but was too good, and strcitly better than crystalline.
Sliver Prime WUBRG
Legendary Creature — Sliver Avatar (M)
Slivers are indestructible. “We are kinfolk,” explained the first sliver to the planeswalker. “Just as gathering the pieces of the Legacy was your purpose, reuniting with my children is my destiny.”
7/7
Card Notes: - Indestructibility is a simple but elegant ability, which I think would be perfect for a Sliver legendary.
- I don’t think that this is overpowered. Alone, it’s just half a Progenitus. And by the time it hits the table, the opponent should already have an answer to it, has already controlled the number of slivers in play, has already setup most pieces for a combo, or has played/going to play a card just as threatening.
Sliver Queen, Planeswalker WUBRG
Planeswalker — Queen (M)
Starting Loyalty: 7
+3: Search your library for a Sliver card, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.
-2: Put three 1/1 colorless Sliver creature tokens onto the battlefield.
-12: Until end of turn, Sliver creatures get +5/+5 and gain first strike, lifelink, and trample.
Sliver Replicator 4
Artifact (R)
X, T: Reveal a Sliver creature card with converted mana cost X or less from your hand. Put a token that’s a copy of the revealed card onto the battlefield.
Card Notes: - Originally copied slivers in play, but having card in hand serving as a "template" for the copy is much more flavorful.
Sliversphere 2
Artifact (C)
T: Exile target Sliver you own.
T: Return a card exiled with Sliversphere to the battlefield under your control. “To catch them is my real test. To train them is my cause.”
—Rukarumel, field journal
Card Notes: - Props to whoever gets the reference.
Sliver Hive
Land (R)
T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
2, T: Put a 1/1 colorless Sliver creature token onto the battlefield. Activate this ability only if you control a Sliver. Underneath the stronghold lie many ruins long abandoned by former evincars.
Card Notes: - Moorland Haunt variant
- Limitation is also there so it can’t be an auto-include in token decks.
I don't know if you know but I'll say it just in case : Half of your second set of slivers have already been printed. Bone, Stem, Swift (and Lunar the third set) already exist as sliver abilities (It's Quick, Muscle/Sinew, Clot and....I don't remember the Time Spiral one who gives vigilance). I don't know if you were shooting for new abilities or just a coherent bundle.
Overall I like them. Flowstone is great, but Prime is ten kinds of broken. 7/7 indestructible for 5 ? Unless Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshare and Oblivion Ring get reprinted in the same set, this is wayyy to good. How about a simple Spearbreaker behemot type ability ? ''All slivers have3 : This creature is indestructible this turn''. Diamond Sliver might be a mistake, considering how good Crystaline Sliver already is. I do love metamorphic Sliver on the other hand. I'm kinda sad that ''Each sliver any player cast may enter the battlefield as a copy of any sliver in play'' would probably be too broken because it would be awesome.
The black muscle sliver is a bit cheap. Black doesn't normally get really efficient small creatures. The hexproof sliver is really strong. You'd need to at least tack another mana to it. Might be more balanced by making it 2CD and increasing it's power and toughness by one.
I really like your land. However, I almost seems too good. Playtesting would tell you for sure though.
Sliver Swarm doesn't feel like a Sliver to me. It is not a bad card but doesn't affect other slivers. Sliver Warchief is similar. The mechanics are actually really good & well costed, but Slivers don't really have chiefs aside from whatever is acting as the Queen. Maybe if the flavor of the card indicated the hive is developing sub-drones or such similar to how the Sliver Legion was being developed it would fit.
Edit: For those asking where the art came from, I recognize some of it from non-sliver cards (and a few from sliver cards as well). Good choices for art.
The Hexproof Sliver and the Pinger Sliver are quite overpowered and would need to cost more mana to see print. They could also be Rare, if you were considering designing a set with that many slivers (which is not unfeasible, but unlikely). Many of the others are good or color-shifted older Slivers, which is fine. Some more variety on the P/T and costs of the slivers would be good (3/3 Slivers for 4 or 5 were done in Legions, and made for excellent Rare Slivers).
Entangling Sliver - maybe "damage to a non-Sliver creature"?
AEther Sliver - This potentially leads to really annoying combos. Should at the very least be "nonland permanent". Might be more appropriate either returning just creatures like Barrin, Master Wizard or being costed closer to Dispersing Orb. I'm not sure why it is an Illusion too.
Phantom Sliver - If Severed Legion is an example, then maybe this should probably be more than 2B. It might be okay at four mana.
Sliver Prime - Overpowered yet slightly boring design. The flavor text refers to Sliver Queen, not whoever this is.
Cannibal Sliver - Could probably just be "target creature" like Goblin Sledder
Swift Sliver - Do Sliver decks want another Quick Sliver? I think it fits better in green anyway.
Marsh Sliver - This is really clunky and only leads to noninteraction.
Sanguine Sliver - Interesting, but would need to be tested. There is the similarly costed Cabal Archon, so it might be okay. You have the wrong colored P/T box on your render.
Diamond Sliver - Eesh! Because decks with Crystalline Sliver are not good enough?
Blood Sliver - Doesn't work with Sliver tokens or Hivestone, but still interesting.
Lunar Sliver - Smaller easier to play Synchronous Sliver, but that might not actually be a good thing given the glut of other two and three mana Slivers here.
Flowstone Sliver - Its okay, but just go with the Pemmin's Aura template "This creature gets +1/-1 or -1/+1 until end of turn."
Sliver Hive - Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree for Sliver decks. It would not be unreasonable for the activation cost to be 4 in addition to the "control a Sliver" restriction.
Sliver Swarm - Seems more green and lacks a typical Sliver ability.
Hi guys, thanks for all your comments! I updated my first post to include the updated cards, (based on general comments) as well as individual card notes.
To those asking about the art, all I can say is that my google-fu is powerful. Also, the name of the artists are on the renders, so you can look them up.
They all are pretty good. Some of them are just color shifted versions of other slivers, but I'm sure you're aware of that.
Many of the Time Spiral and Planar Chaos slivers are colour shifted (e.g. vigilance in blue; trample in red; haste in green; regenerate in white; first-strike in black), so he's actually un-colour shifting some of them. Making a black sliver lord helps balance them a bit, as (existing) black slivers tend to be the weakest.
Do you really need all five colours to get indestructibility? This seems like a fine ability for an end-of-the-line white or perhaps green Sliver.
That's probably the most overpowered of them all... but perhaps no less "broken" than the existing 5-colour legendary slivers. If it existed, it would definitely go in my EDH deck - and be an early tutor.
*edit* While I was posting, you removed/replaced several of the images. You should include them at least in text form so we can see the evolution of the cards. Otherwise, these posts (to this point) don't make a lot of sense.
P.S. Phantasmal Sliver has to do a lot more than give +1/+1 if it's going to have such a huge drawback (not to mention its relatively high casting cost).
If there's anything I can improve on the art, flavor text, power level, wording, grammar, etc, please do tell. Also, if you can think of a better name for the cards, flavor text, or even better abilities that match the art, feel free to suggest.

I think the cost of them is way too streamlined. I'd like you to have upped the CMC of some by two or three.

Riptide Replicator

I'm sure you can think of something by yourself.
AEther Sliver - This potentially leads to really annoying combos. Should at the very least be "nonland permanent". Might be more appropriate either returning just creatures like Barrin, Master Wizard or being costed closer to Dispersing Orb. I'm not sure why it is an Illusion too.

Cannibal Sliver - Could probably just be "target creature" like Goblin Sledder
Swift Sliver - Do Sliver decks want another Quick Sliver? I think it fits better in green anyway.
Bone Sliver - Sliver decks do not need another Muscle Sliver/Sinew Sliver.
Stem Sliver - Clot Sliver.
Marsh Sliver - This is really clunky and only leads to noninteraction.

Lunar Sliver - Smaller easier to play Synchronous Sliver, but that might not actually be a good thing given the glut of other two and three mana Slivers here.
Frost Sliver - Nothing blue about this. Making all Slivers into Prodigal Sorcerers is a little scarry. Acidic Sliver and Cautery Sliver both sacrifice for damage, Quilled Sliver is limited to attacking or blocking creatures.
Metamorphic Sliver - Interesting Jwari Shapeshifter variant.
Sliver Warchief - ... because Sliver decks aren't already good enough with Heartstone? Should at least cost four mana.
Dread Sliver - Next closest card is Malevolent Awakening, so the activated ability should maybe cost 3 or 4.
Sliver Replicator - Seems wildly swingy: either does nothing or is way overpowered.
Sliversphere - Incredibly narrow Safe Haven variant.
Guardian Sliver - "Each sliver can block an additional creature." Interesting design.
To those asking about the art, all I can say is that my google-fu is powerful. Also, the name of the artists are on the renders, so you can look them up.

GWU: Rafiq of the Many
WUB: Sydri, Galvanic Genius
URG: Riku of Two Reflections
BRG: Kresh the Bloodbraided
WUBRG: Sliver Overlord
Edit: Didn't notice phantasmal on my first go through, can probably cost U for that kind of drawback.
