10/25 update:
-Stoneforge Mystic: A turn 2 SFM doesn't do a whole lot for me. Spending mana to get a sword into play just gets me behind on the board. The swords, although strong, don't increase my clock. I think I don't need them.
-Sword of Feast and Famine: See above.
-Sword of Fire and Ice: See above.
-Oust: A fine card, but I think I prefer Chain Lightning. I might add this back in eventually.
-Land Tax: Not a bad card, but a bad top deck. I feel like it is great in a deck made more to abuse it, here it just draws me lands.
-Gush: Gush is a broken card. This deck doesn't do enough to break it though. Much more powerful in a 60 card format.
+Electrolyze: I've been considering this for a while. Cantrip removal that can function as a 3 for 1. Nice against Animar on the play.
+Chain Lightning: A swap over Oust. Kills the early creatures and they don't come back. Helps against planeswalkers.
+Careful Consideration: I have been wanting to draw more cards. We will see if this is the way to do it.
+Intuition: This is an awesome spell. Stacks of Wrath, DoJ, and Supreme Verdict will be nice. As will Jace, Jace, Ajani.
+Detention Sphere: A second Oblivion Ring. Yes please.
+Prohibit: Counters a lot of things in this format for 2 mana, and the rest for 4. I like it in other decks. I will see how it is here.
11/1 Update
-Island: Blasphemy. I know
+Cephalid Coliseum: Taps for blue and deals a damage to me, but has the awesome upside of filtering some cards for me late game.
11/19 Update
-Electrolyze: Too expensive for what it does. The format is fast.
+Sleight of Hand: The more Cantrips the better in my opinion. Eventually they start to chain into one another.
Average Converted Mana Cost: 2.33
Deck's current total mana (Sum of CMC of all cards): 138
Why Ruhan? I selected Ruhan as my commander for 2 main reasons. First, his colors are great for control offering cheap removal, counterspells, sweepers, card draw, and especially planeswalkers. Second, after playing other control decks in the format it became obvious that controlling the board was easy, but effectively finishing off my opponent could be difficult. The problem was my win cons. If I drew too many I would lose, because I would be unable to get to the point in the game where casting them was reasonable. If I didn't find one, I would never be able to kill my opponent. Ruhan fixes this problem by being my main win con. I never have to worry about drawing him. I just cast him when I am ready. The rest of the deck is dedicated to getting to the point in the game where I can safely cast him and kill them with general damage after 3 hits.
I agree that Tamiyo is probably missing. I haven't got around to testing her yet. That's another card that I will have to find room for.
I can see isochron scepter being more vulnerable now than usual with all the artifact hate being played, but do people really have more that 3 or 4 artifact kill spells in their deck? If the card is unanswered it generates a huge advantage.
I have been considering cutting Magma Jet for Izzet Charm. Seems like a more versatile version of the card. I do like the scry though, it is useful in this format.
Armageddon is a very powerful card but I didn't really like it because it is only good if I have stuck a planeswalker or Ruhan. When either of those things happen, I am already winning. Armageddon seals the deal right there, but doesn't help me get to the point of playing a win con.
I like Humility, but I don't see how I can win once it is out. I play less creatures than most decks, and my walker's can't really kill anyone except for JTMS.
Thank you for your input especially about Tamiyo. As soon as I get one I will add her in.
EDIT: Updated list with new cards from Return to Ravnica and Tamiyo. Still need to find room for Detention Sphere.
EDIT 2 (10/25): 6 slots changed. Will update OP soon, and give detailed explanation. Spoiler Alert! No more SFM.
Updated list in OP. I haven't got around to testing Mizzium Mortars yet, but I am thinking about it. I also might want more 1 mana cantrips. Opt and Sleight of Hand seem like good options.
Update: Swapped out Electrolyze for Sleight of Hand.
I am going to be looking for cards to cut for Opt, Telling Time and Sphinx's Revelation. The deck seems like it just needs to smooth out the draws and get some extra cards lategame. The lifegain will help too. I might want to get Karn Liberated back into the deck, but before it was always to expensive to cast, so I'll be thinking about that as well.
I haven't missed Stoneforge Mystic but I was never playing it with Batterskull, so maybe that is where I messed up.
Tibalt the Fiend Blooded is not the kind of card you want for a control deck. The +1 is not terrible, but we really don't want to be discarding a card randomly. Its better in a deck that will have a lot of excess lands to be discarding, this is definitely not that deck.
If you are looking for replacements for Force of Will and Jace the Mindsculptor, don't worry too much. Obviously those are the optimal card slots, but you don't need them. I don't think FoW can be replaced by just another counterspell, so if you don't have it, then just treat it as a swing slot. Same with Jace, except for he helps win games and creates card advantage. Hard for most cards to do. I think I would try Propaganda and Chandra the Firebrand. Both strong cards that will help make up for the lack of the other 2. Once you play the deck, you will get a feel for what will and won't be effective.
Is Dream Tides worth a slot? Sounds like a great card.
Except in the case of utility creatures, it is worse than Ghostly Prison and Propaganda . It will also often be worse than Collective Restraint , which I would consider over it. For four mana it doesn't have enough impact.

Cool, played quite a few test matches to get a feel for how the deck goes. Actually went and popped in Ajani, Caller of the Pride for the Jace slot, nothing like attacking with a 7/7 double striker, i think it is a bit underplayed.
Still missing a quite a few of the big boy fetch lands, only just learned how to list cards with links So will throw my list here in less than a week.

Here is the list I am currently playing. Not french ban list, but has a small banlist, close to the french ban list. The mana rocks like mana crypt, sol ring, etc... banned. Also, deck is based on the 40 life, and not 30 life.
More artifact heavy deck, with a mass ld type feel. Trying to figure out if i should put in a Winter Orb and remove the equipment package, but not sure.
Given it is played in a more creature heavy meta game there are a few counter creature cards, control has not taken a big hold on my meta, mostly aggro decks.
Always had a love for control decks, and ran a similar build to the above with all red removed and put grand arbiter as commander. Ruhan is quite a fun deck to play.
Thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
Banlist i was working with have the following in the colour range banned: Dream Halls, Mana Crypt, Mana Drain, Mana Vault, Serra Ascendant, Sol Ring.
EDIT: How have you done against Vendilion Clique commander decks?
Hi, I think that this is the best posts for competitive Ruhan in mtgsalvation.com.
I would like some help for my mana base in Ruhan.
My list of Ruhan is making heavy card advantage and has a lot of sweepers and disruption. It plays only the most decisive planeswalkers.
It's inspired by Martial Moreau's decklist : http://www.mtgtop8.com/event2?e=3124
I'm running 39 lands and I would like to run the 3 land disruptions wasteland, tectonic and rishadan port. (of course, if it's a bad idea tell me your point of view)
The only other point I want is to have a manabase which is as stable as possible and not running too few basics to have some solutions against blood moon/ dust bowl.
I would like to find a good equilibrium between getting my double white mana to wrath as soon as possible and getting blue to counter and draw. But also finding the red in some fast match ups like ezuri and animar to play turn 2 pyroclasm.
Then, i don't want to have too many filterlands in the early game or having the M13/ innistrad lands coming into play tapped.
Finally some great inclusions might be cephalid coliseum to filter relevant cards, and minamo to get a defensive Ruhan for my PW. (good color fixing but no island type, so they didn't make the cut. I might be wrong about it).
Here is my manabase :
Are some choices bad ? Am I missing something ? I think I'm asking quite a hard question but I think it's very important in a tricolore deck with so many possibilities to optimize the manabase :
I think Humility is one of the most powerful cards available in the format.
Emether.
Hi Emether, given the above, what do you think would be a viable replacement for humility if you look at my decklist? Also wracking my brain over what to swap for boros charm, have both cards, just not sure what to remove. Was thinking taking out Armageddon and replacing it with Humility, did the same with how i put Jace, Architect of Thought in, took out Ravages of War. But Boros Charm still looking for something to be taken out
Could you let me know? Updated the decklist to what i useed inthe last tournament i took it to.
I don't like any Gatecrash cards for this deck. Tapping out usually feels really bad, so I think Compulsive Research should be cut. Careful Consideration hasn't been good enough. Electrolyze and Repeal both need to be in the deck. Sphinx's Revelation might be the raw card advantage card the deck needs. The life gain is relevant. Walkers can be a problem, which is why Detention Sphere and Oblivion Ring are fantastic. I lost to an ultimated Elspeth the last time I played this against Geist. Humility is an awesome card, but if it is in play I have a hard time winning. Few of my walkers can finish a game by themselves. Ruhan is my main win con. He sucks with humility out. So for this build I don't like Humility. Boros Charm isn't bad for the reasons Emether stated. I'm not going to play it in this version though.
Edit: I should also have Tectonic Edge in my list. One wasteland is not enough.
Finally got my hand on big boy jace, replaces the architect of thought.
Dragons maze also provides a neat card in the new izzet walker, replacing the current armageddon effect left. Plus i love the card, has that whole izzet thing worked out, plus another source of removal for 4 cmc
Currently running two versions of Ruhan. The counter control heavy one listed here and a more global board control version I am using in the gatherling tourney (will list once tourney is done).
Will try stoneforge and sword of feast and famine in my second version. Given the amount of instants compared to sorcery ratio I never quite enjoyed the Chandra's currently available. Chandra firebrand is definitely an mvp in maelstrom list (nothing like copying a cascaded tolime walk). Hoping new chandra would have something to offer.
Render silent is nice. Already run silence (a card that keeps surprising me) and counterspell, why not try render silent as the best of both. Will see once playtested if it would make the kind of impact I think it would.
Apologies for no card links, typing from mobile. Nothing like the feeling when your opponent is on 14 general damage and one more swing from ruhan is all you need, and your silence him on his upkeep. Bad though is that render silent is three cmc and not 2 cmc, replacement for spell crumple maybe
How did Ral Zarek worked ? Did he mostly denied mana or tapped creatures, or removed blockers ?
How do you specifically use it in the deck ?
Thanks
Mostly used to tap mana (when against blue) or removing a blocker when one ruhan attack away from victory. Untap mana rocks/scepter/ruhan depending on the situation. A kind of non-green garruk is nice to have.
It's been a long time since I've posted here. I will be updating the list soon. My OP still has phantasmal image in it which is obviously not good anymore. SO sometime in the next few days I will have an updated list including JOURNEY INTO NYX cards. Spoiler: Not too many inclusions from the new set.
I played Jeskai control last weekend but with Narset as a way to 'draw cards' late game. Deck felt good, but my top 8 bracket was only Selvalas and titanias.

EDIT2: Removed Batterskull , Stoneforge Mystic and Sword of Feast and Famine and replaced them with Tamiyo, the moon sage, Crystal Shard, and Winter Orb. The updates made a substantial difference. Took it to the weekly online league, so far it is standing on a 5 wins and 1 loss (loss due to incorrect mulligan) Will list deck's played against when I have more time.
Seems like a solid mana base, though i have never been a fan of the filter lands. I still need to get a shivan and the pain lands.
Think i need to start my own thread given this one has not been updated in a while, once i have some time.

Had these cards in, even the batterskull stoneforge mix in. In the control version does not make a big impact compared to the other card choices

Render Silent has earned it's keep, as well as Wear & Tear
