This thread is for discussion of the Tezzeret, the Seeker/Thopter Foundry control deck. The deck, much like Dark Depths, relies on the inevitability of a control deck to give you the time necessary to build up your combo cards until you're able to use it and essentially lock your opponent out of the game to overcome your opponent. Even less so than Dark Depths, the deck is not a combo deck but much more focused on establishing control over your opponent, especially since the deck doesn't play its maximum allowed number of its combo elements. Also unlike Dark Depths, the deck requires two cards to work instead of a land and single non-land.
Finnally a good control deck. We've got a balanced meta now woohoo.
This is a very flexible decklist and it's got outs against everything.
Anyway, I'd like to request that this gets stickied because it had 6 out of 27 of the first place decklists at worlds. There aren't any higher level events so I definitely think that it's earned it's spot.

@Ohlin, the lich I think Time Sieve isn't really necessary. Its really ineffective without the other two combo pieces. Since the deck only runs 2 thopter foundry and 1 Sword of the Meek it will just be a useless card. Sieve would be more fit for the more combo'ish version of the deck where the entire decks function is to get the thopter-meek combo online ASAP.

Has anyone tried splashing green for goyf + life from the loam? Seen a few decks like this that manage to turn into a beatdown and further card advantage.
I also seem to like crucible of worlds maindeck. Awesome to tutor for when they kill your academy ruins.

I think that the more important reason it shouldn't be played is you can't fit it into the gifts ungiven package.

You could add another if you feel its necessary. What do you usually gifts for. You should get the combo going if you gifts for thopter foundry, sword of the meek, tolaria west and muddle the mixture. If they are a good player they give ,you sword and either tolaria ( which you can use to fetch academy ruins) or muddle (which you can use to fetch thopter foundry)
i actualy splased green for loam, its done well. academy is fragile in the current format with every1 running ghost quarter. loam isnt only good against GQ, it works great with it aswell.
Kancer, what is your list if I may ask...I was thinking of having a life from the loam in the main (maybe rotating goyfs from the zoo deck but w/e) in the list I was going to build, but some of the cards seem too important to just cut.

I don't think loam is needed. The only use I can think about for it is too recur academy ruins and ghost quarters which i don't think warrants splashing another color for loam. if anythink I would add crucible before loam. If you're worried about not having academy ruin protection for the combo, just add another main deck. Ghost quarter recursion isn't need because you should be a favorite against depths and punishing fire doesn't affect you.

First off, academy ruins wins the mirror more than anything else. In all honesty, I'd do everything in my power to get it into play and keep it in play. Life from the loam is okay with getting countered and it's also okay with going to the yard because it keeps coming back. If crucible gets countered, your land is gone for good.
Reusing ghost quarter or being able to strip mine academy ruins in the mirror and some other matchups are pretty damn helpful.
Believe it.
It keeps hypergenesis off of casting anything besides simian spirit guide. It's a recurring strip mine against affinity too.

The card is pretty awful on its own, and there's really no reason to weaken the deck by putting it in there. You'd be better off with Krark-clan Ironworks, which I think a lot of builds ditched already.

A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
If you read the artice on wizards called "The meek and the martyred" you'd see an interesting build you can alter. I manage to win turn 4 consistently after altering that deck using Krark-Clan Ironworks (effectively). To be honest guys this version of the deck i saw in the worlds top is just a cheap knock-off of a U/W tron deck . (specially with greensplash for loam just ask me for a list of that and i'll message you it).
I ain't saying the build isn't strong. Top in de worlds tournament for crying out loud. I am just saying that there is an easier cheaper more consistent way of playing this. I won't post lists but if you wanna know just gimme a message and i'll send you my list.
I cannot see adding green to the deck. I know that you would only change 2 lands, but this mana base allows to win even if our opponents have first turn blood moon/magus. The only edit I did to the worlds list was add another academy ruins so that I could gifts for academy ruins, tolaria west, thopter foundry, and sword of the meek and have the combo. This also helps in the mirror, and the cruciple can be added in place of an EE or chalice in "mirrors".

If that's the article I think it is, then that deck is terrible. It's just sooooo bad. Tezz/thopter control is a meta solution deck which functions off of playing lots of main deck hate. Path to exile, the artifacts, even the thopter foundry/sword of the meek combo can be considered hate in one way or another. The deck in that article is a very poor combo deck that isn't resistant to anything at all.

The AIR matchup is around 50/50 maybe 55/45 in our favor. I have though about maximizing the number of basics that I run to up my chances a little bit since it should not affect my other matches very much. I think I might also try to fit in the other path because it is good vs AIR, hexdepths, and zoo.

seems random KCI, WTF? Remand is terrible except against AIR and hypergen, 4 gifts are too many as they bunk up you hand.
Chome mox seems necessary to cast gifts before 4th turn(as you will be in control or have lost in 4th to 5th turn)
SSS is only good vs hypergen though I cannot say that vindy is wrong as If i could I would put it in my list.
I would also throw the trinket mage package in because it is great vs any matchup.

So this is my build I switche dit up a bit and dropped krark clan for being to win more, i agree that trinket mage is a good idea but what do you suggest I take out for it? sprite is good against traditional zoo builds or really god with a chrome mox and remand dealys and helps me dig, mana leak is better but it won't dig. venser came back in as a two of due to the need not to auto lose to a chalice set at 2.
