I've recently been getting back into MTG and pulled my last deck I had built...maybe 14 years ago. I've been trying to update it so that I can play casual and stand somewhat of a chance. There is so much new content out there my mind is kind of spinning on where to start. Any type of feedback/criticism/ideas are extremely welcome.
Here is my current deck which I've added some new cards to:
there is a preconstructed deck called 'march of the multitudes' that will give you a good starting point. (around $90)
it comes with some cards that you'll be able to use in other modern decks. path to exile inquisition of kozilek
you can get the cards cheaper individually, but it might be easier.

pucatrade
big receipts
alpha mox emerald
beta time walk
4 goyfs received
3 liliana of the veil
4 karn liberated
3 force of will
4 grove of the burnwillows
snapcaster mage
3 horizon canopy
2 full art damnation
You could also check out some White Weenie attempts here. Knights decks are usually mono white and do the pump thing that you are looking for, check some out here.
If you want to survive at even your kitchen table you may have to gut all the creatures from your deck. You noncreature spells seem good, like Oblivion Ring. Creatures in magic certainly have gotten a lot more powerful in the last 14 years!
Lastly check out this link for all the info on Modern that you will need to get started.

Here is my current deck which I've added some new cards to:
Creatures
4 Tundra Wolves
4 Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit
4 Serra Angel
3 Ramosian Sergeant
2 Steadfast Guard
2 Grand Abolisher
2 Longbow Archer
Enchantments
4 Limited Resources
4 Honor of the Pure
3 Glorious Anthem
3 Oblivion Ring
2 Pacifism
Sorcery
1 Chaplain’s Blessing
Lands
22 Plains
So my idea is play a bunch of 1/2 drop creatures then pump them up with Honor of the Pure and Glorious Anthem. Then try to control them a little by using Limited Resources.
limited resources, longbow archer, and ramosian sergeant aren't modern legal.
you might want to consider black white tokens.

it plays cards like lingering souls and intangible virtue to go wide and overwhelm the other player.
