I've been very intrigued with using Shadow of the Grave, and think it's absolutely bonkers somehow someway. I've been piecing together a deck and eventually came up with two cards that'll work very well with it. Lotleth Troll and Noose Constrictor
By tossing out the cards, then Shadow of the Grave, you get all your cards back, then toss it right back out doubling counters for Lotleth Troll and Wild Mongrel is a pretty good card too. Now to fill out the rest of the deck that enjoys being tossed out of the hand, I've employed some recursion creatures, I didn't want too many spells that'll bother Lotleth Troll.
To get some gas, we have Paradoxical Outcome, which lets us return all the cards we don't need back to our hands (as well as some creatures the opponent controls back to theirs[/c], draw the cards (hopefully get a Shadow of the Grave) then dump it all back in, get it back with shadow, to boost counters, reuse some creatures, or whatever shenanigans i can't think of right now.
I'm hoping I didn't overlook some creatures, but this deck looks pretty strong, especially with Lotleth troll being able to dodge push, sweepers, and bolt. I actually dont' like Gravecrawler all that much in here, but I can't find another 1 drop that'll like to be discarded. I can look at some Unearth guys though.
Played this just recently on Thursday night, and this deck has some pretty explosive starts. The best thing about Lotleth troll is that you can dodge push and bolt with regeneration and that helps immensely. I got the Shadow of the Grave interaction pretty often with both Constrictor and Troll, and i found it doesn't really hurt the deck too much if they counter it. Since you can recur so many creatures back anyways.
I beat U/W Control, Burn, Burn, and lost to Grixis Death Shadow with the deck. I'm pretty happy with it. It's similar to Dredge and can sometimes be less durdly with the missed dredge draws. That said, I think having Thoughtseize or IoK in the main board will help a lto.
Block the fatty with lotleth. Regenerate. Kill the fatty with Pharaoh in your yard. rinse and repeat. Just make sure you include some extra draw cards as this combo nullifies your upkeep draw.
That look slike a great suggestion. And this deck is still stupidly explosive at times. I've gotten 15 power on the board by turn 2 before with some lucky draws and perfect hand.
I'm working on a deck and needed some removal from the grave.
If you're playing Loam you should play with Raven's Crime. You will at some point draw it. Loam fills your hand with lands... chuck one and discard Pharoah.
