Alright, my fellow gamers have tasked me with creating a Custom Cube of Video Game inspired MTG cards. Thematically the cube would include characters, themes, locations, and abilities from the extended history of the video game universe from Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy; the originals on Nintendo all the way through Gears of War and Mass Effect in todays gaming consoles leaving everything pretty open. The only symetry so to speak is that they are easily recognizeable to their origins and that like video game titled characters and/or abilities interact or boost each other. If anyone would be interested in assisting me I would greatly appreciate it. I will place more information soon when I have more worked out on how I want to approach this.
Mechanics: Open to all existing mechanics currently in magic as well as open to up to three new mechanics. One I would like to incorporate is:
(Last Gasp/or Final Breath) When this creature is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
Kind of a play on taking someone with you if you can, the name of the ability is up for debate.
One of my friends suggested a super good probably broken ability called
Calvacade: (When ~ enters the battlefield, put a 1/1 creature token onto the battlefield for each creature type among creatures on the battlfield under their owner's control)
The wording may be off, not sure how to word it, but the jist is, you cast this creature, and everyone gets a 1/1 token for each creature they control of the same creature type as the creature that generated that token. Slightly confusing, and needs work, but I hope someone understands it and can clean it up a bit.
Intially I'd like to do a 360 or so card cube, with the full realization that we are not going to create 360 cards from scratch. I am fully willing to allow already printed magic the gathering cards in as long as they fit the overall theme and can be tied to video games. Commonality doesn't matter as this is a cube and not a regular set, but the power creep should still make for a fun and balanced cube where one single card can not simply rule the game. Thanks ahead of time. More to come after some much needed sleep.

Yeah I would love to give different gaming console factions different flavors. Like I said, this is very early in the development stages so I'm just looking for people willing to help me lay out keyword abilities and overall feel first. Then we can start trying to make the actual cards. I just need a few people to help me with card wording, and rating the feel and strength of the cards once they are in the creation process as well. As always I am open completely to anyone who wants to suggest a full card. As cards are suggested I will post them in a spoiler drop down, take criticisms on them, and tweak them as needed.
Also trying to figure out whether or not to make Planeswalkers, maybe on the basis of the best of the best immortal type characters in gaming history, and exactly how many to make. any ideas?
Big Daddy WW
Creature - Construct (U)
First strike
When ~ enters the battlefield, put a ½/½ white Human Child creature token named Little Girl onto the battlefield.
2/2
Cute, and it fits the namesake, but I'd like to stay away from Unglued/Unhinged style cards so the 1/2 1/2 power/toughness isn't something I'm looking for. Thanks for the attempt though.
So to get everyone started in the card creation mood I suggest we start with probably the easiest initial cards to make, the Super Mario Bros, cards. Looking for ideas for the following:
Mario
Lugio
Princess Peach
Toadstool
Bowser (suggested as a mythic rare)
Yoshi
Star Power
Flower Power
Magic Mushroom
Mushroom Kingdom (legendary land?)
Koopalings
Big Boo
Your Princess is in another castle 1WW

As an additional cost to cast ~, return a [Princess/White Creature/Some Other Subtype] to your hand from the battlefield.
Put three 1/1 white Mushroom creatures onto the battlefield.

I like it but I would make the change from "Mushroom" creatures to Toadstool to be correct as what they were in the actual game. The creature type to return should probably play off the gaming console synergy and be a Nintendo creature. Not sure yet whether or not we should make gaming console denote color, be like a tribal subtype, or be a "special" typing that has yet to be used in regular magic such as a unique mark somewhere in the text of the card. Ideas?
