The Story:
The story so far: Link has just completed the events in Ocarina of Time and Princess Zelda has sent him back to his own time to regain the seven years he spent sleeping in the Sacred Realm. So, instead of fighting Ganondorf again and again ad naseum, Link decides to look for Navi, the friend who deserted him for a peaceful life in the forest. The skullkid he befriended during his OoT days has become possessed by an evil mask he stole from the wandering Happy Mask Salesman, and consequently steals Link's horse and ocarina.
Based during Link's adventures in Termina, this set chronicles the three days he spent trying to save the land from the menace that is Majora's Mask, who has summoned the moon to crash into Clock Town.
Set Info:
This set will have 165 cards EDIT: might have to be more than that now, divided into 60 Commons, 55 Uncommons, and 50 Rares. There will be 15 Artifacts, and 30 of each color card, 11 commons, 10 uncommons, and 9 rares each.
New Stuff:
A new enchantment type called, "Mask" (Enchantment - Mask) will be introduced. Whenever a player plays a creature, if you have a mask card in your hand, you must attach it to that creature. Only one Mask may be attached to a creature at a time (Auras and Equipment can still be piled on). When the creature the mask is enchanting leaves play, the mask is returned to your hand. Masks are the color of their border, as there isn't enough space to write "XXXXXX is Blue." You conrol masks even if they're attached to an opponent's creature.
A new mechanic is "72 Hours" It's similar to Fading, but it's always 3 'Day' counters, and when you remove the last one, you lose the game instead of sacrificing the permanent. Counters are removed at the end of your turn instead of the beginning of your upkeep.
New creature types introduced are the Deku, wooden tree creatures. As in the game, they're highly secular. The set will also contain more Gorons (sorry, no Zoras - Blue had too much stuff). And some creatures are so weird, they get their own creature type! EDIT: I have no idea what to do with masks at the moment. Check back in a while. EDIT 2: As of now, I'm gonna have to cop out and make them like equipment to continue with the previewing. EDIT 3: Guh, I dunno anymore. Waiting for HH to confirm new rules. EDIT 4: Here are the official rules now: Rules - {Cost}: Attach to target creature. This card comes into play attached to target creature you control and stays in play if the creatue leaves play. A creature may only have one mask attached to it.
Notes: Although the set will eventually have 165 cards, I've only completed about 100 of them right now.
Feel free to complain, comment, rules snipe, compliment, whatever.
All cards will be posted in this post as I reveal them, so you don't have to go searching through the thread.

IMPORTANT EDIT: In the Custom Set Creation and Discussion subforum, where you can click on my thread, there's a little paper clip button in the top right corner. If you click it, you can view all the thread's attachments! Now I don't have to painstakingly upload them from the Testing Grounds!
Let's take a more in depth look at the 'mask' mechanic:
So if you play a Birds of Paradise and you have Bunny Hood in your hand, you have to attach it. This obvious advantage is balanced by the fact that if your opponent beats you to the punch, you're going to have to give it to him.
Here's something that interacts with the 'temple' lands from the previous post. You'll notice that there's no green temple, so this card's only use is in a multicolor deck. In the game, you fly to the chosen location. But you can't do that in Magic, so instead you bring the place to you.
EDIT: As of March 17, here's the improved Bunny Hood:
The game CANNOT force you to do something with cards in hidden zones. How the heck do you figure it could?
I'm going to write the following as a suggestion to you:
212.xx... Mask
Mask is an artifact subtype.
212.xx.a. A Mask comes into play unattached, and can remain in play while unattached, like Equipment. Then under certain conditions, a Mask can be attached to a permanent. The permanent to which a Mask is attached is the "masked permanent," and the Mask "masks" or "is masking" that permanent.
212.xx.b A Mask can only attach to a creature.
212.xx.c. In much the same way as Auras and Equipment, certain rules and restrictions on masking apply. If a Mask ever becomes a creature, or attaches to itself, it becomes unattached as a State-Based Effect. If the masked permanent becomes noncreature, the Mask unattaches as a State-Based Effect. If a Mask would attach to a noncreature object, instead it doesn't.
212.xx.d. A Mask cannot attach to a masked permanent. In other words, a permanent can be masked by at most one Mask.
212.xx.e All Masks have the following intrinsic text, as though it were printed on it:
"
Whenever a creature comes into play, attach this Mask to it.
When masked creature leaves play, return this Mask to its owner's hand.
"

I personally recommend making Masks artifacts. It just makes so much more sense. You can have colored artifacts. And I'm not just saying that because of Sarcomite Myr. Nonetheless, Sarcomite Myr. ( )
If I were to fix up what you had for Mask, ... no, wait... no, there's no way to do anything close to what you were thinking for Masks.
Oh yeah, and you can't have the border indicate its color. That's just... poor craft.
Hopefully, you have means of resetting your 72 hours cards. Y'know, 'cause Link always could.

The game says a lot of things. Rules are meant to be broken (what about discard?). In any case, the "Mask" mechanic was a product of me trying to be innovative and doing something different than either equipment or auras (Also, I was too lazy to make costs for them, so I just made them all cost '-'.
Thanks for the giant rules schpiel - I appriciate the effort and will include it in my original post.

Originally, I wanted to make them artifacts, but if I did that the set would be in excess of 30 artifacts, and that's like something out of Mirroden.
If I were to fix up what you had for Mask, ... no, wait... no, there's no way to do anything close to what you were thinking for Masks.
??? But you just gave me the comp. rules for them!
Oh yeah, and you can't have the border indicate its color. That's just... poor craft.
Yep. Again, trying to be innovative, also trying not to clutter up the text box with text most people could probably figure out themselves.
Hopefully, you have means of resetting your 72 hours cards. Y'know, 'cause Link always could.
Thanks for the idea. I have one now.
EDIT: while I'm at it, I might as well add some mo' cards. Maybe some that won't cause rules issues.
Regarding "Curse": When a blue bubble curses you, you aren't able to draw your sword for a while. The card cantrips just cause it sucks otherwise.
EDIT: Retcon of Usurp and Curse
I'm errata-ing the "72 Hours" mechanic to make it mesh better with a card in the set. Counters are now removed at the end of your turn instead of the beginning of your upkeep. (So, essentially you lose the game in 2 turns instead of 3. But 'at' end of turn effects can be played around with.)
In the game, whenever you hit a Wolfos, it spins around and hits you back. Mechanic seems white. The snow type is random, but it's the only thing different about the White Wolfos.
The game says a lot of things. Rules are meant to be broken (what about discard?). No, I mean, *really*, this game, and any other conceivable game, CANNOT force a player to pick out something based on its properties from a place that is invisible to one player. As in, if a Mask is in your hand, you can just... not put it into play, and your opponent is none the wiser.
Even with Morph, you can adapt rules that force them to be revealed. But there is NO WAY to enforce the rules you want for Masks.
Originally, I wanted to make them artifacts, but if I did that the set would be in excess of 30 artifacts, and that's like something out of Mirroden.
Alright, I guess.
Thanks for the giant rules schpiel - I appriciate the effort and will include it in my original post.
??? But you just gave me the comp. rules for them!
Read them carefully. You'll find that I've changed the way they work. You need to provide a way for Masks to get into play, and to later attach them to things. Tell me if you want Masks to work like Auras instead of Equipment.
Note, this means your Masks can't cost {} unless you surprise me with something.
EDIT: while I'm at it, I might as well add some mo' cards. Maybe some that won't cause rules issues.
Regarding "Curse": When a blue bubble curses you, you aren't able to draw your sword for a while. The card cantrips just cause it sucks otherwise.
Yeah, I played Majora's Mask.
Ummm... you can't have the border color indicate the card's color. Just put a mana symbol in the mana cost. You need to anyway. Make everybody happy.
The only things wrong with your four new cards are that they capitalize keywords that aren't sentence-initial. Take a look at these:
But there is NO WAY to enforce the rules you want for Masks.
Agreed. Masks need a serious overhaul. Guess I'll just cop out and make them auras.
Yeah, I played Majora's Mask.
But think of all the poor, underpriveleged children who haven't!
The only things wrong with your four new cards are that they capitalize keywords that aren't sentence-initial
Retconned Usurp and Curse. Can't see a problem with the other two.
New Stuff:
Now, because I don't think Horseshoe Hermit has enough stuff to do in his spare time, here are some cards that will most probably cause rules issues:
Ascension: flavor text says it.
Pictography: You have a camera in the game.
Curiosity Shop: seems like the least wordy way of saying what I want it to do.
Wanton Destruction: Trying to make a johnny card that abuses "Whenever ~ becomes the target..." triggers.
Great Fairy's sword: Because this sword is very, very powerful.
Yeah. This set isn't shaping up to be to good, is it?
The astute among you may notice that one of these card's arts is not from MM. Bonus points if you guess what game, and where in the game it's from.
WHoo. More stuff.
What do the think of the 'keaton' mechanic? It represents the 'keaton quiz' aspect. It's essentially asking you, "what card type is this?" and if you get the answer right, you'll get rewarded with a 'piece of heart' - or card.
The set has a CMC < 3 theme going on.
Too good? You decide if it's worth losing the game in 2 turns. Can't attack if you have an Evil Eye out. Lol. EDIT: Now it can!!!
I like the flavor text and mechanic. It's not excatly 'big' but it puts the 'gocto' in 'bigocto'.
Yes, I know that green doesn't fly. Read the flavor text. The set also has a deku theme that strengthens them if you have nothing else out. Don't worry, they get better than this.
Garo: Garos are ninjas. There is no room for ninjitsu. But a Ninja always has room for first strike. when a Garo dies, it tells you a bit of information and then vanishes.
Postman-Goro: You make him sleep out in the rain. When dawn comes, he's dissapeared.
Powder Keg: Only Gorons are strong enough to lift these. Unless you use a cheat code.
Now, because I don't think Horseshoe Hermit has enough stuff to do in his spare time, here are some cards that will most probably cause rules issues:
Oh no! My secret is out!!!!
Ascension
You may play activated abilities of permanents that your opponents control.
Golden Rule allows me to avoid "as though" crap. Still, something feels wrong here. Don't take this as my penultimate reply to you.
Why is this White? And what does it have to do with the four giants? and what do they have to do with ascension?

Choose target spell. The next time you play a spell, copy the text box of the targeted spell onto it as you play it.
That's kinda awkward, mostly because I'm talking about two spells in one sentence, but also because I'm choosing a target that I do nothing with during resolution. You'll notice I imported the wording for Splice. "The next time you play a spell" is new stuff which I *think* should be okay. It's similar to replacement because it creates a static ability that's waiting to apply.
Basically, I'm hoping it'll work like splice, as though you had, in your hand, a card with the text box of the targeted spell as it most recently existed (last known information). Except you don't pay a "splice cost".
You should know that your initial wording was utter nonsense, particularly about copying. Read section 503, dammit.
Curiosity Shop
[...] X: Return target permanent card with converted mana cost X from a graveyard to play under your control. X is the number of counters on Curiosity Shop. Any player may play this ability.
If I remember the card that sets the precedent for making the variable cost (X) not quite so variable, I'll tell you.
The "under your control" isn't necessary, but I admit it could make even the seasoned do a double-take, as it is reasonable to give your opponent Phage if you could.
Wanton Destruction
[...]
Choose X target creatures and/or players, where X is the number of creatures plus the number of players. (This spell targets all of them but does nothing)
Just a suggestion to add the reminder text. You have the space.
Great Fairy Sword
[...]
Equipped creature gets +X/+0, where X is its power.
Fatal Frenzy.
The sword applies in layer 6d. Timestamp is relevant. The sword is given a timestamp every time it attaches to something (which doesn't include trying to attach it to equipped creature). Funnily enough, you can pass the sword around and back and change the creature's power if there's something like Gaea's Anthem. Example: Grizzly Bear picks up Fairy sword. Gets +2/+0. Gaea's Anthem comes into play. Is 5/3. Remove Fairy sword. Is 3/3. Reattach. Is 6/3.
Keaton
Creature - Fox Spirit (nice creative development)
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player chooses a card type, then reveals the top card of his or her library. If that card is the chosen type, that player puts it into his or her hand.
Fertile Imagination.
Considered making it "may"? I can appreciate making this White for flavour and balance, but are you sure Keaton isn't Blue? btw, I can't believe I never knew about this. *runs off to play Majora's Mask*
Dexihand? Damn, I really need to look for more secrets. I got stuck on one part, so I guess I'll give it some more effort. Flawless templating.
Shouldn't Eyegore be an Eye? Also, two-word keywords don't violate capitalization conventions: Rockshard Elemental. "72 hours" is what you get.
The ability, or rather, the cost, of Bigocto to return creatures without interruption is quite powerful. You may note that cards in Red, if any, which allowed self-bounce at such a speed, are all outdated; and certainly not without opportunity to interrupt.
Self-bouncing in Red is out of pie, unless it's strictly a cost (well, nothing is strictly a cost, but I mean like sorcery speed gating). Not even Planar Chaos went there.
Deku Flower GG: Target Deku gains flying until end of turn. Play this ability only once each turn if you control a non-Deku creature.
Garo is fine.
Postman-Goro
When Postman-Goro becomes the target of a blue spell or an ability from a blue source, sacrifice it.
Are you sure Postman-Goro is really named such?
Anyway, abilities on the stack have the same text as that ability-as-text on which it is modeled, and no other characteristics. That means no color. Protection checks the source of abilities, so I made your ability like this.
Powder Keg
72 hours
You can't sacrifice Powder Keg if you don't control a Goron.
Sacrifice Powder Keg: Destroy target artifact, land, or creature.
I despise these abilities that just throw in "if"s when they can't do "as long as"s... s...ss..z.. yeah. They're a pain.

Hmmm, that expansion symbol is indeed quite awesome. anyway, this looks like a cool set. You must make the Mask and Link cards too, obviously. and I think that Majora's Mask is a bit too powerful and is too much a person rather than artifact that it shouldn't be a Mask card.
EDIT: and you need to make more cards that interact with the 72 days mechanic. losing in three turns is a bit too much, no matter what the card does.
Retconned: Ascension; Pictography; Curiosity Shop; Great Fairy's Sword; Keaton; Eyegore; Deku Flower; Postman-Goro; Powder Keg; Bigocto. Whew! That's a mouthful.

Because of white's 'anything you can do I can do better' attitude.

Because they're so powerful/awesome/removed from society, they don't need to abide be the physical rules of Termina (read: the rules of the game).

I dunno about this one... I think the word ''target'' must be specifically shown on the rules for it to target.
Grizzly Bear picks up Fairy sword. Gets +2/+0. Gaea's Anthem comes into play. Is 5/3. Remove Fairy sword. Is 3/3. Reattach. Is 6/3.
Weird. I don't like the rules.
btw, I can't believe I never knew about this. *runs off to play Majora's Mask*......I got stuck on one part......
Getting the Keaton Mask is the hard part. LMK if you want a help.
Shouldn't Eyegore be an Eye?
Yeah, why not. Maybe: Creature - Eye Gore
The ability, or rather, the cost, of Bigocto to return creatures without interruption is quite powerful.
Changed to RED creature. Maybe that'll help.

No, he's named "Postman-Goro", not "Such" But seriously, he doesn't have an official name.

I did it for you, HH. I DID IT ALL FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!! (rips shirt open)
'K then.
It's very hard to believe this hasn't been done on a land before. Flavor: no-one knows where Sakon's Hideout is, so it's hard to target something if you can't find it.
Another 'shroud' card. (PS: I don't like the keyword shroud, so I won't be using it.) Flavor: spells and abilities bounce off its hard shell. The Snapper has a vulnerable underside that you can exploit by burrowing into a deku flower and hitting it from below. FOR EVERY PERSON WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHERE THIS FLAVOR TEXT COMES FROM, GOD WILL SMITE A KITTEN.
A bio-deku baba hangs underwater from a lilypad. You can remove its stem with a well placed zora boomerang. This isn't particulary flavorful, I'll concede.
EDIT: I've had to take out his name to keep him not Legendary, but his name is Shiro. He lies unseen in a ring of stones in the Canyon east of Clock Town. Only with the Lens of Truth can one see him.

There are a lot of sad people in this game.
EDIT: 1) I think I'm going to have to make this set a little bigger now, like +15 cards or something.
2) Multicolored cards will most likely be shunted into a single color to make more room for artifacts.
hm, the bio-deku baba was a cool card. so was Sakon's Hideout. as for Shiro, remember: named characters are ALWAYS legendary. it has been so since the Legends set. the rest are fine too.
And I just can't wait to see what Majora's Mask will be like...

1) Blast! I'll have to change his name, he's not cool enough to be Legendary.
2) Don't get your hopes up :(
Jugglers: sleight of hand. It's a sort of combo enabler if you need something to be in your library (to be searched or something)
Boomerang: Zora Link shoots out fins from his arms, they attack something, then return to him a la a boomerang. Rules text purged from the FD Beacons. Is this card overpowered?
Red Chuchu: Mechanic spawned because, whenever you kill a chuchu, they always respawn moments later. The Red chuchu has a heart in its stomach, which you collect when it's dead. Hence, health.
Green Chuchu: Instead of a heart, this chuchu leaves magic. A planeswalker doesn't need magic, so instead you'll put a counter on a creature.
Anju's Cooking: Anju, owner of the Stock Pot Inn, is a really bad cook. REALLY bad. Retconned Shiro, the Forgotten Soldier
Jugglers was very cool. The Chuchus were quite flavorful. while the green would have been slightly more flavorful if it gave mana when it died, it would be less playable. Zora Boomerang was very good, but zoras really are blue-aligned creatures... you probably could change the cost to 1UR, making it slightly better AND more balanced (in my opinion)

I don't know what I was thinking. Really, literally, I don't have that knowledge.
EDIT: No, wait, I was right. GGAAAAH! I'm not giving you good reason to believe me, am I?
Great Fairy Sword creates an effect from a static ability of a permanent that modifies power and/or toughness (power) but doesn't set power or toughness to a specific number or value. That means it's in layer 6d, which it shares with Gaea's Anthem. So Timestamp is relevant, so what I originally said is true. Okay.
Pictography: Good catch. Change to this:
Choose target instant or sorcery spell. The next time you play a spell, as you play it, copy the text box of the targeted spell onto it. (even if the targeted spell is gone at that time)
It really is 'targeted'. Yes, that word has never been used before, but I want to emphasize that no "choosing" actually occurred. I'm saying "Choose target" to say the target is chosen on announcement of Pictography, instead of when the next spell is being played.
Wanton Destruction works. It targets exactly the right number of things, which must all be distinct, so it targets all of them. If you want to get funny, you could say it "deals 0 damage to each of X target creatures and/or players, where X is the number of creatures plus the number of players. (This spell targets all of them but does nothing; to deal 0 damage is not to deal damage at all)"
Or something.
Sakon's Hideout can't be the target of spells or abilities. Okay. (you know there's SOMETHING behind that rock). btw, that's the part where I'm stuck. Don't tell me anything.
Snapper Attack their weak point for massive damage? Oh geezus, Genji II? Anyway.. how do you flip the Snapper over? You should make it immune to damage, not targeting, I think. Or maybe both. Or maybe immune to damage less than 3. That's the ticket.
Bio Deku Baba (you work the hyphens out)
At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are no stem counters on Bio Deku Baba, put a stem counter on it.
As long as there's a stem counter on Bio Deku Baba, it has shroud and "At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a stem counter from Bio Deku Baba."
Forgotten Soldier is unblockable and can't be the target of spells or abilities.
(or, just say "Shroud")
Why are your masks Auras? Make them artifacts for God's sake. C'mon, punch the keys: E-q-u-i-p-ment. They can exist in play unattached, right? The masks can exist not on people's faces. Just make their equip cost colored mana, if you have to. Or be a kingcobweb and push that line with colored artifacts.
Why are Jugglers fat? Anyway, you're aware they are HORRIBLY weak, and merely able to be Archivist when you're hellbent? I mean, discard is more useful than put into library, which is even more useful than SHUFFLE INTO RANDOM POSITION in library. Plus, you're shuffling before you draw. WEAK.
Zora Boomerang. Return to its owner's hand, not your hand, you Commandeering, cardstealing bastard.
Why can't the Chuchu damage things? I guess, since they're weak... but, Thought Courier is 1/1, and he peddles brain matter.... Also, is there any way to work in their immunity to blunt damage? Probly not.
Red Chuchu
When Red Chuchu is put into a graveyard from play, return it to its owner's hand and you gain 2 life.
Green Chuchu
First of all, why would magic be a +1/+1 counter? Shouldn't it at least... untap, or something?
When Green Chuchu is put into a graveyard from play, return it to its owner's hand and put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
Anju's Cooking can't do anything if it's a sorcery. Your last upkeep was this turn. It can only kill...
... oh.

Huh? I guess I must have missed something. What was the trick there?
[quote]Why are your masks Auras? Make them artifacts for God's sake. C'mon, punch the keys: E-q-u-i-p-ment. They can exist in play unattached, right? The masks can exist not on people's faces. Just make their equip cost colored mana, if you have to. Or be a kingcobweb and push that line with colored artifacts.
Guess I'll have to. For now.
New Stuff
Bremen's song: Playing this song prompts small animals to follow you. Hence the > 2 CMC requirement. Watch for song triggers coming up later in the set.
Boes: These things blend into their surroundings and grow eyes and jump at you if you come too close. Creepiest enemies in all of Zelda. It's another card inspired by Swarm of Rats. Costs 1 less because there are more rats than Boes.
The swarm's real P/T should read " 1+*/1+* " , but there's not enough room on the card frame.
Expedition: very powerful green CA. Link looking for Navi.
Bremen's Song: very flavorful this one too. powerful, but not too powerful.
Boes: good enough. and I agree: they are indeed the creepiest Zelda enemies ever. probably the most annoying too, though A Link to the Past had its share of annoying enemies as well.
Expedition: like Congregation at Dawn, only with lands, and you get one into play. nice card. the card-draw could have been dropped, though.
As for Power vs. Flavor on the Green Chuchu, go for power. choosing flavor over playability is never good. take a look at Phage or the Nephilim and you'll see what I mean.
I want it to target lands, artifacts, and enchantments too. (Well, maybe not enchantments 'cause it's red, but, you know.)
Well then replace 'creature' with 'permanent'. Jeez, do I have to do everything?
Oh, I know: Target creature gets -3/-3 until end of turn. That creature's controller discards a card. That helps a little. Now, unless your opponent has a creature, you can't cast the spell.
It's still really good.
I'm going to fix up your BBCode in the following quote:

Anju's Cooking can't do anything if it's a sorcery. Your last upkeep was this turn. It can only kill...
... oh.
You sly goose.
Change to "... if it attacked since your last upkeep."
Huh? I guess I must have missed something. What was the trick there?
Umm, as written, Anju's Cooking can only kill your guys. Since your opponent's creatures will never have attacked since your last upkeep at any time you could play a sorcery.
NEW CARDS!!!! Happy cat is not amused.
Bremen's Song is fine. I have this compulsion to be more precise with language than Wizards; I would write that as "Gain control of each creature with converted mana cost 2 or less", possibly putting the "you" in there, but what you have is what they'd write.
White Boe... I wonder what exactly allowed Traproot Kami to exist... and why it's so bad... yet the White version seems good.
Black Boe could get really dangerous. Think: Boes are a linear mechanic. They can't be balanced easily and they go the way of "Build the deck for you". Wizards is getting away from those.
Swarm of Boes: It's power and toughness should be writ "1+*/1+*". Lhurgoyf. I wish I could remember the example of that other card.... that has 2+*/2+*...
I don't think the mechanic you have is the way of doing Boes. I mean... they really *don't* get more dangerous when they pile up. If anything, it gets easier to kill them with wicked awesome whirling blade techniques.
Expedition, funny card. Try and make it like cards from the Weatherlight Saga: It directly refers to the story in flavor text, it subtly hints at the story with its other creative elements, yet the card's mechanic can stand alone.
Expedition GGG
Sorcery
Draw a card. Search your library for three basic land cards and reveal those cards. Shuffle your library, then put one of those cards into play tapped, one into your hand, and one on top of your library.
I spent 10 minutes puzzling out how to word that. It's mostly BSing though. It's not like punctuation and sentence breaking is really constant from card to card, what with the different needs of each mechanic.
Expedition is realy powerful. It's almost a shame it has to cost so much G. Really, you should try to get it maybe 2GG. There's a lot of card advantage in that spell.
Hopefully you're aware that the caster can fail to find the third card, and thus not put a land on top of his deck.

Shirley, you jest. The Traproot is the best wall ever made! Also, white version can attack.
Black Boe could get really dangerous. Think: Boes are a linear mechanic. They can't be balanced easily and they go the way of "Build the deck for you". Wizards is getting away from those.
Not really - there's only 3 of them, so you can only have 12 per deck, and the other 48 cards you'll have to do yourself.
I don't think the mechanic you have is the way of doing Boes. I mean... they really *don't* get more dangerous when they pile up.
Suggestions?
Expedition is realy powerful. It's almost a shame it has to cost so much :symg:. Really, you should try to get it maybe :2mana::symg::symg:. There's a lot of card advantage in that spell.

The extreme CA is balanced by the un-splashability of it.
Good point, wording changed to:
Draw a card.
Search your library for three basic land cards and reveal those cards. Shuffle your library, then put one of those cards on top of your library, one into your hand, and one into play tapped.
And HH, I'm just not understanding the "Anju's Cooking" debacle
I just had an idea: Masks, unlike equipment, could have an 'unmask' cost in addition to a 'mask' cost. And instead of the 'must' attach Masks from your hand whenever a creature comes into play, how about 'may'??
Official Rules text (so far):
72 hours - This comes into play with 3 day counters on it. At the end of your turn, remove a day counter from it. If you can't, you lose the game. Masks - Mask {name} {cost} - Attach to target {name} creature. This card comes into play attached to target creature you control and stays in play if the creature leaves play. A creature may only have one mask attached to it.
The {name} is if I ever want to add criteria for the Masking, like, "Mask Goron" or something.
No Cards today. MSE is real buggy.

Phage is incredibly flavorful, but nobody played her. The Nephilim are supposed to be Ancient Epic Über-Gods of Doom, but end up as overcosted and dull, even despite the cool effects.
Masks could work as a cross between Auras and Equipment... maybe Auras that can be "un-enchanted" and put on a different creature, or, as you suggested, Equipment with a separate cost to move them.
The next time you can show new cards, I'd like to see more cards that have and/or interact with the 72 hours mechanic.

STFU! (read: [stfu] in IPA)
Re: Anju's Cooking.
Creatures can only attack during their controllers' turn.
Suppose it's your turn and you can take a game action (staying really general here). Since it's your turn and you can't do something on your untap step, your upkeep has occurred. Therefore, the question of which creatures have attacked since your last upkeep is the question of which creatures have attacked this turn. These creatures, if any, will only ever be yours. So Anju's Cooking can only kill your guys.
Suppose it's not your turn. Then, you can't play a sorcery. Since the turn can't pass with something waiting on the stack, there's no way to have a sorcery on the stack on your opponent's turn. So there's no way to resolve a sorcery on your opponent's turn. So Anju's Cooking can't kill anything.***
Either it is your turn, or it's not your turn. In all cases, each creature which Anju's Cooking can kill is one which you control. So Anju's Cooking can't kill any creature you don't control.
I just had an idea: Masks, unlike equipment, could have an 'unmask' cost in addition to a 'mask' cost. And instead of the 'must' attach Masks from your hand whenever a creature comes into play, how about 'may'??
Damnit, man! Triggered abilities can't exist from a hidden zone.
You'd have to do something arcane, like this:
"After a creature comes into play, you may put a Mask into play as your next game action before you pass priority."
They didn't like it on Madness, what makes you think people could deal with that?!?!?!
***When speaking of the null set (a set with no elements, {}), one can claim anything about its contents, because they don't exist. No exemplar can refute a claim. I can say "Every box that is completely black and completely red can do integral calculus", and I speak the truth. It's vacuous truth, but it's truth. So, when I refer to the set of creatures that Anju's Cooking can kill when it's not your turn, since that set is null, I can say "each creature that Anju's Cooking can kill is a creature you control."

More 72 hours stuff, as per request. But that's about it for the set.
Stock Pot Inn: Having more than one instance of "72 Hours" won't save you. When the first instance runs out of counters, you lose, no matter how many counters the second instance has.
Owl Statue: These are used to save the game to the minute, as opposed to going back in time. When you recover your save file, everything that happened after the save is forgotten/undone. But should it RFG, graveyard, bounce, shuffle into library?
This one was an equipment from the start. The upkeep payment is because the Giant's Mask uses magic power.
Here's an alternate version, which do you prefer?
Help me to determine a cost for this toiler-dwelling hand:
Name should be "???", but MSE won't let me export that.
Also, the expansion symbol on my commons has turned into a black square - what's the deal there?
from a flavor perspective, Owl Statue should bounce stuff. but, as I've said earlier, playability really is more important. go with the way it is now.
Stock Pot inn is very nice. however, it won't be very playable without a way to deal with 72 hours.
Giant's Mask: great! this one has both flavor and goodness. tons of both. I like the second version better, masks really should be a separate subtype... as shown here, it works very well as simply equipment with a separate unequip cost.
??? was funny. good enough, but I really have NO idea about how much it should cost. Blue would probably be the best color for it.
now I'd like to see more cards that interact with 72 hours, seeing as you've shown most of the cards that have the ability.

"
***
I personally recommend making Masks artifacts. It just makes so much more sense. You can have colored artifacts. And I'm not just saying that because of Sarcomite Myr. Nonetheless, Sarcomite Myr. ( )
If I were to fix up what you had for Mask, ... no, wait... no, there's no way to do anything close to what you were thinking for Masks.
Oh yeah, and you can't have the border indicate its color. That's just... poor craft.
Hopefully, you have means of resetting your 72 hours cards. Y'know, 'cause Link always could.
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
Thanks for the giant rules schpiel - I appriciate the effort and will include it in my original post.
Originally, I wanted to make them artifacts, but if I did that the set would be in excess of 30 artifacts, and that's like something out of Mirroden.
??? But you just gave me the comp. rules for them!
Yep. Again, trying to be innovative, also trying not to clutter up the text box with text most people could probably figure out themselves.
Thanks for the idea. I have one now.
EDIT: while I'm at it, I might as well add some mo' cards. Maybe some that won't cause rules issues.
EDIT: Retcon of Usurp and Curse
and some made by me:
Yaaay.
In the game, whenever you hit a Wolfos, it spins around and hits you back. Mechanic seems white. The snow type is random, but it's the only thing different about the White Wolfos.
Alright, I guess.
Read them carefully. You'll find that I've changed the way they work. You need to provide a way for Masks to get into play, and to later attach them to things. Tell me if you want Masks to work like Auras instead of Equipment.
Note, this means your Masks can't cost {} unless you surprise me with something.
Lightning Reflexes, Gelid Shackles, Mass Hysteria.
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
Agreed. Masks need a serious overhaul. Guess I'll just cop out and make them auras.
But think of all the poor, underpriveleged children who haven't!
And now for some joke cards.
It's Majora's mask as a clock face. OWNED
Pictography U
Instant
[...]
X: Return target permanent card with converted mana cost X from a graveyard to play under your control.
Deku Flower
GG: Target Deku gains flying until end of turn.
Lawl @ Moon.

EDIT: and you need to make more cards that interact with the 72 days mechanic. losing in three turns is a bit too much, no matter what the card does.

Because of white's 'anything you can do I can do better' attitude.
Because they're so powerful/awesome/removed from society, they don't need to abide be the physical rules of Termina (read: the rules of the game).
Changed slightly from your version to:
Or... do you??? No, wait. No fires.
(reads section 503) Oh...my...God...! So that's why Bush won election 2000!
I dunno about this one... I think the word ''target'' must be specifically shown on the rules for it to target.
Weird. I don't like the rules.
Getting the Keaton Mask is the hard part. LMK if you want a help.
Yeah, why not. Maybe: Creature - Eye Gore
Changed to RED creature. Maybe that'll help.
No, he's named "Postman-Goro", not "Such" But seriously, he doesn't have an official name.
I've got something pretty cool for MM whipped up. Something that will surprise/infuriate you. Time will tell....
Fixed. And Agreed.
Original, no?
And something that can be the target of spells/abilities (but probably won't be):
This was originally an Aura, but I've got plenty of those already. FYI: There are a lot of sad people in this game.
2) Multicolored cards will most likely be shunted into a single color to make more room for artifacts.

Sorry, I was mistaken about Great Fairy Sword.
I meant to say that if you pick up the Sword, then Giant Growth, then move the Sword off then reattach, the stats change.
Bear, 2/2. Sword, 4/2. Growth, 7/5. Remove sword, 5/5. Attach sword, 10/5.
Snapper
Attack their weak point for massive damage?
Despair seems really good. Two-for-one, instant speed, splashable, possible instant discard?
It can only kill...
... oh.
You sly goose.
Change to "... if it attacked since your last upkeep."
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
Hmm... should I give precedence to flavor or power? The choice is yours, o numbered one.
No more room for multicolored.
I want it to target lands, artifacts, and enchantments too. (Well, maybe not enchantments 'cause it's red, but, you know.)
DING DING DING! Here's the debacle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJElsNaC6yQ
Oh, I know: Target creature gets -3/-3 until end of turn. That creature's controller discards a card. That helps a little. Now, unless your opponent has a creature, you can't cast the spell.
Too many TV dinners.
Hey! They told me just yesterday they plan to go to the gym. I believe them... But anyways, it balances out Despair's really goodness.

Well then replace 'creature' with 'permanent'. Jeez, do I have to do everything?
It's still really good.
I'm going to fix up your BBCode in the following quote:
Kodama's Reach. Telling Time. Long-term Plans. Frenzied Tilling.
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
Okee doke.
??? Phage has both. Nephilims have neither. ???
Yes. I'll be in my trailer.
I don't know what BBCode is either
Shirley, you jest. The Traproot is the best wall ever made! Also, white version can attack.
Not really - there's only 3 of them, so you can only have 12 per deck, and the other 48 cards you'll have to do yourself.
Suggestions?
The extreme CA is balanced by the un-splashability of it.
Good point, wording changed to:
Search your library for three basic land cards and reveal those cards. Shuffle your library, then put one of those cards on top of your library, one into your hand, and one into play tapped.
I just had an idea: Masks, unlike equipment, could have an 'unmask' cost in addition to a 'mask' cost. And instead of the 'must' attach Masks from your hand whenever a creature comes into play, how about 'may'??
Official Rules text (so far):
Masks - Mask {name} {cost} - Attach to target {name} creature. This card comes into play attached to target creature you control and stays in play if the creature leaves play. A creature may only have one mask attached to it.
No Cards today. MSE is real buggy.
EDIT:
Also,
Masks could work as a cross between Auras and Equipment... maybe Auras that can be "un-enchanted" and put on a different creature, or, as you suggested, Equipment with a separate cost to move them.
The next time you can show new cards, I'd like to see more cards that have and/or interact with the 72 hours mechanic.

No, I don't know how to do Boes.
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
I just am not understanding HH here at all.
The Stuff:
Stock Pot inn is very nice. however, it won't be very playable without a way to deal with 72 hours.
Giant's Mask: great! this one has both flavor and goodness. tons of both. I like the second version better, masks really should be a separate subtype... as shown here, it works very well as simply equipment with a separate unequip cost.
??? was funny. good enough, but I really have NO idea about how much it should cost. Blue would probably be the best color for it.
now I'd like to see more cards that interact with 72 hours, seeing as you've shown most of the cards that have the ability.
