I need an outside opinion on a card me and my friend have been arguing about.
It’s an enchantment that costs 1WUB.
It lets you flip a coin whenever you are attacked or targeted, and, on a heads, redirect the attack or effect to another player if possible. This on it own, I’d be fine with, but it also gives you a treasure token every time you flip a coin.
Is this card balanced, or should it cost more mana?
"Create a treasure token whenever you flip a coin" is definitely that kind of Prosper, Tome-Bound effect that probably ought to be on a creature body and not an enchantment. I think maybe this kind of enchantment would have seen print in like Onslaught, it might have had the cost 1RWU and said something like "Whenever a creature attacks a player, reselect its defending player at random. Whenever a player becomes the target of a spell, reselect its target at random." You know, this can be a really powerful effect; making the effect symmetrical metes it a bit, and further upside with treasures or coinflips isn't really required because it's already doing something strong.
I think if it was considered for a modern print, it'd be on a five mana 4/6, 5/5, or 6/4 creature (probably legendary) with all the upside retained. I think RWU is the correct color identity for this effect regardless of its permanent type.
