And I'm talking at cards represented by this frame
So what I come with is a new Sorcery and Instant subtype called tale, here is how it works:
- Each of these creatures contains a Tale Card within the card text (Represented in the left page of the book like oracle text, while its regular creature ability will be put on the right page).
- You may cast these tales by paying it mana cost as long as the creature containing it is on the battlefield.
- Once you casted a tale you cannot cast it again unless the creature containing it somehow leaves and return the battlefield, or if you play a different creature that contains that tale.
Daughter of Wildeness 3GG
Creature - Human Archer
Reach
When a creature with flying enters the battlefield under your opponent's control, you may have Daughter of Wildeness fight that creature.
Brave GG
Sorcery - Tale
Target creature gets +4/+4 and gains trample until the end of turn. (You can only cast a tale once as long as the creature containing it remains on the battlefield)
3/4
Red-Scale Siren U
Creature - Siren
Red-Scale Siren cannot be blocked
Underseas 2UU
Instant - Tale
Counter target spell. (You can only cast a tale once as long as the creature containing it remains on the battlefield)
1/1
Heir of the Pride 2WW
Creature - Cat
First Strike
Other cats you control have first strike.
Treason BB
Instant - Tale
Destroy target creature you control and target creature you don't control. (You can only cast a tale once as long as the creature containing it remains on the battlefield)
3/3
Singing Swan 2UW
Creature - Bird
Flying
If a non creature source would deal damage to Singing Swan, prevent that damage. The source’s controller draws cards equal to the damage prevented this way.
Cursebreaker 1RW
Sorcery - Tale
Destroy target artifact or enchantment. Cursebreaker deals 2 damage to target creature. (You can only cast a tale once as long as the creature containing it remains on the battlefield)
2/2
Plus some of these are kinda based on fairy tale...and some disneyrish characters
Trying to wrap my head around the rules aspect of this ability. Because you don't want the creature leaving the battlefield you aren't casting the spell on them. At best you are creating a copy of it and casting that but that seems very strange. How are the different parts distinguished? Is the copy only the sorcery part? Would it be possible to cast the sorcery portion from not the battlefield via spelltwine and the like? The new frame obviously isn't just a normal activated ability or it wouldn't get a new frame but I highly doubt its surgeries on permanents for the reasons above and a few more. I can't see the value in putting a sorcery on a creature because of the way casting spells functions, it would confuse 90% of players or they would have to bend over backwards so that it functions the way people think it should.
A quick question. Where are people seeing the goldilocks card with mana costs? I only see the one on wizards site and it does not have either mana cost.
Each card text box is rather small, especially the left side, so whatever ability that's going to appear needs to be rather simple and short. Reminder text is thus improbable. Maybe the card turns into an enchantment? Otherwise, it could be a spin on kamigawa flip cards.

Difficult to say at this point.
Maybe it seems to have the same size of the textbox of a Split card though...and there are a couple that can be texty like
I'm thinking that when you cast a Tale, you put a +1/+1 counter on the creature to remember you've cast it, but yeah, something like that would be what I was thinking.
Either that, or something like Retrace, when you can discard a certain type of card to cast the Tales.

It was on the twitter feed. I noticed it had a mana cost too and figured they botched it before they revealed the art and frame on the official site.
Hey WotC, you screwed it up. Just own up to the mistake and present the card the way it was on Twitter instead of trying to backpedal.

Why do you think it's backpedaling? Articles are often written a lot earlier, so the image with added mana cost may very well be more recent. If they were actively backpedaling, they would have to attempt to remove the information, but the tweet still exists.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

I'll concede that it takes time to write an article. So how long to correct the image or add an update? Three weeks, four?

Actually that could work flavorwise too as going through the tales indicates some sort of development for the character...getting a +1/+1 counter seems like development. I'll fit it in.
I have now seen four seemingly independent sources coming to the conclusion that the left side is a tiny card within a card with no other nearly as good idea having come forward for several days, and it works extremely well indeed. Whether it's an alternative mode (like a split card) or a "virtual spell" you can play once as long as the permanent is on the battlefield (similar to monstrosity) it seems incredibly likely that this is a "card-within-a-card" just by the fact that the frame design naturally leads to such an interpretation.
I personally think the monstrosity variant is likely - you get the main character of a story and for some mana you can "tell their tale" which is an instant or sorcery printed on the card - and likely the abilities of the character change once their tale has been told.

Yeah...
What's there to correct? It's a frame with part of the information removed. The amount of information revealed can be different for different outlets. The information in the article is not wrong - just not up-to-date. Are they supposed to add the full cardname as well since they inadvertently made that one public as well? Update their articles to contain the full information once the full card gets revealed?
And what purpose would all that micro-management serve? The missing information is not pertinent. No one has to know that information yet to be properly prepared for a tournament. It's just something "nice to know" for people that are more deeply enfranchised - and from a marketing point of view encouraging people to look at all the outlets to get all the information is actually better for engagement.
This could be an intentional move and be a justified strategy. I don't think it is intentional, but intentionally undoing it is an effort better put elsewhere.

I feel as though the left side will have rules text, and the right side flavor text written out like a classic story. Of course let's not forget that stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end, so maybe this will work a bit like Sagas, only the Sagas in this case are directly involved in the effects. Goldilocks here for example will obviously involve killing creatures at some point, whether by fighting, "biting", or dealing combat damage. The bear trap also suggests some form of luring effect. The large schism between the mana cost and the "story cost" indicates that the effect of the latter, whatever it may be, is something intended to take place much later on. I suspect a one-shot effect akin to Monstrosity or Renown. Another possibility is that activating the effect starts the story, while subsequent actions from the player allow it to play out.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
