Yeah, I looked into Blightning. I figured the card will mostly be "discard 3 cards: target player loses 3 life and sacs 3 creatures" (but very good when you're playing in a mutli-player game) I figured that plus the mild complexity boost would put it into rare territory. I've also been back and forth on making it an instant.

Dodavehu, that card is completely bonkers. Mind Rot is played in standard. This is Mind Rot plus an extra card off them and three life off them, and that's not even including the last ability. Also, Target player discards 3 cards and sacs 3 creatures is so devastating against almost any deck at around turn 4 (6 for 1, for 3 mana and 3 life!) that this would completely snap every format apart from vintage in half.
