Welcome to the first round of this month's FCC. Sorry for the late start, but times have been busy here at MTGS. Now, without further stalling, let me introduce round 1.
Now, we all remember the good old card Cauldron Dance right? No? Ah well, regardless. Your task over these next two day is to design a card of a similar make. You can do whatever you want with it but it must ultimately follow this skeleton:
Put <this> <here> and <that> <here>, then put <this> <there> and <that> <there>
To follow that skeleton is basically the only Round Fulfillment you need to worry about.
Bonus Points:
No Red or Black in the card - 1 Point
Use Mana Symbols in card - 1 Point (really easy point guys)
Supply rendered card art - 3 Points
New Point Category:
February FCC will feature a new point category called Balance. Here's how it works:
-Judges will look at the card in each of the 5 major formats of Magic (Vintage, Legacy, Extended, Standard and Limited). Each format it is unbroken in, it will recieve a point.
So, if a card is only broken in Limited, it will get a 4/5 in that category. Also, Balnce is replacing the Flavor category, which is now merged with Creativity. The new point layout is thus:
Unearthed Secrets 2:symu::symg:
Sorcery
All players may put into play from their hand a creature with a converted mana cost equal to or less than the number of lands in play, then return a land they control to its owner's hand.
Then all players may draw a card then discard a card. The land itself held warriors and secrets.
Player 24 Edited the name and the flavor text to match the art I found... Although, like the original name better, I couldn't find art to match it. (Original name was Rejuvinating Rain)
Grave Robbery :4mana::symb::symb:
Sorcery
Remove your hand from the game and place your graveyard in your hand. Only fools believe their duties are done when they die.
Meddling of Material 6UU Sorercy Search your deck for all permanents and put them into play. Remove All non-permanents and cards in your hand from the game. At the end return all cards removed by ~ to your hand and remove all permmanents you control from the game.
So I think this card needs a basic explaination to what it does. Basicly you get one turn to have all the permanents you control and then the next turn you lose.
Wishful Druid
:3mana::symu::symg:
Creature - Human Druid
Sacrifice Wishful Druid: Draw a card.
When Wishful Druid is put into a graveyard from play, search your library for a creature card and put it into play. It gains haste until end of turn. Remove it from the game at end of turn.
When Wishful Druid is put into a graveyard from play, choose a creature card you own from outside the game and put it into play. It gains haste until end of turn. Shuffle it into your library at end of turn.
2/1
Intellectual Revolution
:4mana::symu::symu:
Sorcery
Search your library for an instant or sorcery card and play that spell without paying its mana cost. That spell has "Then remove this card from the game" after its text. Then take an instant or sorcery card you own from outside the game and play it without paying its mana cost. That spell has "Shuffle this card into your library" after its text
Changed Fortune 4UG
Instant
Each player puts a instant or sorcery card from his hand onto the stack and a creature from his hand into play, then each player removes a instant or sorcery spell he controls from the game and return a creature he controls to its owner hand.
Until ~ resolves, Whenever a spell is put into the stack, his controller may pay 1 if he do move ~ to the top of it.
Target opponent may choose up to 1 creature card in your graveyard and put it into play under their control. It gains haste until end of turn. At the beginning of your upkeep gain control of that creature.
You may choose up to 1 creature card in target opponent's library and gain control of it. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn) It gains haste until end of turn. Why restrict enlistment to the living?
Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
Con - :4mana::symu::symu:
Sorcery (R)
Set aside your and target opponent's creatures. That player gains control of the creatures you set aside, then you gain control of all creatures that player set aside. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)
Each player discards his or her hand and then draws that many cards.
Seal of Yin and Yang
Enchanment
sac ~: reveal cards from the top of your library until
you reveal an enchantment card. Put that card into
play and the other revealed cards on the bottom of
your library. At eot, remove that enchantment from
the game and return ~ to play.
edit: I made the card on MtG Editor but it only loaded
the image. Oh well.
Sudden Awakening3GG
Sorcery
Put a creature card from your hand into play. It gains haste until end of turn. At end of turn, put it into your graveyard.
Body Swap :5mana::symw::symu:
Sorcery
Exchange life totals with target player, then exchange hands with target player. Sometimes, if you want others to see your point of view, you have to give them a little encouragement.
(It's oddly formatted, but fits the theme - first set your life total to your opponent's and your opponent's to yours...then put your cards in his hand and his in yours.)
How do you put up a thumbnail of a card in your post?
Thin Out :2mana::symw:
Instant
Remove target permanent from the game. Its controller may search his or her library for a card that shares a name with it and and put it into play. Pick them off one by one and they'll be gone eventually
I couldn't find a good picture, for this one >.<

Couldn't we just make an unbelieveably overcosted card, or one with an incredible drawback? This seems like just free points.
Couldn't we just make an unbelieveably overcosted card, or one with an incredible drawback? This seems like just free points.
Card coming sometime.
Good point, seeing as that I am your judge, I'll be interpreting "balance" as balance between casting cost and drawbacks versus spell effect with a swell margin of error... "Broken" means stuff like Supermen or One-card combos... Useless cards that draw you one card for 500 mana will lose some points from creativity due to your lack of creativity in creating a suitable drawback to your cool effect...
EDIT: Could we have the contest cards posted in this thread and comments and questions in another thread? With so many people this round it'll make everyone's lives easier...
Hyperspace Angel -- :4mana::symw::symw:
Creature - Angel
Flying, vigilance.
:symw::symw: Put target creature in a game you can see from your seat into play. Then, put <THIS> that creature's controller gains control of this. (Put this creature into play in that game.)
4/4
.
The name's a little Galaga, and the effect is ripped from what-was-that-card-in-Unglued, but Le Chat felt she had to do something a little ... different today.
Memory Shift :2mana::symu::symu:
Enchantment
:2mana::symu:: Remove the top two cards of your library from the game, then put a card removed by Memory Shift on top of your library.
At the end of your turn, put the top card of your library into your hand, then put a card from your hand on top of your library.
And the image is attached. (Image provided by a friend of mine.)
Shifted Beckoning :4mana::symg::symu:
Instant
Search your library for a creature card and put it into play. Then shuffle a non-token creature you own into your library.
Baptism - 1WU
Sorcery (U)
Any player may pay to counter Baptism.
All players shuffle their hands into their libraries. Each player has an opponent choose that many cards from their library at random then puts those cards into his or her hand. All players shuffle their libraries. You gain life equal to the number of cards in your hand. “Holy Water can wash away your sin; but the fire from Hell can burn it into your soul."

Return target creature card from your graveyard to play. That creature gains haste. Choose an enchant creature card from your hand and put it into play enchanting the returned creature.
