They have 4/4 worth of stats for 3 mana, repeatably make Saproling tokens on both ETB and attack, and if they die they can recur themselves alone or with something else straight to the battlefield. They play nicely with go wide, sacrifice, or reanimator strategies. Plus their flavor combines two great characters.
The casting cost is rough, but for those like me who aspire to include one card from each shard and wedge, this is may be the new front runner for Jund.
The baseline of a 3/3 and a 1/1 with an attack trigger is a good baseline for a 3-cmc creature. Being able to recur itself and something else is pretty big game, although I don't currently play other cards besides Mutavault that can be sacrificed to this. As cool as I think this card is, being 3 colors doesn't seem to be worth playing something that isn't an archetype enabler like Leovold, Emissary of Trest. This also isn't necessarily better than mono colored options like Goblin Rabblemaster. This also does a poor Blade Splicer impersonation since constnatly blinking / recurring it only gives you a 1/1 instead of a 3/3.
I don't think I will be cubing them though. The body is an improvement over the usuall rabblemasters but that mana cost is rough.
Saprolings are a common token but I still think it's going to be too specific to rely on. I think making a saproling on death would have bumped this up alot but as is, I'm not too into it.
I think 3-colour 3 CMC creatures have to be crazy strong to crack my list and this duo just don't do it for me.
I like this card. It's good, but not quite good enough to get over the difficult casting cost.
The combination of it's decent base rate and the upside from reanimating a big creature makes it close.
Disrupting the saporling AND squee with spot removal is quite challenging... However, as a renanimator deck id probably rather play a more expensive/reliable dedicated spell to accomplish the reanimating
It works best in a creature heavy midrange jund list, which don't really see much play.

I was on board with this card until you mentioned Soul of Windgrace, now I rather test that.
