Dakkon, Shadow Slayer
WUB
Legendary Planeswalker - Dakkon
Dakkon, Shadow Slayer enters the battlefield with a number of loyalty counters on him equal to the number of lands you control.
[+1~]: Surveil 2
[-3]: Exile target creature.
[-6]: You may put an artifact card from your hand or graveyard onto the battlefield.
This seems strong and I think I'd try to include it in any of it's two color combo's but I just don't include true 3 color cards. Definitely seems interesting if you do though.
It's really bad in a fast mana enviroment though. Usually moxing out your 3 drop is a power play and that's just not the case here. But it is a planeswalker that is an incredible top deck in an attrition based game. So it's definitely intriguing for unpowered cubes I think.
Seems bad to me. At 3 mana it's an expensive, color intensive removal spell, and even if it sticks around after exiling it's almost certainly gonna have to wait a turn to exile again. Even at 6, where you get to exile, exile, if you're in an esper control deck and you're in a situation where you can keep a PW around and untouched for a turn, you were probably winning anyway.
Cool card, but a miss for me. If you are including one card from every 3 color section, this is a reasonable choice.
This card was clearly designed for Modern Esper decks. Yeah, artifact mana doesn't help him much, but he still has excellent value at all stages of the game. Very curious to how he tests.
I don't think he'll knock Sphinx out of the Esper slot of most cubes, but I could see him included in addition to Sphinx if you're not set on numbers in the tri color section.
I don't play Sphinx because I absolutely hate Protection from Color. Currently running Aminatou in its place and honestly, I think Dakkon is a little cooler. This is removal that a Sun Titan or Sevinne's Reclamation can recur. And he's got some other cool stuff.
And also it's Dakkon and he was one of my favorites back when I was a kid trying to learn how to play this game. I'm obligated to give him a try.
I recently pulled all (5) tricolor cards from my artifact cube and I don't think this guy is reason enough to re-instate them but he is clearly decent in that environment. Most of my GY-focused stuff is (easily) in red though. Not sure I want to send this kind of signal in a draft.
Probably keep him on the short list for future testing there.
Dakkon feels like a sleeper for us. We have the “almost balanced” multicolored principle which allows us to play multiple cards of the same shard if needed, meaning that it isn’t competing with Sphinx of the Steel Wind but rather a generic multicolored slot. I’m also justifying this because Sphinx of the Steel Wind is usually a fatty cheating card and not an Esper Control card.
I started playing in lorwyn and korlash, heir to blackblade was my favorite card. If I coulda had one autoinclude for the set I was hoping it was this, but it just doesn’t get there for me.
It’s funny that sun Titan is mentioned so much in this thread as I cut it with my modern horizons cube update.
Has anyone tested this or was the consensus enough to kill that potential? I have an actual esper cube and was considering this in place of Enigma Sphinx

This seems like a pretty cool card - If it was 2 of the three colors, it would be an auto slam dunk.
The other problem is the surveil is outside my delirium (Jund) and my Reanimator (Grixis). The artifact cheat is outside of my artifact (Red-Blue) and my fatty cheat (red-green).

Probably it won't cut Sphinx of the Steel Wind in Esper slot but this seems very strong IMO, great on curve and late game
Thoughts?
