A recursive and evasive Red 3-drop. Immediately bears comparison to Phoenix of Ash. Loses ability to pump for inability to block. Recursion is now tied to damage dealt, not cards in GY, which makes it worse against sweepers. Can't attack the same turn it's brought back, but does so for a much lower cost.
That said, it's a nice evasive piece of damage that most Red decks can recur.
Unsure if it'll make it in at 540, but it's a nice alternative to more Rabblemaster variants.
Chandra's Phoenixwas cool for cube 5 years ago but now... Flamewake phoenix never quite got there but was cheap to buy back Phoenix of Ash shows that you know a 3 drop can/should do more than 2 damage Lightning Phoenix is almost perfect but you forgot that my adding downsides to a card you could exchange them with upsides
So next, pretty please can we get a 2 mana Phoenix?

Has phoenix of ash not been good for you? My playgroup has unanimously found it to be an absolute allstar.
I think this new one is pretty good. Could have a spot if you maybe want to limit play pattern redundancy and cut one of the rabblemaster variants depending how many you have.
Actually I doubt they can make a better 3 drop Phoenix than PoA, and with all the rabblemasters I am not interested in mediocre 3s. But an evasive durable 2 drop in red? That is what I am looking for.
