This isn't a mainstream cubeable card, since it handily fails the vindicate test, and it's just a big stupid guy anyway. Still, triple strike is serious bananas, and I think this is a powerhouse for various archetypes.
Obviously if you have a goblin theme, this works well with lords, and is one of the better Goblin Lackey targets, but that's a small enough consideration. More importantly, any cube with a +1/+1 counter or equipment theme can go nuts: put Inquisitor's Flail on it if you really want to get mathematical, or just hit for 18 with trample and lifelink under a Loxodon Warhammer. Needless to say, swords go boom. Hell, this is fast clock with just a Whispersilk Cloak.
The opponent must block this, or risk getting completely blown out by something as simple as Giant Growth. Combo-aggro may not be a thing anyone's interested in, but this does it.
It's a cool card but I don't think I would run it over my current 5 drop options. I really wish it was good enough, but I think it needs to be on a smaller creature or have some kind of evasion.
He truly is a beast with equipment and Enchantments,as you said, even adding 2 power to him is pretty much going to 1 shot most opponents if you have got a few points of damage in. I think he is a really fun option for lower powered cube looking something interesting.
Yeah I was looking at this card last night, red 5s are stacked and I feel like there are a million other options that people don't even consider, but this one is fun and hits for a lot. 3 toughness is kind of brutal, I would start seriously considering it at 5 toughness. You kinda need all your red 5s to either survive wildfire or do something unique/archetype supporting like Zealous Conscripts or SGC. This guy is ultimately just a guy, but a hard hitting one at that.
Yea and extra keyword would definitely have done wonders for the card, haste or menace would make this guy a lot scarier.
5 toughness and he would also be great, that 3 toughness means it is dieing to most 4 toughness creatures. Extra power would also be great but probably not without less toughness, a 4/1 could be printable though (kinda like a suped-up Porcelain Legionnaire)
