Gisela, the Broken Blade 2WW
Legendary Creature - Angel Horror
Flying, first strike, lifelink
At the beginning of your end step, if you both own and control Gisela, the Broken Blade and a creature named Bruna, the Fading Light, exile them, then meld them into Brisela, Voice of Nightmares. (9/10)
4/3
The meld stuff might as well be flavor text (as Bruna seems not close for cube), BUT HELLO 4 MANA BANESLAYER. This seems completely testable to me.
I think I might like Exalted Angel better. The 3 toughness is more relevant to me on a flyer than the first strike and maybe the lifelink as well. It does block decently well.
It's definitely better than Sublime Archangel. 3 toughness is still a major downside, but it's basically a 4-drop that stabilizes the board the turn it comes down, and is close to impossible to race on turn 4 against aggro, and is a fast, evasive wincon against control. Probably worth testing at 450+. Statwise, it compares unfavorably against Exalted Angel, but it doesn't take both your turn 3 and turn 4, so I'd prefer it more in an aggro shell.
They left out the part where Yawgmoth is resurrected, but has been cleansed as Yawgmoth the Redeemed, and now must awaken Chromium so that Karn can fuse with him and create what can only be known as : the ultimate taco.
Great card seems great. It's going to die to some amount of removal, but I feel that in most match ups you're untapping more often than your opponent always having lightning bolt.
Wow missed this in the spoiler thread. Those are great stats. I'm honestly kind of surprised how aggressively costed this and Hanwier Garrison are. It's like the meld mechanic is totally free (which is great for us).
First strike makes it a much better blocker than sublime (Which proved to be very underwhelimg). Maybe better than the Exemplars for those running that of one of the Goldmanes.
I like her and my 4 drop creature in white need a shake up. I really want to include some meld cards, I know people seem to be pretty down on it but cube seems somewhere that it can be made to work as you can play about with the rules.
As I was saying in another thread, would anyone consider bundling her with the new Bruna as a single pick? Bruna isn't good enough on her own but as a "free" pick with gisela it may make its way into some decks.
This thing is ridiculous. This may not be good enough for powered cubes, but unpowered where creature combat is a real thing, this is a slam dunk.
Bruna is probably one mana too expensive. I'd consider a 5/7 vigilance that brought back a friend for 6 mana, as there are plenty of nice Humans and Angels to bring back, but 7 mana is too much.
Also, rules question: What happens when a melded creature gets bounced? What about destroyed?

Gisela and Garrison aren't unreasonably cheap given their stats. They're just correctly costed, IMO. Also Meld is hardly free when the other halves all suck (and their costing/activation costs tend to be through the roof).

Seems decent, but in the matchups where I really need the lifelink to help against reach, her 3-toughness will be a liability. I'll test her out, but I'm skeptical.
I like her more than Exalted Angel. She doesn't tie up your third turn, she blocks better, and she is less binary against red decks. There are no red cards that kill Exalted in aggressive decks, while against Gisela it will be more of a game. Plus she is a lot more playable in aggressive decks, and she interacts favorably with Karakas.
Despite not being a great cube card, Gisela's stats are just too good to pass for my 650 card cube. She doesn't do anything exciting or broken and is weak to reds removal suit, but as a standalone creature she's pretty freakin good. If she stays on board Gisela will just take over. She is just so aggressively costed for a 4 power first striking, flying lifelinker. Powerful creature even if she brings nothing but a body to the table.
I must say that I feel additions of powerful creatures like this don't add too much to the overall cube environment. She doesn't benefit a specific archetype and she doesn't take any skill to use. She's just a slightly undercosted creature. Too bad the meld mechanic is useless for cube because it looks really fun to use. Although I will be adding Gisela to my cube, I hope this set has more to offer than this first day of spoilers implies.
This card is only 1 thoughness far from being better than Baneslayer Angel, a card that almost everyone run in their cube. For that reason, I kind of like it. Maybe not enough to instant run it though, but it's at least a good start. Gorgeous art also.
Yeah, that one toughness would go a looong way. Aggro is dominant in my cube, so lifelink is valuable. My cut would be exalted angel. But i have a hard time deciding between them. Is gisela better or woth compared to exalted angel in a aggro heavy meta?
When the 5-toughness matters, it really, really matters. I prefer Exalted Angel to this, but might try and test both. EA can also be attacking on T4, starting the lifelink train early, which is important in some matchups.
Ya, but it's far better in the matchups where you need it to be good. Like I said, when the 5-toughness matters, it means everything. Especially with/against Wildfire effects (and now Languish too). The opponent has a smaller window to remove Exalted Angel before it unmorphs and wins the game. Against this creature, a lone burn spell will always be able to kill it. When the lifelink is the most critical, the 3 toughness is the biggest liability.

Edited for wrong ability initially lol.

I really like her. Not sure if it'll crack my 360, but larger lists could definitely be interested.

Both Go to Hand.
I like the new angel but I am not sure if I like her better then my other 4 drops and I will not be able to support the meld.

Slot is completly stacked and she aligns very poorly to the removal of the format. Especially red removal, which is where her abilities should shine.
She's a good card, but I won't be testing.

Surprisingly, the meld form isn't a horror, but that's probably because they didn't have room for the text.
