Guess I sometimes talk before I think or I am just socially awkward. I love to public speak and teach others in an open setting. Most of my persoanl friends are gamers and we geek talk, but it seems in other social circles (along with work), I have difficulty adapting. I am not the one to try and fit in. I don't push my thoughts/beliefs on others. I like to question, analyze, and ask why -- whereas most people here just work with their head down.
Example: at work, we use to do presentations about our work activity - like going further into depth on the accounting behind the scenes when processing sending/receiving funds. In a small team meeting, I asked if we are going to start this back up, as we have alot of new teammembers. Comments back were, this isnt college and other related things. I retorted with it helps with public speaking....no one wanted that (I didnt say anything further regarding my agenda on saying it is helpful as you move up).
There is a difference between humor and being a smartass. Don't get me wrong, this is coming from a king among smartasses, but you need to tailor your behavior in a work environment to whatever is considered appropriate. If people don't get that you're joking with them, stop joking with them. I tend to play my sarcasm so straight people who don't know me well think I actually believe what I'm saying, when I'm really making fun of it. The solution is for me to just keep it to myself until people get to know me better.
I recommend that you do the same. I know from experience that being the office smartass can hurt you, professionally.
I literally tell people I know that nothing I say should be considered serious.
Doesn't always work.
But hey, **** those guys, right bros?
Wait, no, thats horrible, why would I say that?
Because I'm obviously kidding, heh, I mean, real, why would I be such a dick? Hell, I took some business classes and this guy Nick Schultz told one of the guys at my dojo that he wants to, heh, choke me out if he sees me on the street (I've graduated and he's still in school). What a joker, right?
Wait, apparently he was serious. *****. My joking and outgoing personality made someone hate me. *****, what do I do? Nothing, I mean, it's not like he's going to do anything, right?
Such silly people.

Ok,
So, serious mode. The above is an allegory. Jay is right, people need to adjust to you. Particularly since you're apparently dealing with accountants who are, like, the worlds mot boring people. There is a reason Dimitri Martin quit law school to become a comic. Maybe make some jokes about the math? What kind of jokes are you even talking about since your post is basically "I said that this thing we used to do is helpful to new people at the company but people said we weren't at college"
I mean, the joke retort there is probably "yeah, we aren't at college anymore. Now I have a fiscal interest in new people being brought up to speed quickly so we all make cocaine and hookers level of money instead of cocaine or hookers level of money"

I don't get your humor either. I don't see why that couldn't be a serious suggestion.

Are you in a supervisory, managerial, or other position that requires you to keep tabs on what these other people are doing?
Because if not, to me this reads like "I make a habit of nagging people about things I don't think they're doing perfectly, instead of doing whatever my actual job description is."
I'm with resonance, in that I don't see how you're claiming it's an issue of humor. If you have serious suggestions, as opposed to being a smartass, maybe try to get a supervisor in your corner to discuss your ideas with one-on-one, or see if your work has a standardized policy for handling employee feedback?
